I let my Gold Membership expire for a couple reasons. 

I'm suprised this group is still up.  That's great!!!

If it suddenly goes away, you'll know why.

I don't think it's going anywhere - I think you only need to be a Gold member to start a new group and after that anyone can administrate it.  I think.
