Ok, I gotta ask...who here belongs to a gym? Which one? How's it working out with thier child care, or what do you do for child care? How often do you go? How much? Feel free to answer as many or as little of my interigation as you want, and feel free to elaborate too! Thanks!!

I belong to Omni and love it. There is a Club Sun connected to it so that helps when I tan because your children can stay in the gyms childcare while you tan. My husband and I paid about 950.00 for two years. (breaks down to about 40.00/mo for family membership) The Child care is great. Its from like 8-12 during the day and 4-close at night. I love that it has child care during the day hours. Alot of gyms don't and it sucks because I am a stay at home mommy and thats the best time to go for me. I search every gym in my area and this was the only one that I liked. (we live in Daphne, Alabama..close to Mobile) This gym also offers child gym classes for free. They get to go into a big room and jump and play. My 4 year old son keeps me motivated to go because he loves going there. Hope this helps!

If I could find one w/ decent child care I'd LOVE to spend a few hours a week in a gym. I can watch what I eat until I'm blue in the face - but it's hard for me to make the time to exercise. If I were in a gym it'd be a no brainer! Maybe I'll start calling around and see what's available.

Sorry I couldn't help with any answers, but thanks for posting abt this and motivating me! :)

Hey Ladies...just wanted to update, since it's been a while. End of Feb, I joined a gym. A local gym, close to my house, free childcare, smaller, but less intimidating then a place like "Gold's" you know? They havea pool, sauna, steam room, free classes, spinning, as well as tanning and massages.

I'm getting to know faces there and it's been a total stress relief at the end of the day (or beginning) to not olny burn off some calories, but get a break from my beautiful babies. I'm very much loving the yoga and piloga classes, especially in the evenings. As they kids get cranky, so does mommy, so it's a nice way to unwind at the end of the day so I can finish out the evening enjoying my time with them.

My little one has undoubtably had a few more runnny noses and colds since I've started, but I haven't used any daycare with him thus far, so he hasn't had too much exposure. I'm an RN, and I do know that exposing them to the germs will help thier bodies build up antibodies against illnesses in the future. It can help them from getting sick, or at the very least, when they do get sick, it's much less worse then it would have been had they never been exposed to anything prior to kindergarden. I don't want to have to pull them from school at that age when they can and need to be learning, so exposure early on is good! Anyway, that's my little rant about that...lol

I've been running and SLOWLY getting into some kind of shape in order to begin marathon training in June. I'm only at 3 mi, but it's because I've had to take it so slow due to the fact I keep getting shin slints every time I add to my mileage. I bought new shoes and have been performing additional calf and shin streghthening techniques, as well as rest, ice, streching and motrin when they flare, but if anyone has any tips, I'd love to hear them! I think my legs are getting stronger because I don't get them quiet as bad or as "easy" as I used to....meaning, I have to run longer/further for me to get them and when I do, they don't seem to be as bad or take as long to heal up. I'm hopeful I'll soon be able to streghthen them up enough where I can easily add miles once a week in June.

I'm running a 5k on the 17th...Run for the Warriors. It's a great cause, part of Hope for the Warriors. It's in support of military members wounded in Iraq and the gulf war. Check your local area to see if there's one in your area. They have one mile walk/run, 5k (3 mi) and 10k (6 mi)!

Ok, I'm writting a novel here, so I'm gonna get going. Best of Luck Ladies!!!

I joined the YMCA here in our neighborhood. We pay 65.00 a month for a full family membership, which means my husband and I and both our boys can come in any time and use any of the facilities, take any of the classes, etc. The childcare is free, and I've started taking a weekly pilates class which I really like. I'm thinking of starting the yoga class too. It's a nice break and the kids are nearby where I can check on them whenever I want. They also have an indoor pool and hot tub, and water aerobics classes, just haven't had a chance to try all those out yet.

Steph

I am returning to the gymn in January.   I had a c-section so I have to take a little longer when it comes to the weights, but I did start walking again with my groovy cool stroller!!

Our gym doesn't have child care, but the day care is right down the road.  So, I will just do that.

I gained ten pounds since my second child and I can't seem to lose it no matter how I try to improve my diet. I just started exercising again so I hope I see a difference soon.

I have five more weeks to go and then I will be heading this way! I'm not breastfeeding, so I'm hoping that will let me get on track faster. I originally lost 83 lbs. with Jenny Craig and I'm going back!
