How great is it to hear someone say "Are you losing weight?" after you've spent months eating healthy and working out and trying to get back into shape?

People who see you often probably don't recognize the changes until they become BIG changes but oh those sweet words!

That's a good feeling to hang on to when you are less than motivated. To remember how sweet the sound as someone acknowledges your hard work with a simple question.

I love that question!!!! I've had a few people ask me already and it made my day!

I know we are doing this for ourselves...but it's nice when others notice our progress!

It IS nice when other people notice. I think for me it's because it's VALIDATION. We are working hard. We are making an effort to get to our weight loss goals and we see things all the time. Or feel them. Such as the loose jeans or the bra that doesn't fit so tight anymore. But we may go for a long time without someone else saying anything.... so that when they do, it's like AHA!!! I haven't been imagining the loose clothes and the scales aren't broken and it feels good!

There's no shame in that. It's validation that our hard work is paying off and other people are noticing it.

Awesome job ArmyWifeMLS. You inspire me to work out and move my body every day!! Keep up the good work!

I was reading a blog this morning and the poster said she was getting dressed in a pair of pants that used to fit her, but when she went to put them on this morning, they fell right off! She couldn't keep them on her hips!!!! I think that calls for a......

Here's a confession.... sometimes, to keep myself motivated and working that much harder, I'll purposely let a while pass between seeing people so that they might notice a bigger change when they do see me.  In this case, I haven't seen my inlaws in nearly a month.  I've kept that in the back of my head and used it to push myself so that the weight loss will be that much more noticeable when they do see me.  I don't go out of my way to avoid people or anything, but this does help I find.  Seems it's staggered, so that every few weeks I am hearing it from someone else.  ;)

My husband and I were in the grocery story the other day and we saw one of our friends we haven't seen in about 2 yrs..He walks up behind my husband and he says to us- i thought you were with another woman because i didn't even recognize Tatum, she looks so different...And he said whatever i was doing keep it up cause i was looking great.....It made me feel great, cause you put so much hard work into losing weight and sometimes you feel like its not paying off....:)

This is what I'm talking about.... it's not just that someone notices...... it's that they validate our hard work! I know for me, I'd like to hear someone say it after losing only 10 pounds, but when you are as big as I am, 10 pounds off doesn't really show too much. My clothes will fit looser, but others just don't notice. So when they finally do notice and say something, I've lost probably 25 to 30 pounds already and I'm starting to think... "HEY!!! ARE YOU PEOPLE AWAKE???"

That's why I keep on saying to myself, don't give up, don't give up! Eventually, it WILL be very noticable!  I see pictures of some of you at heavier weights and now at more healthy weights and there's a big change!!! Even we tend to not pay attention to our efforts until someone else does notice. And as I type that right now... I'm also thinking that by doing that, I'm robbing myself of a gift. If I take joy and pride in each pound that I work off, then that's a present to myself. I "shouldn't" need the confirmation from someone else to validate my hard work. It takes a lot of sweat to burn off one pound... that's like 3,000+ calories, right????  So from now on, I'm still going to enjoy those words, but it doesn't have to validate me. The scales and my clothing will be my validation!!! :-)

Keep up the good work everyone... we can do this! I know we can!!!!!!!!!!
