Health and WellnessTherapies and complementary medicine Kinesiology

Kinesiology is a holistic therapy which draws on traditional Chinese medicine principles, that evaluates body function through the muscle-meridian relationship, that is, the muscles and their associated energy channels with the body's organs, glands or systems.

Applied kinesiology therapy (AK) is a technique developed by US chiropractor George Goodheart. AK is based on the theory that the body has an innate knowledge of itself and manifests imbalance through muscle dysfunction or impaired physiological activity.

By testing out the muscles, weak areas indicate poor muscle function and also possible trouble with the organ and/or other tissue on the same nerve grouping. With research, Goodheart discovered that massaging weak and tender spots on muscles could correct these problems and improve posture, muscle function and pain level.

What to expect?

In your consultation, the practitioner will take a complete history of your health, test many different muscles, analyze your posture and possibly take other tests in order to find out where the problems of energy flow are. After assessment, the practitioner will offer a course of treatment which may consist of massaging reflex points, nutritional support, specific movements and exercises and stimulation of meridian energy. Depending on your kinesiology practitioner, treatment may be done on a physical, emotional, chemical and spiritual level.
