Before After

no changes

No changes in my weight this week.  And, I'm not surprised since there hasn't been much effort.

Unfortunately, I just typed up a whole long blog and then LOST it.  So, here is a condensed version.

Yesterday started my spring break.  Last night we went to kids movie night at church and then went to Barnes and Noble to have Bob from the Biggest Loser sign his new book for us.  Short story - we were WAY back in line at about 8:45ish.  I had my 3 year old with me - a customer service person took us to the front of the line b/c she felt sorry for me - and thought Cami was VERY tired!  We were out of there before 9!  (He is just as gorgeous in person!)

Tomorrow we are headed to NC until Thursday to visit my 90 year old great aunt.  We rented a van and I'm currently procrastinating from packing!

Friday night I have a Relay for Life for cancer research.  I'll be walking from 8-10pm.  (it's like a walk-a-thon)  Then the next Friday (April 18) I have another one with my old school where I'll walk from 10 pm - 2 am!  Should be fun!

Next Saturday we are off on a church retreat.  We have a BUSY spring break!  I'll need a break after that to recover!

I wish you all the best of luck on your efforts!

A lazy Saturday...

It's going to be a lazy Saturday! My dd doesn't have a softball game until 4:30, meaning we don't have to be there until 3:30!  So we have between now and then to RELAX!  Yeah!  We had a busy week this week.  Church on Wednesday, game on Thursday, and an outing on Friday at my old school (45 minutes away).  An outing is another word for a dance, but they call it an outing b/c it's only elementary school!  Last year I taught 4th graders there and the year before I had the same kids for 3rd grade.  So, I really miss them now that they are in 5th.  I am also best buddies with their 2 5th grade teachers this year, so I was invited to come see them!  It's really funny that I went to the last outing in the fall and I missed them all SO much b/c my class, at that time, was full of behavior problems and I was very frustrated!  But now, my current class has grown on me, and the behavior problems have gone WAY down, so I can't say that anymore.  I do miss the old kids, but I REALLY have grown to love my new class!  For the last 2 years, I had a LOT of girls in my class, but now I have mostly boys.  That's one big difference.  Plus, this year, I not only have behavior problems, but also learning disabilities.  It's taken awhile to get used to, but I do really like it now.  They are just different from what I came from and I finally realize that now!

OK, enough about school!  Unfortunately, I gained .2 this week!  But, at least it's only .2 b/c I did eat quite a bit of Easter candy!  Right after I weighed myself this morning, I looked at my calendar.  I have the kind you tear a page off every day and it had an AWESOME quote on it that I KNEW I had to share on here:

"It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop."

                                      - Confucius

I know that I've been on and off lately, and it is SO hard to stay on, but I am so happy to have this blog where I can read about other's successes!  That really can be such a motivator!  I love to see others being successful and hope that I can get better too!  I have one more week before Spring Break.  I know that week will be a tough one b/c we are going out of town to NC.  We are driving and then will stay in a cabin with the whole fam!  (We'll see how long we'll all be happy together!  There are 9 of us, including a  2, 3, 4, and 12 year old!)  But, food will be a definite challenge!  I think we'll be doing a lot of our own cooking, though, so that might help!  I'll make sure I'm on that shopping trip! My great aunt has an AMAZING yard we could run around in, so we'll have to bring some yard toys too!

OK, off to eat breakfast!  I hope you all have an amazing weekend!  Let's all work on staying on track!

OK, I'll be honest...

My weight was up 3 pounds since the last time I logged it.  UGH!  And, since I weigh in everyday, I know I threw myself off yesterday!  I was down all week and made the DUMB choice of having pizza last night!  I knew better, but chose to do it anyway!  I'm hoping I can work on another great week, though, like I had this week.  I stayed in points, drank lots of water, and EXERCISED!  I love that it stays light out later - that is SO helpful!

We are off to a bday party today and I have to do some Easter shopping (on my own!).  I always have my little one with me since she goes to my school now, so today is the first day I've had to leave her with my mom to go shop for her!

We went to the most beautiful Good Friday service at my church last night.  I had never been before and the one they did last night was AMAZING!  I pretty much cried through the whole thing.  It really gave me a new light to look at some things that have been going on in my life.  Not with me personally, but I've had some people I know who are going through some things that I don't agree with.  I've decided that's not really my place, I just have to pray for them.

Ok, off to have breakfast.  It looks like a great day for a smoothie!  Have a great weekend - and Gwynn - have a great spring break (I'm so jealous! ).

A little off topic today

I'll be going a little off topic today - with Good Friday.  As you know, I am a teacher.  This is my first year in the county where I'm working, but I've been teaching 4 years before this.  Apparently, this county decided this year not to have any religious holidays because everyone was starting to want off for their religion.  Previously, they have had Good Friday off and so, in protest, MANY people didn't go to work.  LOTS of bus drivers did not work, so there was NO bus service at many schools.  Then, at my school, we had about 50% attendance and at my dad's school they had 1200 kids ABSENT!  (600 were there).  At my older daughter's school, they had over 900 ABSENT!  Now, after the day is over, I'd have to say that I had a GREAT day!  I only had 12 kids and we just had a fun day.  BUT, the problem I have is that this is a Christian day and that the MAJORITY of these people did not take the day off for that reason.  I'm annoyed that they were using this Christian day as a day off out of spite or for whatever reason.  They are trying to make a point.  The lawyer at the school board said that if there were a lot of absences on this day they'd consider having it off in future years.  You know that saying, WWJD?  I don't think he'd be skipping school to make a point!  - OK, Rant is over - thanks for listening!

We did have a great day today.  It was fun getting to play with the kids.  I've had a great week so far and I'm hoping it will show on the scale in the morning.  And, in defense of Gwynn, I weigh myself daily too.  I think it keeps you in check.  I only log it once a week though.  I'm hoping to have a good weekend, with Easter candy and all!

I hope you all are having a great week too!

Wednesday

Ok, I am finally back!  I've been having trouble staying on track, but since Sunday, I've been doing better!  I walked on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.  Since it stays light out longer, it is possible now!  Tonight we had church and I had some bonding time with my little one while my oldest had youth group.  So, no walking, but we had Subway for dinner and I'm excited to have the second half of that sandwich tomorrow!

My kids at school have ONE more day of testing and then we'll be DONE!  It's hard to say how they've done, as we can't read it over their shoulder.  The first day they seemed to be really on task and focusing and we saw them using lots of good test taking skills!  But, it's kind of gone downhill since then!  I will just be so happy when it's over!  We still have two more weeks until Spring Break, but then not long until it's OVER!

So, tomorrow night we have a softball game, but then we are off until next week.  It should be a nice weekend.  I'll have to keep walking!

Wish me luck as I continue in this TOUGH journey!

12 years ago today...

12 years ago today, my first baby girl was born!  And, currently it is 10:17 pm Eastern time.  I had her at 10:06 pm after being in the hospital for over 24 hours!  It is just amazing how quickly time flies!  We had dinner out the other night for her (I had grilled chicken!) and tonight, we had cake and then went to the movies (just the 2 of us!).  We don't get to do that very often since I also have my little one.  But, we saw College Road Trip and we were the ONLY ones in the theater!  That was fun!  We sat right in the middle.

Someone at school told me today "YOU - have a 12 year old?!"  I was so happy to hear that I don't LOOK like I'm old enough to have a 12 year old!  Now, if only I could get the rest of the body in gear with that!  I KNOW I can have a much longer life if I get healthier!  I'm still working on that!

My kids finished day 3 of FCAT's today.  We have a break until next Wednesday when we take another test and next Thursday we will be done.  I can't wait!  Some of them were getting discouraged after a certain amount of time and I told them something I heard someone say, from Finding Nemo "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming..."  Dory said that at some point where they were ready to give up.  I guess I need to keep that in mind when I'm working on my diet and healthier lifestyle and I think it's too hard - just keep swimming, just keep swimming!!!

Ok, well, off to bed.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY GIRL!  I LOVE YOU!

today's weigh in

Another Saturday that I am not able to attend WW.  I weighed myself in (with clothes!) and weighed 219.  That is down from the last weigh in!  I'm not quite sure why that has happened, but I'll take it!  I haven't been journaling or really counting points at all.  I have been trying to still drink the water, but I know I haven't been getting all of that in either!  I am still on frustration mode.  I just can't seem to get excited about weight loss right now.  I mean, I AM excited when I see the numbers go down, but I'm finding it VERY difficult to stay on track to MAKE the numbers go down!

Again, my neice and nephew stayed the night so I couldn't go to WW this morning.  I know I probably need to pick a new day and time, but my weekly schedule is usually SO packed and I HATE weighing in at night.  I am considering going back to WW online, but I was not very successful with that before.

I guess I'll just have to work on it more on my own.  A fellow EP'er sent me a message that she knew I could do it.  If she can, I know I can too!  Thanks Gwynn!

In other news, we have our big FCATs starting this week.  This is Florida's reading and math testing.   I am nervous for my kids, but I've done the best I can with them.  I just have to hope and pray that they will give it their best and do well.  Even the brightest child can get that test anxiety and not do so well.  My students have learning disabilities and tend to give up way before the typical child.  BUT, the good news is, that they really impressed me on the last test which was writing.  I have some that HATE to write and often refuse to do so, but EVERYONE WROTE FOR THAT TEST!  That gives me a lot of hope for this one too!

ONE good choice I made was yesterday.  It was a co-worker's birthday and another lady brought in a cheesecake for her.  It was the kind with all the different types of cheesecake in it.  I wanted some BAD!  So, the good choice I made was to split a piece with another co-worker who is also doing WW.  We got to indulge, but not as much!  It was so yummy!  And I didn't feel bad afterwards!

Our day will consist of a softball game and a party tonight for my oldest.  Our next door neighbor's bday is today and she is going to his party.  NEXT Thursday my baby is turning 12!  I still can't believe that!  Her party will be next Friday evening.  She's just going to have a few friends over to the house to watch a movie, eat pizza, and play some video games.  This is the first year she hasn't wanted something big and it's kind of a relief!  Less money and less stress!  Then, next Saturday, my former Mother-in-law (who I still call my mother-in-law) is coming to town to visit with the kids.  She and I are still close, so I'm looking forward to that too!

Ok, off to do chores, shower and softball!  HOpe you are all on the right track!

More Frustration!

I'm still facing more frustration!  I just can't seem to get back on track!  I do a great job during the day - I'm even able to say no to goodies offered at lunchtime at school!  But, I come home and EAT!  UGH!  And, to make matters worse, my weigh in day/time is not working for me!  I can't make it to WW if we have things going on!  Softball season has started for my DD and this past week we had pictures early and then the game later.  This Saturday coming up, we are babysitting for my niece and nephew overnight on Friday and they will be with us until about 11 am on Saturday.  Then, we have to leave for our game!  I guess I will just need to weigh in on my own for now.  That is very hard for me, but I'll just have to do it!

Practice was cancelled tonight due to rain, so I'm hoping to eat better and get some papers graded!  I have a lot of them to grade, but I've been slacking in that area too!  It's almost the end of the quarter, so I need to get on the ball!

OK, thanks for listening to my rant!  HOpe you are all doing better!

LOOOOOOONG DAY!

It was conference night tonight, so I was at school until 8:20 pm!  Here are some positivites for my day:

* I received my 2 boxes of GS cookies - luckily, I purchase 2 kinds that aren't my faves!  I only had one serving of each today!  One this morning and one this evening!

* I wasn't home so couldn't spend the evening snacking!

* I had 3 small slices of Dominos cheese pizza for dinner (provided by school).

* I had 12 out of 22 conferences!

* tomorrow is one step closer to Friday and Payday!

It has been an OK day, overall.  It's been realy cold so we will have to bundle up tomorrow!  I like those kinds of days!

Hope you all are doing well!

struggle, struggle, struggle!

This week has been full of ups and downs.  I do ok on my eating while working (there's no time for snacking), but once I get home, I can't seem to stop snacking!  I'm reading a couple of books (Skinny Bitch) and (100 Days of Weight Loss).  These are helpful, but I don't know where or why the motivation seems to go at about 4 pm each day.

I wasn't able to go and weigh in yesterday either, so the weight I logged in was from my own scale.  Softball season has begun and opening day was yesterday at 9 am.  We had to go early to find a parking spot!  There was no way I could have gotten up early to go to the 7 am meeting and the next one was at 8:30.  My meeting place is about 20 minutes away and I didn't have anyone to watch the girls while I went at 7 (plus, I just couldn't bring myself to get up that early!).  BUT, the softball schedule has us playing afternoon or evening games most of the time.  I think the earliest game on Saturdays is at 1 pm.  That's the beauty of my daughter playing for the majors!  All the minor teams play first in the day.  I'm happy that she is getting more excited about it too.  After playing soccer, she was thinking she didn't want to go back to softball, but she's been playing softball since she was 3!  (T-ball first).  And, SHE'S GOOD!  So, she's playing at a new park this year and I think was nervous about meeting new people, but the girls on her team have made friends with her and she is loving it!  Then, yesterday, she got a new baseball bag and new cleats and that helped her mood too!  Then, it rained so much yesterday, her game got cancelled/postponed to Monday!  So, hopefully, she'll have an awesome one!

My girls spent the night with their dad last night.  Usually, I find that very depressing, but I had a party to go to last night.  My old co-worker (and one of my best friends!) had a Mardi Gras themed party for her hubby's bday!  I knew she'd have good food and drinks, but I told myself on the way there I was only having one drink since I still had to come home. And I STUCK TO IT!   She made hurricanes (New Orleans style) and I had one!  Then I drank Diet Coke and water for the rest of the night!  I had the drink early and stayed for several more hours, so I felt good about that!  They also had some yummy food (gumbo, jambalaya and some other thing I didn't know the name of) and I had a little of each!  Saturday is typically my "cheat" day, although I should call it my "no points" day instead b/c that is more positive!  But, I didn't go crazy.  I didn't eat dinner until I got there so I didn't eat too much last night.

I got my tax refund on Friday and my dd and I had made a list of all the things we've been needing.  So, after opening day ceremonies, I took the girls shopping!  It was fun to go get stuff like new underwear (not that exciting, I know!) and new towels and sheets.  It was fun to get to shop like that!  I get to spend today washing everything!

Ok, off to get ready for church!  I will make a better effort to write daily - NO MATTER WHAT!  I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend!
