Figured I would start the new year out right and hopefully stick with it. I have been heavy all of my life and keep thinking that I will feel better if I would put more time into myself and take the time to plan my meals and make a date with exercise. I have three kids and much to my dismay are all heavy, not so much as me but heavy enough. I am hoping that by example I can lead them into a healthier lifestyle. I started the journey at 305 pounds, two days ago and my goal is to reach 160 pounds in the next year and a half. I know its a huge goal but I am hoping to make some friends along the way. It is tough for me. Good luck to everyone with their wieght loss goals and hope to keep up with everyone,

Good luck on your journey!!  You can do it!  I think it's wonderful that you are trying to change your lifestyle!  I am also working on my own weight.  I've been dieting hard for a week now, and I've completely cut out regular Mt. Dew and have started drinking more water, Crystal Lite and diet pop.  You can get your kids on board too just by making healthier meals, more big salads as a meal (grilled chicken, broccoli, tomatoes, carrots, celery...  also, salsa is a GREAT alternative to dressings).  We don't eat hamburger anymore, we eat ground turkey.  It's much leaner and virtually no grease at all.  Quit buying all the sugary snacks and replace them with granola bars and fresh veggies.  I wish you luck!  Please feel free to friend me and we can do this together!

Thanks for the support. I am really dedicated to this. The kids have sure been groaning as they slowly see the bad foods go and being replaced with new ones. This is more gradual for them and I hope not too much of a shock.

hi tinasue! im a newbie, today i discovered i am "obese" at almost 200 lbs, i never even dreamed i was this big! i dont look often in the mirror and never take pics. but low and behold someone took one and gave to me!! what an eye opener! my plans are to start out with jillian michaels and shape my eating habits. really i need to cut out sugar! i drink sweet tea ALL day!  good luck and hope to chat sometime!

I just jioned and I too have problems with my weight due to medications as well as physical limitations.
