I am not addicted to home exercise, but I WANT TO BE! Any ideas for the rank amateur?

Hi River_rising! Welcome to the board.

I am going to think about your question and post a reply. I think I'll post it on my blog and link to it from this board.

In the meantime, any exercise is wonderful! As a first step, sit down with your daily schedule and find an hour three days a week that you can commit to exercise. Make sure it is not too close to bedtime. Whatever exercise you're doing at the moment can be done at this set time. A few quick tips:

*Write your workout time in your diary or on your calendar. Keep it visible.
*When the hour arrives, put on your workout clothes. Tell yourself that you don't have to finish the workout, but you have to dress out and at least start. (If all you manage on the first couple of days is dressing, that's good enough. But if you're like me once you're dressed out, you will feel like a dork if you don't go ahead and do something.)
*After dressing out, get started on it--walking, stationery bike, elliptical or whatever it is. If you only manage five minutes, that's fine. You will do more next time. The point is to do something every time you have scheduled to do something. You are building a habit. You are creating an addiction!
