Protein power diet

Michael and Mary Dan Eades are the authors of this diet, which is similar in many ways to the Atkins' program as it focuses on a reduced carbohydrate diet.

The basis of the Protein Power Diet is for you to control insulin response within your body to achieve health and normal weight. Depending on your activity level, allocated amounts of protein required at each meal. You are allowed a modest amount of carbs (30-50g per day) but you must carefully monitor this amount. You need to count everything and eat specific amounts at certain times.

Foods allowed are meat (all types), some kinds of vegetables (according to their carbohydrate content), limited quantities of fruits (no bananas), and butter.

Foods not allowed are high sugar foods, starchy foods like breads, potato, and pasta. Very limited vegetables are peas and corn (as they are loaded with starch).

Diet supplements are recommended.
