It's my birthday..

Or rather it's the day I gave birth.

Which for me was way more memorable.

And took a lot longer to "recover"  from.

I love my DD to pieces

BUT .. 5yrs on .... we've finally had that bottle of champers .. 5yrs on ... I'm loving the Barbies and the HSM ... we're set ...

And I'm comfortable in the shape I am ...

Tomorrow is her party. .....  report will be coming as  a paranoid female!

Zed42 didn't go to the gym...

There I said it. I had the best of intentions, but I did feel like cr**, so all I did yesterday was vegged in front of the computer.

I did cook dinner (turkey & chickpea curry with rice), but I think that was about the full extent of my day.

I am now dosed up and feeling better than yesterday. I could "afford" to feel awful yesterday, but I can't for the rest of the week.

I am half dressed in my gym kit, so I will be going later.

Weight this morning: 9st 6lbs.

My DH is out to sabotage me ... he is, he really is.

We're aiming to go to the cinema this evening and we were across the market and asked him what he fancied for dinner (bearing in mind, we were standing in front of the fruit & veg stall) ... he replied .. "pizza" .... NOOOOOOOOO!!!!

So I promptly dragged him to a W.I. stall (women's institute ... homemade pies and stuff) and bought a "ready meal", a steak & kidney pie, which I'll serve up with new potatoes and veggies.

If you think I'm going for a cr***y pizza the day before W.I. you've got another think coming! Someone says (GCQMom, I think) "does it rate a 10" ... that particular pizza place barely scores a 2 .... and yes, we'll be going there on Friday anyway with DD post-HSM3.

But for now, it's 11:28 and I have her pressies to wrap, so ciao for now and have a great day.

It's perishing here, really hard frost and yesterday it snowed!!

Zed42 has a cold

Yes folks I did indeed go to the gym, came back, had a relaxing soak in the bath, ate dinner (salmon en croute, wild rice, broccoli & carrots), a couple of glasses of wine .... and physically felt myself getting sick.

I can't explain it, over the course of 3hrs I went from feeling healthy to bleurgh!
Which is where you find me this morning.

Full of cold.

This is NOT the week for a cold, which, I guess is probably why I have one!

So, I'm pumping myself full of cold relief and echinacea like it's gone out of fashion, going to take it fairly easy today, in the vain belief that this will sort it out. Today, I can "afford" to be sick, the rest of the week I can't.

Of course, I knew I was tempting fate when I pre-filled in my gym plan in my notebook for tonight. Gah.

Even so, unless I get much worse, I will be going to the gym, even if I don't do so long, so much. Because I'm barely getting back into the swing of things, stopping now could be fateful.

Weight this morning: 9st 7.25lbs (which, btw, is much better than yesterday's!)

I want to be 9st 5.5lbs by Nov 22nd (or less), that's my current aim. Why then? Because Nov 22nd was the day I made "gold" at WW (ie reached my target), and it would mean I have at least maintained for a year.

And I don't mean it like that "at least", it's just that I'd kinda hoped to have made it to 9st 0lbs and stayed there. Perhaps that's the aim for 2009.

Whatever, this is the longest I've maintained weight loss in my adulthood, and if I remain at this weight for the rest of my life, I'll be happy with that.

Food plan for today incorporates a turkey & chick pea curry for dinner, presuming of course I find the turkey out of the freezer, LOL. Chick peas have been soaking overnight.

I had porridge yesterday morning, instead of my "normal" fruit compote, I had banana and honey, made a pleasant change. I just wondered if it would keep my feeling full for longer. I think it did, dunno. May try again today. But then again, if I have a cold I ought to avoid dairy, which oops, isn't a great start as I have milk in my coffee.

I'm rambling, I'm incoherent .... please excuse me!!

Another week, another attempt

Well, exercise wise, I did "ok" last week. Oh, what do I mean, I did "ok", I did better than I've done in months :) It wasn't as much as I'd planned to do, but then again I tend to be all or nothing type of gal, so for me to do some and not all, and then again, not nothing, was an achievement in it's own right.

Mon - Gym
Tue - Pilates
Fri - Gym
Sat - Gym

This week, is going to be a busier week, it's DD birthday on Friday, her party on Saturday and I have both M-i-L's to stay for the weekend, the house looks a wreck, DH dumped coaldust all over the kitchen on Saturday (2hrs after I'd scrubbed the floor!). He has now stripped the dining room (remember the one I scrubbed last Wed) for a carpenter to do his thing finishing the shutters and creating wood shavings everywhere.

Am I going to be a stresshead this week? Probably.

This w/e food has been "shabby" ... not helped by DH saying to me, let's go out for dinner last night, as DD is away at her grandma's, and then of course a "beer" afterwards, just cos we can. We're like kids in a sweetshop when DD is away, just cos it's really the only time we go out on our own.

But, I don't want to turn this week, into a continuous takeaway / eating out fest.

So, exercise wise this week, let's be realistic:

Mon - Gym
Tue - Pilates isn't on this week, so gym it will be
Wed - Gym
Thur - nothing
Fri - nothing
Sat - nothing
Sun - Gym

Foodwise, I need to be better planned.

Mon - Thinking salmon with wild rice and veggies (though have no idea if I even have salmon in!)
Tues - Turkey & chickpea curry with cous cous (or rice)
Wed - we're going to the cinema, so have to contemplate that closer to the time!
Thurs - normally Chinese post WW, but have my ma here, so hmmm (prob still Chinese ;) ).
Fri - Pizza Hut for lunch (it's DD's birthday and we're going to take her to see HSM3 with pizza post it!), Dinner needs to be something slow cooked I think, as DD has a Halloween party to go to. Something with chicken perhaps.
Sat - party food for lunch, dinner may be roast beef with all the trimmings
Sun - my ma goes home, DH's ma still here ... so I'll be losing interest about now ... hmmm ...... fish pie perhaps (although my M-i-L doesn't like fish, gah)

Sorry, thinking out loud.

I had this really weird dream last night about my freezer being so full that I couldn't close the lid and therefore everything was slowly defrosting, and continually re-arranging the stuff in there to try and fit it in, eventually discovering the lid was bent, hence a seal not being formed, so holding the lid in place until I could get someone to get me some duct tape (oh don't worry, the dream went on to get far, far, far weirder and nothing to do with freezers, but instead running from some abductor and at an airport and oh, oh, oh ..... methinks I need to take a chill pill, LOL.


Zed42 TGIF!

Well folks, I didn't manage to go for a walk yesterday, as a gale blew up and having several windows missing (away for repair) meant that I had to stay home and babysit them until DH got back.

My WI last night .. 1/2lb down.  I was a little disappointed with that as my home scales reckoned I'd be a good 1 - 1.5lbs down, but hey ho.

Today, I squeezed in a gym session at lunchtime and was strict with myself that I had to fit getting there / back, exercise and showered within 60mins .. I did it ... just!

Obviously it was not a full body workout, LOL.

In fact it was rather a small workout, but a workout nontheless.

Walked there briskly
1mile run ... and I didn't walk :) (108 cals)
8mins on the elliptical (70 cals)
Ab Crunches .. 3 sets of 15 reps, left / right / middle ... Ouch!
Walked back again

Not much, but better than nothing, and it's perked me up for the afternoon too, which is probably just as well, as work is kicking off Royally!

Tonight, DH and I are having a "cook off" .. Gordon Ramsay is having a new series of cookalongs and we're going to be doing just that:

Warm goats cheese salad
Salmon en croute
Rhubarb & Ginger crumble

D'oh.

Yesterday was manic. I cleaned a lot of the house. My exercise took the form of scrubbing the dining room floor on my hands and knees.

I was acheing from the Pilates class and ran out of time and interest to go to the gym yesterday. So I took that as my rest day.

I'm meant to be going to the gym today, but that was always going to be more tricky time wise, as I'm working today and then WW this evening, and there's no way I'd be going to the gym after WW.

I was hoping to squeeze it in between work and WW, but DH has had to go to a meeting in another town and therefore I'm more likely to be picking DD up instead.

I think, my aim for today, will not be the gym, but perhaps go for a walk at lunchtime, at least that way I'll get something done. Yes, a walk sounds like a great plan.

Foodwise, yesterday was a bit "iffy", but not too bad.

Weight this morning, dunno yet, haven't got dressed as I was procrastinating on the exercise front, but now that I've decided it's to be a walk, I can go shower, get dressed and weigh myself, and therefore predict, guess how tonight's WW WI will go.

No surprise there then! My "abs" ache, you know in that exercised way :)

Weight this morning: 9st 6.5lbs.

I was intending to a do a 3 mile run and a Pilates class tonight. I'm definitely going to do the Pilates class, but not yet sure about the treadmill run. My knees are twingeing a little and it may be better to rest them today and run tomorrow. I'll see how I feel later on.

Food yesterday was fine. I actually ate ... breakfast, lunch and dinner ... at the right kinda times, how amazing is that!!

Today's food plan:

lemon juice with hot water
2 x coffee with s/s milk
Lunch was 1 slice of bread and butter, thin scraping, small slice, followed by egg & cress sandwich (2 eggs, 1tbsp salad cream, cress and 2 small slices of bread)

Dinner will be some kind of pasta with veggies. I bought some wholewheat conchigliani (sp?) .. y'know "shell pasta", LOL, which as I've got some cherry toms and bell peppers, I thought I might roast them and serve with the HM tomato sauce which I made last month. Hmmm ....

But for now, having read other people's posts about doing too much, I'm going to listen to my body and go and have a lay down with my book for a couple of hours (my smilies box has changed shape, and I'm sure there are less today?)

Zed42 is back from the gym!!!

Well, after my post and then Tatumsmom's post this morning. I decided to "seize the moment" and go and join the gym today and not tomorrow as I had been saying I would (and have been saying for the past month).

I then came back, wrote myself up a timetable for my exercise for the next fortnight and informed DH that this was going to happen and I would need his support in this.

Tonight, I got DD ready for bed, and myself ready for the gym, and whilst DH did the storytime with DD, off I went for nearly 2hrs to the gym.

So, for my benefit, here's what I did:

Treadmill: 2 miles (3.2km) - 22:07 (pace 11:03), 207 calories
Chest Press: 15kg (3 sets of 12 reps)
Vertical Traction: 15kg (3 sets of 12 reps) ... need to increase the weight next time.
Elliptical: L6 - 8 mins - 59 cals (did try L8, but only managed 2mins)
Abductor: 15kg (3 sets of 15reps, 10pulses)
Adductor: as above
Ab Crunches: 3 sets of 15reps, left / right / middle
Tricep Press: 25kg (2 sets of 15reps)
Leg Extension: 7.5kg/10kg (2 sets of 12 reps) .. knee started to twinge
Rowing Machine: L5 / 5 mins - 43 cals - 852mtres
Bike: L3 / 12 mins - 73 calories - 4.38km
Stepper ... started and lost the will to live after 90 seconds ... enough was enough, LOL.

Comments: Lost a load of fitness, but even so, it's a good benchmark to start me off again :)



Zed42 is feeling FAT!

WI this week, showed me up 2.5lbs over the course of 3wks.
WI this morning ... showed me up a further pound.
Food this w/e has been tasty but atrocious.

Thurs night - Chinese
Fri - fish and chips
Sat - lunch out (Welsh rarebit with 2 rashers of back bacon too), dinner was sausages, mash and veggies
Sun - brunch was bacon and egg butties, DD at a party .. so a slice of birthday cake, and dinner was an Indian takeaway.

This morning, I'm sitting here oddly enough feeling gargantuan in my self-inflicted punishment of freshly laundered jeans, which I struggled to do the button up on.

It has to stop, and it has to stop now.

Lack of planning and lack of food shopping have brought me to this place, add that to the fact that it's nearly the end of the month and food levels are low in the house.

This morning I have started off well:

1 x hot water with lj
Porridge with apple puree and f/f yoghurt
Water is sitting on the desk

Dinner tonight, is going to have to be a mish-mash of whatever's in the freezer ... probably some kind of casserole with rice and veggies.

Tomorrow, I am going to re-join the gym and I am going to a Pilates class in the evening at said gym. 9wks till Christmas, and 6wks till my works do ... time to lose at least 4.5lbs.

More importantly I need to tone back up, I haven't done any proper exercise since I came back from the US .... in May!!!!

Which is plainly ridiculous!

Zed42's 1st of 2 ....

Well, there's an original title if ever I wrote one!

As you know I've been treading water for a long while now. I've not been to WW for 2wks due to work. So, tonight is the night, to wipe the slate clean and to kick myself into touch (what does that mean!)

I know I'm a little "up" and I know I'm feeling a little flabby, but I equally know I'm not THAT up, and with a bit of renewed vigour I can sort this out before it gets any further.

I still haven't re-joined the gym or done any running. I haven't done a meal plan this week. So, these are my 2 targets for this week. To sit down and sort out my schedule (and DH's) to ensure my success in this.

Things are so manic here currently, I have a house covered in scaffolding, builders creating havoc, DH balancing on a roof ...... DD's birthday party in a fortnight ..... I need to get a grip, LOL!
