Losing Weight and Walking

I am wondering is walking/jogging a good choice for a person that has to loose more than a 100 pounds, because at this point I can't get a gym membership because I am a fulllllllll time nursing student.  And I want advice on would walking and running along with dieting help me loose the weight that I need to.  I would love your opinions and suggestions.  And has anyone lost a lot of weight with walking as their primary source of exersise???

Of course walking is a great way to lose weight! :) I lost 60lbs last year with walking & riding a stationary bike. You can lose on average 400 calories an hour with a moderate paced walk which adds up tremendously. Im currently now just walking and using my stationary bike for exercise its just taking me awhile to want to get motivated and do it everyday when I get off work... Good luck let me know how things are going!

Hi new as of 3 days ago i have a treadmill how often and how long does anyone walk here. This is my 2nd go around here had a set back with aninner ear issue.
