Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to introduce myself and I invite you all to do the same so we can all get to know eachother. My name is Steph and I'm currently a senior at college planning to graduate in May with a B.S. in Counseling Psychology. I keep attempting to be vegetarian but at some point or another manage to fall off the bandwagon so I figured this group would be perfect! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving (if you celebrate it). Hope to hear from you all soon.

Hi Steph!

I'm 26 (almost 27) and live on the California Central Coast. I am not vegetarian (gasp!), but eat meat rarely, so I'm on this group to share recipes and support!

Thanksgiving was great! We did the whole turkey meal (can I talk about that on this group?? lol), and we're planning for a vegetarian Christmas dinner. Can't deal with all that turkey twice in one year!

Welcome and good luck!

Natnat

Hey,

I'm Nat. I live in Nottinghamshire in the UK. I haven't been online in a whlie but am coming back with a vengeance! :) I'm 22 and have been vegetarian as long as I can remember (although I do eat Tuna so I'm technically a Pescatarian I think). My parents and grandparents are veggies so I guess I was destined to go the same way.
As Im in UK, we don't celebrate thanksgiving (same as we don't really celebrate many holidays - we are a miserable bunch! lol)

I started this board as I'm tired of seeing low calories recipes that are full of chicken and meat. Us veggies need to lose weight too! :)

Anywho, I'm rambling now so I'll wish you all good Luck

Nat

ItSeemsOK

Hi all.....my name is Sharon and I reside in Fort Collins, CO. I am a 56 year old mother of 5 and "nanny" to 3 glorious grandsons. I have been a vegetarian for 33 years and have not eaten a morsel of meat or fish in all of that time....

I have just joined Weight Watchers and am following the CORE program. This seems to be working for me so far in 2 weeks I have lost 12 lbs.
It amazes me that people think that as long as you are a vegetarian that you should not have weight issues....just because I don't eat meat doesn't mean that I don't eat cakes and cookies :-).

I am glad that I found this group and I hope to be posting on a regular basis.

Thanks for putting up w/my rambling....

gethealthy2008

My name is Elizabeth and I live just outside of Louisville, Kentucky. I am 38 years old and am exploring the veggie option of healthy eating and think it is a great way to go, just trying to figure out how to work it into the rest of my family (1 DH and 4 beautiful kiddos, ages 11 down to 18 mos.). I am wondering how to eliminate cooking 2 meals a night but don't think they can handle going veggie all at once. So, any ideas from those of you who are vegetarian but the rest of your family isn't?

Sassy Susan

Hi! My name is Susan and I live just outside the Atlanta, Georgia metro area. I am 41 years old and am tired of being overweight and out of shape. I have 2 great children, a 2 yr old boy and a 7 yr old girl. I want to be a good example to them re: healthy eating and exercise.

Nice to meet everyone and I hope we will all be of support/help to each other.

Miss V

Hello everyone. Nice to have a support group for vegetarians. I am farely new to this lifestyle. I have been a lacto-ovo vegetarian for 5 months now. I have hopes of becoming 100 % vegan by the end of this year. This will be kind of hard because I love cheese too much!

Changing my lifestyle has also changed my life. I feel great and its one of the best decisions that I have ever made. I also convinced my DH to become a vegetarian which was great. I aslo plan on raising my two kids that way, which I know will be a challenge but I'm up for it!

Anyhow I'm glad to be here and also have hopes of losing weight while doing so . Good luck to everyone!

AnimalElsa

I'm AnimalElsa and I'm a vet tech from Boston, MA. I've been vegetarian for 23 years now. When I became vegetarian I lost 35 pounds but have had trouble keeping off the last 10-15.

My biggest weaknesses: dark chocolate and cashews!

teewest

Hi everyone, I'm Tina.
I am 25 & based in Manchester (UK).
I have been veggie for 8 years & have put on 4.5 stone in that time-D'oh!!!
I am now borderline obese & in need of low fat veggie recipes!!
My weaknesses are cheese & bread- I would live on cheese on toast if my waistline would allow it!!
I was actually underweight when I ate meat, though that didn't last long when I discovered cheese...!

Hello! Been veggie for 6 years now... Thought this might be a fun group to join, because I approach carbs and protein differently than a lot of the dieting carnivores I know.
