Weigh-In Anticipation

Tomorrow is weigh-in day for me. I have been true to my diet
and been diligent in keeping up my food diary. Measuring my
vegetable portions even ... trying to keep myself near the 1200
calorie total allowance. (I have had some days close to 1300
a couple of times.)

I am still having some of the bloated feeling that is very uncomfortable.
I'm drinking LOTS of water, at least for me (8 to 10, and some days
even 12, 8-oz glasses per day) so I don't think I should be retaining
water? I also don't salt my food. EVER. I'm seriously thinking about
trying a diuretic to get some relief!  This is not something I typically
experience and I really REALLY don't like it at all! The only thing really
keeping me from doing it is the fear that I could be spending any more
time in the bathroom. OMG drinking so much water makes it seem as
if I live in there!

I will be SICK if I get on that scale tomorrow and I haven't lost anything
or, worse, find I gained weight. The food on Jenny Craig is really good
but I find I want more to eat some times ... not that I need more, that I
WANT more. I'm not hungry, I just want more. I'm not sure why. I tell
myself that going without more is what is going to get me to the results
that I want. As long as the weight comes down, I'm good. If it doesn't,
I am going to be so disappointed and discouraged. I'm wondering if
I'm not a food addict?

Today I am taking my daughters to the local Farmer's Market. I'm thinking
it will be a nice outting and it could encourage them to consider some
fruits and vegetables that they maybe haven't tried before. My youngest
daughter has Autism and is really particular about the textures of food
but she surprises us from time to time by suddenly trying and really
enjoying something new and unexpected. For the longest time, she did
not eat anything that didn't crunch. Now she eats peanut butter and also
cottage cheese ... go figure!

My puppies are a week old now. Each of them is now over 2 lbs ... that's
pretty big for 8 days old. They are SO cute! I will see if I can post a picture
tomorrow. I'm hopeful that they will open their eyes by next weekend for
the first time. They are SO much fun to hold and cuddle.

Slow down....

Hi there! I have the exact same problem with WANTING more food. Some days it kills me not to put more on my plate - even when I know that I'm truly not hungry. My problem is that I typically fill my plate last and then race through my meal so I can be done before my girls are. Some meals I'm finished eating and I can barely remember what the food tasted like. To solve the problem, I've been trying to sloooooooow down when I eat. Chew slowly, put my fork down, sip some water or milk in between bites, chat with the family, etc. If I can do that, then I don't feel like I need to keep eating beyond the point of satisfaction.

BTW ~ What kind of puppies do you have?

Thanks!

I really enjoyed looking at your site and the pictures of the puppies. I have never heard of Harriers before, but I had to LOL when I saw the pics. We adopted what we think is a Walker Coon Hound (mix probably) from the shelter and she looks just like your Harriers - only much taller. Anyway, your puppies are absolutely adorable and I can see how they would take your mind off of eating!

Weigh-in

I can always remember the weeks where I was confident I had done well, and then the weeks where I wasn't so sure, and almost wouldn't even get on the scale, and when I finally did, found out that I had a loss or maintain!  So I sure know how those uneasy feelings can be.  You know you are doing all the right things though....it sure sounds like you are!  Whatever the outcome, please don't get discouraged.  Believe me,  probably 90 plus percent of everyone that has done JC has had a week where they have a gain.  And if that happens, it may just be some "adjustment"  that we women tend to have with fluid/water.  Four years ago when my doctor put me on blood pressure meds, he also put me on a diuretic, but I find that unless I know I've really gone on a "eating spree"  (thankfully, not in the last couple of weeks!)with sodium packed foods, I rarely use them, and just drink the water to naturally flush the excess fluid.

Thanks for your comments!  They always bring a smile to my face and they always are so  encouraging!  I'm glad if I can help someone else be motivated to move more....it motivates me to see all that the other EP'ers are doing to get fit!  Maybe next time you see your doctor/cardiologist, he could give you some guidelines and a program to gradually build up and strengthen the healthy part of your heart!  LOL...I don't know about the capris/Tee being the uniform of us 40-somethings, but they're the "comfort clothes" of choice for me!
