Thought this was interesting.  I've tried to aim for this myself as I had heard it elsewhere, but came across this while trying to figure out approximately how many calories my swimming would burn and how to be sure I'm staying in the optimal range for fat loss.   Seem a steady pace for a long time, as opposed to a fast pace for a short time, is best for fat burn.  But ultimately it's whatever someone can do right?    Anyway, here it is....
According to the United States Department of Health and Human Services, exercise benefits health regardless of fat or calories burned. The 2008 guidelines advise that health benefits occur with at least 2 hours and 30 minutes a week of moderate intensity exercise. The number equates to 1/2 hour per day of exercise, five or more days per week

I do weight resistance training 3 times a week for 30 minutes and cardio 2 times a week for 60 minutes.  I have been losing 3 to 5 pounds a week (along with a high protein/lower calorie diet). I weighed 250 and now down to 230.  Hope this helps.  Oh, Zumba is a blast!
