Zed42 is tired....

Gah, is this always going to be my header. I'm desperately bored of it.

We worked hard yesterday and finished at 10pm, when we had "supper" (well, dinner, but it was late, so y'know supper). Food yesterday was patchy.

B - Porridge with f/f yoghurt & fruit compote

L - HM Beef burger with cheese, bbq sauce and a granary bun. Now, DH had made me two, so to have one was an achievement :) Potato salad and coleslaw (Both HM and low fat).

S - Snickers, I'd been DIY shopping and succumbed. It was worth it, haven't had one in a couple of years. Yum.

S - when normally we'd have had dinner .... 1 slice of bread, butter and jam

Evening meal - sausage in a roll with coleslaw & potato salad ... but was then still hungry .... so had a bowl of muesli with s/s milk, which did the trick nicely.

But on the whole, I was presented with more choices of a disaster, ie DH said shall we go out for food and drinks, and I was all up for that in some respects, but not in others .. and then I felt absolutely wiped, so chose the stay at home option ... I know, no baby sitting issues, and I chose to slump in front of the tv and watch soaps, LOL ...

Well, it's 10:07 and we're both up, I have a few things to sort first, and then it's back to the DIY. DH is lifting floor boards, ready to repair / replace the floor joists.

Oh, and weight this morning: 9st 6.25lbs .. tut tut .....

It's 15:42 here now and DH and I have only just gotten ourselves motivated to start attacking our bedroom (or should I say ... my new sewing-room-to-be).

DD and M-i-L left around 11, and we went back to bed to sleep soundly until 2.

This w/e has been too many late nights and way too much alcohol. Mainly late nights though.

DH and I went to the flicks on Saturday night, then a couple of pubs .. finally finished up in the local nightclub (exceptionally tacky!) and danced until 02:30 ..... we weren't such happy campers on Sunday, LOL .... thankfully M-i-L and DD played nicely, whilst DH dozed on the sofa and I returned to bed for a long nap!

Last night we had a bbq, gotta grab them whilst you can!

Weight today, post breakfast and post lunch ... 9st 6lbs.

I think I'll do a true weight thing tomorrow morning and see what damage or not has been caused by our w/e.

Right, gotta go move a carpet ... ciao for now.

Zed42's slow start to Saturday....

Which really ought to gather with momentum, but that isn't quite happening ... yet.

I went to bed before 23:00 last night, go me! Trust me, that's really, really, early for me .... to be woken up a) by my DD announcing at 01:00 that she was going to get herself some more water as she was thirsty .. thanks for the bulletin, perhaps next time .. tell me in the morning ;) Oh the joys of being 4 eh! and then b) to be kept awake by drunken, loud teenagers in the town until 02:00am, because the evening was warm .. and therefore my window firmly open.

Never mind, sleep is highly over-rated so they say!

I have my M-i-L coming for the w/e, and I have yet a whole done of chores to do before then ... I may just admit defeat and let her see the dustball that is my life, she'll cope .. she'll have to!

Mind you, I have just realised that I bought tickets for DH and I to go and see SATC tonight :) Woo hoo ... yes, yes, I know you lot all went to see it about 3 zillion years ago, but it's on at our local cinema, which always has movies after they've been on the mainstream screens .. and I have a babysitter!

It's a really cute cinema. Very civilised and small, with a good quality screen and excellent surround sound. An interval, always an interval ... and a bar. Cosmo darling ;)

My food plan for today .. was ...

L - HM mushroom soup with bread

D - HM chilli / rice

But, DH threw a "spanner" in the works and wants to go out for lunch "a trois" ..... and I can't really veto it (well, obviously I totally could, but .. ) ... as DD is going to be away for a week, so it'd be nice to go out as a family before she does fly the nest !

Weight this morning .. dunno, still not dressed.

About to go and shower, get dressed and take my measurements for the month ... that ought to be worth a laugh !

Have a great w/e ... it's forecasted for rain here all w/e ,..... so far I have 2 loads of washing out on the line ... and a mix of ominous grey cloud, and beautiful sun filled blue skies ..... I have one more load to get washed and dried, c'mon sun cut me some slack!!

Zed42 can't believe it's August.

No truly, it's pretty ridiculous, I was just getting the hang of writing 2008 on things, and before I know it .. I'll have to write 2009. That and it's only 21wks to Christmas or something similar. OMG.

I'm still tired, but less so (I think!) .... DD didn't wake up .... unfortunately I did at around the 4am mark and couldn't get back to sleep properly. Gah, never mind, another day, another dollar, or something like that.

The only good news about waking up at that dreadful hour, meant that I've already drunk about a litre of water, LOL!

However, I'm still aiming to drink another 1.5ltres before the day is through.

Do you guys count coffee / tea / soft drinks as part of your water intake? I don't. I will "allow" my lemon juice and herbal teas, but I don't formally "count" them per se.

So, I'm planning on losing 6lbs am I .... well, I'd best find some focus and stick to it. Hmmmm ....

I'm not a great calorie counter / fat counter / carbs counter / WW points counter .... I just kinda try not too eat too much and avoid the obvious things which are high in all of the above (except carbs, because I know nothing about carbs, perhaps I ought? I think it's something to do with cutting out bread and pasta and that just wouldn't do, LOL!)

However, what I do need to address is the late night snacking, I know I say this over and over, but I do.

I've tried to eat "heavy" in the day, but I still get hungry at night, I try to eat light during the day to allow for my hunger at night.

I've always been like this, even before I knew what alcohol and munch attacks were ever conceived. So, it's not just related to that.

My mother always commented on my "midnight bowls of cereal".

What I need to do is find "good" options for my munchies. The bacon / egg butties aren't horrendous, as they're done in spray oil with no butter on the bread, but even so, they probably clock in at oh, let's think ... 3pts for the bread, 1.5pts for the egg, and say 1.5pts for the back bacon .. so a total of 6pts. Actually, that's not too bad is it.

I'm not a sweet snacker (although obviously I will if it's there, LOL), but I do prefer a dense savoury snack.

For this week, however, I'm going to be a "good" dieter (not for life, just this week .. we'll do lifestyle too, LOL!) and count something, what shall I count?

Can you tell that although I'm in the middle of the river without a paddle, I'm quite happy floating ..... I need to get some focus, I really do. But I'm fairly cheerful today, which is something.

Weight ... who knows, who cares ... it's post Chinese, it'll be heavy. Still fit in my UK size 10 jeans, so, that's good :)

 

Zed42 is up, up and away....

1.5lbs up to be precise. And am I bothered .. no, I think I'm just too tired to care.

Right, on the plus side ... After DH had awoken from his "nap" (2hrs!) .. I dragged him for a walk to use the new walking boots. I really didn't feel like a run, but I did fancy a walk.

TBH, I like running because of the quick effect it has on my body, with respects to shape and calories burnt .. but I much prefer a stroll in the countryside, observing the world going by and chatting amiably to passersby.

So, we spent an hour (or so) doing 3.79 miles up a hill and then alongside a canal, very pleasant. We got to chat, relax and generally felt much fresher afterwards.

Foodwise, I stuck to plan .. and will be sticking to my plan of eating Chinese too ;)

As it is August tomorrow ... and I mentioned earlier that time in the month to set challenges .. my challenge (ok, so it's a 6wk challenge) is to lose 6lbs .... 6wks, 6lbs ..... gotta be easy huh?!? Yeh, ok, so I've gained 1/2lb in 9mths ... yeh, well ..... just get it done alright!

This coming week is going to be a bit "interesting", my M-i-L arrives on Saturday and leave on Monday morning and is taking my DD with her .... we will then go and stay with M-i-L on Saturday and return with her on the Sunday.

In the meantime, we are planning on removing a floor and it's joists and replacing them.

So:

a) We will be doing plenty of physical exertion (no sniggers from the back please!)

b) We won't have a DD to feed properly .. now this will either result in us eating out too much .. or eating later and therefore me not snacking late at night .. let's see what happens huh!

I am planning on the latter, but with at least one night spent "out on the town" .. gotta celebrate our freedom whilst we have it ;)

Food plan is as follows:

Fri - HM pizza & garlic bread

Sat - HM chilli and rice

Sun - BBQ

Mon - Pork chops with leftover salad from BBQ

Tues - Pasta & sauce

Wed - Veggie risotto, although I probably won't have many veggies by then .. but it is market day .. so we'll see.

Exercise wise:

Lifting floor boards and joists ad nauseum, with a bit of stretching involved when I paint windows.

Plus side:

6 nights of uninterrupted sleep from DD  ......

Target:

lose 2lbs

 

Zed42 is still tired....

Tiredness and dieting do not go hand in hand for me. Survival is just about the only mechanism.

3 broken night's sleep by DD is enough to polish you off. DH has gone back to bed now for an hour as he says he can't function (know the feeling mate, but somehow I don't think my work would be quite so understanding!).

Last night apparently was a nightmare at 03:00am ... dolphins and elephants chasing her! Gah! Whilst I have sympathy ....... I am lacking sleep!

Have I mentioned, that I'm a bit tired? Well ... ? Oh I have, oh right. Sorry.

Right, tonight is WW WI .... I'm going for a gain of 2lbs, maybe 3lbs.

This morning I weigh 9st 6lbs, last weeks WI was 9st 4.5lbs. There's no point worrying about it, I've had a heavy week and it's done.

I've done no exercise, eaten and drunk too much .... it would be a little unfair for true dieters if I lost, wouldn't it!!

Oh hell, it's the last day of the month isn't it. So, it's a day I'm meant to look forward at the coming month, set new fresh goals and plans, and be all enthused ...... yawn ...... ok, girl, pull yourself together, um, goal .... ok, I have a goal .... 14th September 2008 ... be 9st .... why the 14th ... cos that's my birthday ...

I've been pussy-footing around for way too long, yes I could call it maintenance, but I really want to get to 9st ... even if it's just to say ... "Nope, this is too hard to maintain" and go back to the 9st 5.5lbs which I've been maintaining since last November.

Ok, I'll be back tonight post WI, to declare how many pounds I have to lose in 6wks.

In the meantime I think I need more caffeine!!!

I'm just treading water and have been all day ... totally worn out.

Not helped by my DD's night visitation ..... she is not, I repeat, is not going to be doing that tonight!!

Dental appointment went ok, except I need to have a filling replaced. So, that's the week after next..... unless of course, she's booked it in for some other random date ! DD was happy ... she got a Snowhite sticker from them, LOL!

B - Porridge with fat free yoghurt, fruit compote

S - HM biscuit

L - Pittas x 2 filled with grated carrot, cucumber, lettuce, reduced fat houmous and red pepper with a tiny grating of cheese

D - HM cottage pie with chantenay carrots and garden peas.

Fennel tea with honey ...... drinking!

I wish my DD would actually finish her dinner ... it's been an hour so far ... I'm bored! DH & I finished a long long time ago.

OMG .... how to gain 3lbs in as many days...

Ok, ok, I know .... or do I? No, not really, but the fact of the matter is .. on Thursday night at approx. 19:00 .. I wi'd as 9st 4.5lbs ..... and this morning at approx. 09:36 ... I weighed 9st 7.5lbs.

Now, whilst this is going some .. and of course add 2lbs for natural gain during the day weight .. gives me a gain of 5lbs !!! HTF?

I have no idea, or do I? I think I ought to do a brain dump of my food intake for the weekend.

Thurs night .. Chinese & wine

Friday .... small lump of cheese, pork / dijon & port dish with rice and carrots, pimms/diet lemonade, strawberries & apples, glass of white wine. Slice of bread, butter & jam.

Sat ... out for lunch .. beef sandwich with coffee

Sat mid-morning .. 1 HM biscuit

Sat pm, ice lolly

Sat evening ... barbeque with way too much meat ... 3 chicken kebabs, 2 burgers, 2 sausages, potato salad, coleslaw and way way too much bread, oh and lashing of sauv blanc. Pringles.

Sun ... brunch was bacon & egg butties with coffee

Sat evening ... barbeque with 1 beef burger and 1 lamb burger, potato salad & coleslaw and of course more bread products! Sauv blanc. Packet of crisps.

Oh ok, if I put it like this, no bloody wonder I'm way up ... grin, can't blame it on some random object forcing me to eat and drink copious amounts (combined with no exercise!).

So, now that I have set the record straight in my own mind ... how to lose those 5lbs in 4 days? Any ideas folks, because I'm kinda thinking ... LOST CAUSE!!!

However, am I actually dispirited by this? No. And why not? Well because my dears ... it's the first time this year that we've actually managed to get the barbeque out !!

Also, as we all repeatedly go on about ... this weight loss is for life not just to diet and put it all back on again.

So, yes, there will be weekend's like this one where we'll put on weight. The key however, is to pick ourselves back up on the Monday morning and get back to it, and not to blow the week completely, which of course, can lead to blowing the next week and on and on ad nauseum to regain all the weight, and more.

My plan for the following days ... is to eat light and "clean"

Food today:

Lemon juice with hot water - done

Coffee x 2 with s/s milk ... ongoing

Water ... ongoing

Porridge with HM compote and fat free yoghurt .. done

Dinner .... is going to be mushroom stroganoff with rice and carrots (nb, must buy cream)

Exercise .... wallpaper stripping

It's too hot here for me to run, and especially too hot for me to go to a non-air conditioned gym with a tin roof.

I've just been for a 30 minute walk and OMG it's too hot!!

Knee ... twingeing, no run today ... but will go over the w/e hopefully.

Foodplan ... as stated, with the addition of the last solitary biscuit in the jar .. it was lonely ;)

Thanks for your comments about DH :) He was chuffed :) And last night when he went for the Chinese .. he got wolf-whistled ..... the things that make you happy, LOL!

Right, no time to dally .. a 1,001 things to achieve before 5pm ..... wish me luck!!

Zed42 weighs in...

1lb lighter than last week ... so, 9st 4.5lbs (130.5lbs).

Obviously the 10 gallons of water (ok, slight exaggeration!), the 20,000 cups of coffee (well, 3 anyway), the porridge with the HM strawberry & rhubarb compote & fat free yoghurt ... and the 2 mile "run" around the block helped. LOL.

This day has been a funny old day.

And I have big news for you all .... DH has been running !

Why is this big news? Well, because he hasn't done any exercise in over a year and certainly not run in about 20yrs. But the other week we got to talking and about spending more time together and ways we could achieve this ... and he agreed to go running ... so last week he was despatched to a running shop and analysed etc., and came back with a pair of Asics.

Today he went for his first foray around the block, and I fear that although 3 stone overweight (shhh ... he'll say it's only 2!) .... and with no fitness to speak of .... I think he's faster than me, either that or he got the time wrong (here's to hoping ;) ). Monday will be the true "test" ... we're going together.

But, it's interesting .... mentally he feels cheered post-run, although he mega grumbled and feared it before going ... so a big cheer to my DH !!!

Me, then feeling "pressured" by the whole thought, decided to wuss it and not go .... so immediately I went and put on my running kit and went and did it .... omg ... it was hot .. how on earth do you lot do it day in/day out in the heat? Pace 10:49 ....

Ok, so plan for the week ahead:

Friday:

Friend coming to stay for the w/e ..... sc pork joint with port and dijon mustard with new potatoes and veggies .... Pimms & lemonade

Exercise - 3 mile run, dependant on time .... have to get house clean and grocery shopping done, oh and fit in a full day's work too.

Saturday:

Lunch will be soup (I hope, if we've actually got any in the freezer, otherwise ... lunch will be out)

Dinner will be either a barbeque if it's not raining (not hopeful) or HM fish pie

.... alcohol will be either sauv blanc or pimms & lemonade, weather determining

Exercise: None

Sunday:

Lunch - will be brunch ... bacon & egg butties all round

Dinner - will either be barbq or fish pie (it's meant to be sunny on Sunday and raining on Saturday)

Exercise - 3 mile run, but dependant on whether hungover or not.

Monday:

Dinner - mushroom stroganoff / rice / veggies

Exercise - 2 mile run with DH

Tues:

Dinner - HM pizza and garlic bread

Exercise - 2 mile run, followed by gym ... or pilates class

Wed:

Dinner - Spanish mushroom omelette

Exercise - none

All of the above subject to change as always ;)

Now, my dears ... it's that time ..... wine and chinese call ... have a fun evening ;)
