The Jesus diet
Don Colbert, MD, promotes this diet as the best way of keeping slim, fit and trim. His book "What would Jesus Eat?" explores Old Testament dietary laws and looks at foods mentioned in the Bible.
He proposes more fruits, vegetables, beans and lentils rather than processed foods - mainly what Jesus' diet consisted of. Jesus also would have eaten wheat bread, drunken red wine and a lot of water. Meat would have been eaten only on special occasions, and pig, rabbit or fish that did not have scales, such as crabs and shrimps, would not have been eaten.
Meal times were also a sacred moment in biblical times, and disciples would eat leisurely, unlike people of today, who eat on the go.
The aim of this approach is to try and make Americans, at a time when their health is at a downfall, examine their current lifestyle habits, and help them make correct health and diet choices.
