Working Mommas: My Bullet-Proof Vest

I'm back after a month of recluse.  Dealing with the menstrual issue took a toll on my body.  I am wondering how this month will be....  I am officially off Yaz and not on anything at this time.  It would be best to have my system rest.

Anyway, I finally posted a pic.   As you can see, I am wearing a vest - my friends and family HATE it when I wear a vest because I wear it everyday.  It's my bullet proof-vest - makes me feel 'safe' and hides all off my bulges.   It's frayed at the edges, yet I persisted to wear it to most everyday outings and casual family gatherings.  My friends are sick and tired of it!

My vest has been my blankie for a few years, and I've decided to stop hiding behind it.  Yes - I will give it up as part of my wardrobe staple so that I can deal with my weight issue.  As expected, I am hesitant.  First, I put it in the back of my closet and swore to myself that I would never use it again.  But during a wardrobe 'emergency' - I pulled it out from the back of the closet and put it on some ill-fitting clothes.  eeks.

So now, to no avail, I have put it in the donation pile, which I will drop off this week.  Bye bye vest - you have served your purpose.  With some sense of relief, I will finally let you go.  I am sure my friends and family will also be relieved to NEVER see it again!

Working Mommas: My Buddha Moment

My Buddha Moment

Observing an old tree that does not fight against the wind, but allows its branches to sway while keeping its body strong and its roots grounded.

Working Mommas: World's Longest Period Cycle Is Over!

That was a total of 3.5 weeks of weak and strong output.  That's a month worth of damn headache, cramps, bloatedness and crankiness - I really was not myself and hated it.  AND - it really messed with my appetite...  I've gone back up to 164lbs to date.

I'm getting off Yaz and will try to find an alternative, perhaps the one that allows quarterly cycles.

Working Mommas: I keep bleeding, keep, keep bleeding...

I've had my period for damn 2 weeks now, and there's no slowing down!  I started my new Yaz birth control pills, and it's causing some havoc in my system!

Because my cycle has been elongated, the usual factors that accompany have also been drawn out...like

eating...grumpiness...moodiness...bloatedness...tender breats...etc.

I am so pissed!  And no amount of Midol helps!

Working Mommas: The Last Buffet

OK - so after the massive Mother's Day buffet, which I thoroughly enjoyed yesterday, I am starting all over - AGAIN.

Yes, on the Hoodia, as it seems to agree with me.  It is my third (?) week and my flatulence has gone down.  I've also learned to watch my water intake so that I do not have another parched mouth attack in the middle of the night.

The rundown of today's intake (Monday 5/11):

Breakfast:  coffee and biscuit
Lunch:  water and Lean Cuisine
Dinner:  4 pieces of chicken tenders, a biscuit and water

Now I know this is not the healthiest intake, but compared to yesterday, believe me, it is quite an improvement.

Now, here's a rundown of yesterday's (5/10)  intake, which may scare you a bit:
BRUNCH - ham, rice, salmon, shrimp, eggs benedict, creme brulee, coffee, roast beef, vegetables, mojito

This, of course, is a list and not indicative of size or portion - which was embarrassingly humongous.    I had to keep my movie star sunglasses on whenever I revisted the buffet line.

I can go on and say, "Well I am a Momma and I'm Working on it, and after all, it is Mother's Day..."

But even I have to admit, I know myself enough that I simply need to stay away from buffets.  Thus, I have made a commitment to steer away from buffets for the rest of the year.

Working Mommas: Hoodia...parched mouth?

Woke up today at 3am with a parched mouth...  I was extremely thirsty, so I made the trek down to the fridge to grab myself an iced cold glass of water...

I sat there wondering why I was so thirsty, and kept pouring myself glass upon glass of water.  I must have drank 5 large glasses of water...  Then off to bed I went.

Woke up again at 5:40am with the same parched mouth.  This time, I was able to quench my thirst after 2 full glasses of water.

So, it seems, that one side effect from Hoodia that I am expriencing is extreme thirst.  This is to the contrary of what I've heard of Hoodia - it is supposed to suppress both hunger and thirst.  The bushmen of South Africa originally used the effects of the root to control hunger and thirst during their long hunting journeys.  It appears it works on my appetite but not on thirst.

At least I am no longer dehydrated!

Working Mommas: Hoodia...so far

Hoodia so far had been good.  My appetite seems more controlled.

I have decided to take up the pick axe again and chisel this big mountain.  Chiseling away, I am...

I still have my hand in that start up venture...we are just looking for some funding.  Some more work on the business plan needs to be done - then the funding application will be submitted.  Admittedly, working for sweat equity has been quite painful - but when you have a vision, you have a vision.

For those of you who want to start your own business, I wanted to give you heads up on the tremendous lot of loans, grants and funds that are available via the SBA. So if you are serious about venturing on you own, don't overlook the millions in funds available via the SBA thanks to the government stimulus packages intended to create jobs in the market asap to offset the mess  the banking industry has created for generations to come.

So if you have a somewhat defined dream to start your own business - go for it!   Hoodia think you are not to?  (Sorry, couldn't help it.)

My thoughts are random today, and I get the feeling I simply need to get out of the house.  Here I go...

Working Mommas: Eating Binge Today

So I found out late yesterday that I did not get the job that I recently applied for...  It would have been a great opportunity, along with international travel, and I thought I did rather well at the initial interview stage...But nope, no invitation back for a second round...

I was so frustrated that I went on an eating binge.

To recount, here is what I had to eat today:

Breakfast:  Apple Fritter and Large Coffee

Lunch:  Large Mushroom and Cheese Burgers and Soda (No Fries)

Snack:  Mocha and Cake

Dinner:  Pizza

What an absolute piggy I was today.  I just wanted to hide that rejection by eating everything I could stuff in my face.  I am ashamed, but facing it by blogging and admitting to it.  It doesn't make it right, but at least I know what I've done and can call it out.

Walk...of...shame...

Working Mommas: Hoodia think you are?

Zumba yesterday - my body aches - but it was fun and I sweated like a pig!  Felt great afterwards.  My daugther is sweet, and handed me one of her juice boxes after Zumba saying,"Here you go Mommy...Good job!"

My cuz gave me a bottle of Hoodia that she never opened.  I will give it a try this week and see how I feel.  Heard good things about it - that it doesn't make your heart race like the other pills.  Last time I tried taking a supplement, my heart raced so fast, I thought I was having a panic attack.  I was also parched all the time, no matter how much water I drank...

I'll let you guys know how this week goes with the Hoodia...
