As several of you already know, I've been struggling with trying to lose weight for quite some time now ~ to the point where I thought the weight was "stuck" on me. Several months ago I bought a Clean Eating book and decided to try it. It was based on the principle of eating as much non-processed foods as possible. It was strange at first shopping in the produce aisle instead of the cookie and frozen food aisle but I adapted. As the weeks have gone by, I'm stunned at my increase in energy, how I sleep better (after years of insomnia), and the improvement in my appearance and self confidence.

I am a perfectionist and an all or nothing person (not to mention a chronic overeater).. But I'm also someone for whom diets DO NOT work. I can't weigh, measure, keep track of points or go to meetings. I always see any deviation as failure and I'm right back to eating junk three meals per day again. Clean Eating is something I've stuck with. And no one could be more stunned than I. The idea is to eat as MUCH clean food as you can. "Fattening" meals are allowed from time to time. There's no diet and no cheating so therefore no failure. And if I can do it, ANYONE can do it!

This is what got me started. You do NOT "need" to buy the book, but let me tell you it's a great book, a great motivator and answers a lot of nutritional questions.

Click HERE and then on the Clean Eating link to order via Amazon!

(The above-mentioned link is a link that will give me a referral credit if anyone orders from my site and will take you to YOUR Amazon order page. Thanks!)

The COMPLETE Tosca Reno and Clean Eating page (created by me). I've put all the Tosca information I know of all on one page (basic info, books, videos and more). More will be added as I go. Check it out.

The Eat Clean Diet & Tosca Reno Information.

I'm hoping to introduce newbies to this way of eating and hopefully draw a few experts who (of course) know WAY more on the subject than I do and help ME to learn even more!

Thanks for starting this group! I've never read about Clean Eating, but from your description, it sounds like what I'm doing! I also have a hard time counting calories and all that, so focusing on eating whole foods, and lots of veggies, has worked for me!

Same thing with me. I am not on any diet per say. I have not heard of the "Clean Diet" book but you can bet I will be on the lookout for it. From years of experience I know what I should and should not eat. Fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables is always the best. My favorite place in a grocery store is the produce aisle. My husband always knows that if I stray away from him that he can surely find me there. There are so many fresh vegetables and fruits that I have not tried yet so maybe we can share that info with each other. I love stuff like collards, turnip greens, mustard, rutabagas, cabbage, sweet potatoes.....the list goes on and on. When I was young we only ate dried beans, peas, fresh vegs, etc. and only had meat 2 days a week. Perfect eating!!!! Chargail

The last chance

Hi there,

Thanks a lot for starting this support group. I agree with you, it's time to go back to basics and to start eating just normal food.

I live in Spain and there are plenty of places where you can get non processed food. Local markets are great and full of great food. I try to buy fresh fruit, vegetable, fresh fish etc ... Problem is, we need to learn how to cook again.

I will keep you posted on my local experience.

Good luck to all of you.

This is the first time I have heard the term "clean eating" -- but it must be what I have been trying to do, also. I have pretty much eliminated sugar and processed foods from my diet. I've been concentrating on fresh veggies, fruits, whole grains and lean proteins. So far, it seems to be working. I feel better and have actually lost weight. In the past no amount of "dieting" could get me to drop more than 5 pounds. I am really glad you started this group!

I love the avatar!! Where did it come from? I would like to have a shirt with that on it. Has anyone here had artichoke before? That is something that I have never tried. I keep saying that I am going to buy a new fruit or vegetable every week just to try them. But, that would cost a LOT.

I eat a lot of frozen fruit, especially in the summer. Frozen red grapes are better than any ice cream!! I buy the 6 lb. bags of frozen fruit (peach, passion fruit, honeydew melon, strawberries, red grapes) and snack on that. Also every time I find red grapes on sale I buy them and put them in the freezer. Just some suggestions.

Why would it cost a lot to try a new fruit or vegetable every week? Surely it wouldn't cost more than a couple of cans of Coke? Or a few chocolate bars? Think of it like that. Plus, you are definitely worth a dollar or two to try something new and enjoy your life. Go for it!

Hey Tracy! Thanks for starting this group! I have read the book and I love the concept. I am so awful at going to the grocery store lately. That is disaster on my eating plan! You have motivated me! Tomorrow morning, I'm going Krogering!

I checked out that website- looks interesting! I'm going to go look at this book this weekend and probably buy it. I'm eating less and working out like crazy- but not really seeing the scale go down. I need an extra push!
