Today I did get to my final water aerobics class. Unfortunately, the teacher I've loved all summer wasn't there! The other teacher was there and her class is not as aggressive as the other one. I feel like I got a good arm workout, but that's not all I needed!
We also got to see the new movie, "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2." I'm a fan because I saw the first movie and have read 3 of the 4 books. It was cute. Then I had to pick up a few things from the store and run home. Tonight we had a welcome back happy hour for work. It was good to meet some new people and see the old ones too. It was a fajita bar and was very yummy! I only had a diet coke to drink and I even stayed away from the cookies for desert! After I got home, I had a little cup of WW ice cream (3 points). So, all in all, my eating was pretty good today! I don't know how well it will be tomorrow as we are going to Adventure Island and then I am meeting with my new team in the afternoon. We're all supposed to bring some kind of snack. Maybe I'll buy a veggie tray to share and then at least I'll have one good option!
And finally, tomorrow is my dad's 60th birthday! I just can't believe it! He sure makes 60 seem not so old anymore! I know there area lots of people whose dad's don't live that long, so I am very thankful to have mine. He has been such a great savior to me since my divorce. He and my mom have really done wonders for my girls and me. I don't know where I'd be without him (or them, I should say). So even though he won't read this - THANKS DADDY AND HAPPY 60TH BIRTHDAY!
I only have 2 days left of my summer vacation So we are trying to make the best of this week. Yesterday, we tried to go to Adventure Island (a water park) but our plan was to go at about 3 pm until they closed (6 pm). Unfortunately at that time the black clouds were hovering, so we decided not to go. We had some other things to do in the morning and my oldest DD had an ortho appointment, so we couldn't go until later anyway. So, we didn't get to go.
But, today, we went early to Busch Gardens! We got there about 9:15 and stayed until about 3:30! It wasn't as good as the last time we went, because this time there were more people. But, lines were not too long and we got to ride lots of rides! Well, the kids did anyway! I got my share of walking in and pushing a stroller up a big hill a few times is a good workout! I also did better with the eating. For lunch, I shared a turkey wrap with my little one and that came with fries (the down part). But, the last time we went to BG, I bought her a kids meal and she didn't even touch it! So I figured we could share and she did much better. And I had water all day today. I had a couple of sips of DD's soda, but otherwise it was water! The treat I had before we left was a frozen lemonade - but it was more like a slushee.
Tomorrow is my last day I can do water aerobics, so that is the plan there. I also will be taking my girls to a movie and then in the evening, we have a happy hour and welcome back with my fellow teachers from school.
Thursday we are going to try Adventure Island again and then Friday - back to school! I'm excited but also VERY sad. I always look forward to school with mixed emotions. I LOVE the summer and getting to spend time with my girls doing fun stuff. We are going to try to go to the beach on Saturday, too. I look forward to getting back on a regular eating schedule too. But, I think my lunch time is going to be at about 10:30!! That is WAY too early! I'll be starving by 2! I guess I'll have to pack some snacks for the afternoons!
That's what's going on in my life right now. You'll forgive me if I'm not posting a lot due to the busy schedule! But I hope you are all doing well!
My plans were messed up by rain! UGH! I went to the Y for the water aerobics and it started raining right when I got there! The instructor does a class inside on rainy days, so I decided to stay for that. (Both of my girls spent the night with their dad last night, so I was free to do that). It was HARD! Apparently, 60 year old ladies are better at doing leg lifts than me! But, I tried and did my best. I hope it doesn't rain on the last 3 days I have to do this! I only have this Wednesday and next Monday and Wednesday! But, at least I got a work out in!
Now I'm off to get a massage. Both girls don't spend the night together very often, so I have to do those things that I can't do with them here - aka the massage! So, I have to run, but thought I'd let you know how the day was so far! (the eating and water thing has gone pretty well too!) Have a great Monday!
My calves are STILL SORE from water aerobics on Friday! I walked with my girls last night while they rode their bikes. I would have gone on my bike too, but the tires were flat and I didn't want to take the time to pump them up b/c we had something we wanted to watch at 8, so we had a limited time to go. (I know that's a LAME excuse, but we only had a small amount of time!) But, after walking, my calves did feel better. But this morning, they were hurting again! UGH! It hurts to walk! But, anyway, I'll be back at water aerobics again in the morning to hopefully work out the soreness!
I was pretty good yesterday in my eating and exercising. But, we went to lunch with some friends after church today and I'm thinking that should be my ONLY meal of the day! I'm too embarrassed to even say what I ate! But, I figure that if I DO eat light the rest of the day and drink lots of water I should be ok. I remember that at WW they always said, if you slip up, make sure you get back on track with your NEXT MEAL - not the next day!
So, apparently I did work hard at water aerobics yesterday because my calves are KILLING me today! I mean, it hurts to walk! But, despite that, I took my girls to a different YMCA that is a bit further away today. They have a little water park there. One side of the pool area has 5 or 6 rows where you can swim laps ( I didn't since I had the girls) and 3 big slides for kids 5 and up. My 12 year old also had to take a swim test to use the slides. (That involved 30 seconds of treading water and then swimming one lap without touching the bottom - easily done for her.) The other side of the pool area was for the little kids. There were 2 little slides and lots of water spraying and you could aim it at people or big buckets that would fill up and dump on you if you stood under it. My little one doesn't really like getting her face wet, but I walked up the steps with her to help her shoot water and dump water on her sister and she loved it! By the end of the time we were there, she had even gone down BOTH of the little slides and was loving them! It was so much fun! And, since we are members of the Y (even though it is a different branch) it didn't cost us anything! It was a fun, cheap day!
We only have 2 weeks left before I go back to school (the kids have 3 weeks). My oldest DD and I have decided we need to pack as much in those 2 weeks as possible! So, I'll try to keep you posted on our activities.
My oldest DD has started to gain some weight. She doesn't have the best eating habits as she is a SUPER PICKY eater! So, I think she's started noticing because I make SURE not to point that out (I know how that can affect someone!). But, SHE has decided she wished we had a treadmill. Well, we do not have any room for that, but I told her we could go use them at the Y and then we could walk together! I'm excited that she wants to work out and maybe it will motivate ME! When school starts, she and her friend like to ride their bikes, so that will be some daily exercise for her, so that should help too. Plus, she plays soccer in the fall and will stay active with sports, so it's not that I'm TOO worried. But, I DON"T want her to follow in my poor footsteps.
Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend - we'll be relaxing!
Water aerobics did that to me today! My legs are sore already! But, I knew it was a good workout since it was hurting to much during it! I just kept telling myself - I can do it, I can do it! And, seriously, when you are in the water, when you get hot, you just go under! I LOVE that class!
We got a new washer and dryer and I am so excited! We got the front loading ones and I am currently the first to get to do a load! It's so easy! So, I plan on doing a bunch of laundry today - you know, washing all the things that have been waiting for a wash!
I'm off to get a haircut and to fix my highlights. I got highlights last month and it was too much light color for me. So, hopefully, she can fix it up today and make it closer to my dark color!
I finished my ESOL class! That was the online class I was taking and it's not officially due until Friday! I am usually the world's worst procrastinator and I did have to do one session a day for the past few days, BUT - I am done early! I am so happy and relieved! It feels so good to have it done and do know I did a good job. It's not for a grade, only inservice points. I have done one a year for the past 4 summers and I have one left and then I can put it on my certificate and be done with it ALL!
On a sour note, it rained this morning, so I couldn't go to water aerobics! I only have a few left to go to before I have to go back to school, so that was annoying! But, instead, I took the girls to the free movie at the mall (yes, our mall has free kids movies on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week in the summer). We saw Evan Almighty and of course it was cute. The catch with the free movies is that they are previously run movies. There is always a G movie and a PG one. Luckily, my 4 year old is good with either one. Afterwards, we walked around the mall looking for new school clothes, but didn't find any! I found a top for myself, but that was it!
This evening, we had church and while my little one was in class, I went to get a much needed pedicure! It was awesome and my feet look so much better! After her class was done (mine is done until September) we had to wait to pick up my older daughter until 9 (it was only 7:30). We went to Target and found some uniform shirts for the girls - yes they both have to wear uniforms to public school. We also got the soundtrack to Mamma Mia. LOVE IT! If you like Abba - YOU SHOULD SEE THIS MOVIE AND YOU WILL LOVE IT! The soundtrack is great too!
So, there was our day. We had fajitas also at dinner. We were running late, so there wasn't much cheese left, so i had very little cheese or sour cream, so I'm sure they weren't too bad! (We ate dinner at church). So, in all, I had a pretty good day!
Today is called Movie Monday because I went to 2 movies today! First, I went to water aerobics. I LOVE that class! I will do all I need to do to arrange my schedule to make sure I make it to that class on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for the next few weeks until I go back to school. I have to go back on Friday, August 8 and it's pre-planning days until the next Friday. So I'll miss the class on the 8th and on. I also have a training to go to on July 31 and Aug 1 which means I'll miss another one! I don't want to miss ANY others! It really kicks my butt!
After the class this morning, my 12 year old and I went to see The Dark Knight. It was GREAT! I don't always like movies that have some violence, but this one wasn't too bad and I really wanted to see Heath Ledger's last movie. Then, I went tonight with my mom, sister, and daughter to see Mamma Mia! We had planned on going tonight and then thought we wouldn't be able to, so that's why we went to the movie this morning. Then it worked out for us to go tonight too, so that's why we had 2 movies. I am a HUGE Abba fan, so I loved the movie tonight too! I was singing through the whole thing and it was a cute story too.
On the eating front, I had popcorn at the first movie, but not the second (I'd had my fill on that for the day). We went out to dinner to Chili's and I had a turkey sandwich (1/2 of one) and a cup of soup. My daughter's meal came with corn on the cob and she doesn't like it, so i had that in place of my fries. I felt like I didn't do TOO bad! I could do much better and hope to tomorrow. We only have one place to go tomorrow and so all my meals will be eaten at home! That always helps!
Hope you all are doing well!! Keep up the great work!
It was another morning of water aerobics. I love this class! It really hurts while we're doing it! I could feel the flab moving! I knew the pain was all for a good reason!
We came home and had a nice lunch and now it's rest time. Again, I'm procrastinating on working on my online class. But I'll be working on it as soon as this is done.
My weight stayed the same today and that's because I haven't been watching my food intake lately! I've been exercising and drinking water, but not watching the food. If only I could do them ALL! Imagine the results...
Since the last time I wrote, my daughter's All star softball team is done. They played on Tuesday night and then it rained with thunder and lightning, so they postponed the rest of the game until Wednesday at 10 am. I'm glad I'm off this summer, so it wasn't a problem for me to get her there. Anyway, they were down 3-1 and they came back and tied it up and then were ahead and the final score was 7-6, but not in favor of our team! Now this was good and bad. We were sad not to get to move on to the next level because 2 other teams from our home field have moved on to regionals. Also, the team from our field last year won the state tournament! But, my daughter kind of got ripped off with this tournament. The coaches put her in for ONLY 2 innings per game (there are usually 6) and she had a minimum of times at bat. I was FURIOUS about this! She did not start any game and they did not play her in her usual position of 3rd base except for once. She played right field and left field. Now, I believe this is due to the fact that we missed a lot of practice. They had a heavy practice schedule for 2 weeks. The first week we were on vacation and the second week we only made it to one practice (due to 2 days of rain and one day there were some circumstances beyond our control). I understood if she had to sit out some, but she is a really great player - and I'm not trying to sound conceited, but she earned her way onto that team and then they didn't really ever give her a chance. The 3 coaches daughters did not sit out AT ALL. So tell me how that's fair?!
Ok, so the reason behind this story is to tell you how busy we've been. We had games Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and all about 30 -40 minutes away! So, we aren't too upset that that's all over. Today, we finally got to do something else! I took the girls to Busch Gardens and we met up with one of my friends and my daughter's former teacher! We had a great time! We got there at 9:30 and all the way until about noon there were NO LINES! It was awesome! AND, it was a beautiful overcast day. It got pretty humid, but the sun was hiding and that made it better! After lunch though, people started coming and then after awhile it started lightly raining. The thunder and lightning followed and so then they started closing the rides. We ended up leaving around 3, but we still had a great time! There was tons of walking and let me tell you that pushing a stroller up a hill is a good work out! For lunch, I chose a ham and turkey sandwich that ended up being huge - so I shared it with my little one! I also had a side salad, some potato salad (also shared with my little one) and some pudding (again shared). I didn't think that was too bad. We also had a LONG walk back to the car, so I felt like we had a lot of exercise.
After dinner, we went for a short walk. My 4 year old got a new bike for her birthday, so she rode while my mom and I walked. After awhile, my 12 year old and 4 year old were so far ahead we couldn't see them! But my older daughter made the good choice for them to turn around to come back towards us! It was a fun one.
I'm off to water aerobics in the morning and then a nice relaxing day! Hope you all are doing well!!
