Well, the birthday celebrations are over. I went to dinner with 2 of my best friends last night and had a yummy greek dinner. I was pretty good though because I had grilled chicken with veggies! But after, we went to a place called Choxotica - a chocolate place! I had a couple of tastes of different kinds of chocolate and then we got chocolate drinks! Mine mint chocolate with milk on ice and it was SO GOOD!
Today, I finally went to the YMCA with my 12 year old! She's been wanting to go to learn how to use the treadmill. We walked on the treadmill for 20 minutes, then did the eliptical for 10 minutes, then the bikes for 10 minutes. We were both REALLY sweating at the end! We are trying to figure out a schedule on how to get there more often, but today was a great start!
Tomorrow it's back to work, but hopefully the A/C is finally fixed! I'm hoping to walk into a nice cold classroom tomorrow! Keep you fingers crossed for me! Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a great week!
Today is the 7th anniversary of my 29th birthday! (36 for those of you not quick on the math). I've been suffering at school with no air conditioning. Well, I think they have fixed it. We'll put it to the test on Monday!
My team bought me an ice cream cake that was very yummy! We went to dinner with my parents, sister and her family. Then we came home to have more ice cream cake! I feel overstuffed. I know, I know, I shouldn't have had it all, but I figured since it's my birthday, I was ok. One of my students gave me some truffles and since they aren't my faves, I gave them to my sister to take home with her.
I've just been thinking lately that my current weight is more this year than last year on my birthday and I need to make some serious changes. Over the summer I've kind of slacked off, so I need to get back into the routine of things including eating and exercising! I know I keep saying these things, but my birthday is always a time for reflection for me.
I'll continue to keep you posted on the good and the bad! I hope everyone enjoys the weekend - I sure will!
Tropical Storm Fay hit the southwest coast of FL and we haven't even had any rain! The Tampa bay area, for those of you who don't know is on the west coast of FL, but about halfway up. So, basically, we got a day off and it seems like it was for no reason!! Actually, they use some of the schools for shelters, and that's the main reason. We are doing well and I plan on using the day to clean!
Today was the first day of school with the kids. Tomorrow we have off due to a Tropical Storm/Hurricane on the way! I had to suffer through no A/C all day, but the kids were real troopers and are great! I'm happy to have a day off!
I brought my lunch and ate healthy. I drank TONS of water since I was sweating so much, so I'm back on track there.
Keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we battle through the storm!
This will be short since I have to go to church. I haven't been on track lately in the food and exercise areas. There has been no weight loss and my birthday is coming up. I know I weigh more this year than I did last. So, with that being said, today is a perfect day to restart. School starts for me tomorrow and that will help me get back on track with the eating portion. Plus, since my classroom is upstairs, there's some extra exercise in there! I'm going to make some goals later today and then I'll post them.
It has been one LONG and crazy week! For those of you who aren't teachers, it is called - PRE-PLANNING. But it was full of meetings and meet the teacher night and bowling! We finished today with bowling. They close the school and make everyone leave and go bowling! Now, I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, I'd rather keep working and finish what still needs to be done. On the other hand, it's nice to have a time when you HAVE to leave and just go home. They also are not opening the school this weekend (they did last weekend), so that's it! I brought home a few things to organize and I have some work to do on the computer, but that's it. HOPEFULLY, we are going to try to go to the beach tomorrow and then the girls will go spend the night with their dad. I should have some time to work then.
Ok, I'm off to Kids Night at the Movies at Church! As my schedule lightens, I should be able to be here more often!! HOpe you all are doing well!!
Back to Thursday. We had an awesome day! I took the girls to Adventure Island which is our local water park. We had such fun and we all stayed together. Usually, my oldest DD would prefer to bring a friend and go off on their own, but she stayed with us and we had a blast! My little dd is getting more and more brave. She went down a couple of the kiddy water slides on her own! (She was wearing a life jacket - of course!) And those slides did not end in a pool. She went down a couple of other slides with me and we just had a blast! We bought a waterproof disposable camera and capture the whole day. Now I just need to get those pictures developed!
We only had a limited amount of time to spend there as I needed to meet with my team from school in the afternoon. I got there just after 3 and we had a fun time getting to know the new people on our team. When I went home, my parents got home shortly after and it was my dad's 60th bday! The whole family was there (my sis and her family). We did presents, ordered dinner, and had cake. All in all, it was a very fun day! I was very pleased as that was the final day of summer for us - school started for teachers on Friday
So, Friday, we all got up early. My little one went to the after school/summer program at my school and they went on a field trip, so she was excited to see friends and to get to do something fun! My older dd came with me and hung out in my room while I had to attend a meeting. After lunch, she helped me set up the room and start to unpack. I know she was bored, but she was very helpful. There is still a TON to do and the school will be open this weekend, so I may go up either today or tomorrow. We have a meet the teacher thing on Thursday afternoon, so the room needs to be organized by then. We have 2 days of meetings all day, so really only have Wed. and Thurs. to finish up.
I was all set to take the girls to the beach today, but then I woke up to overcast skies and a 70% chance of rain! I opted not to go, but was very sad!
We truly did have an awesome summer. We got to do all we wanted to do and more. And, since we live in Florida, we can still go to the beach on the weekends for another month or so. There is no such season as Fall here. We have Summer, late summer, Winter (which might be like fall to most of you), early summer and Summer again! Oh, and then throw in Hurricane season (which is from June until November). That's the exciting weather in FL.
My weight through it all has not gone in the direction I want it to, but getting back to work should help. I found out that I don't have the earliest lunch, but instead the LAST one! Of the whole school!!! YUCK! We eat at 12:40 - 1:10! Luckily, we have specials earlier (around 11) so I can have a snack then. I will totally have to readjust for that!
Hope you all are doing well. Enjoy those last few days of the lazy, crazy, beautiful summer!
Today I did get to my final water aerobics class. Unfortunately, the teacher I've loved all summer wasn't there! The other teacher was there and her class is not as aggressive as the other one. I feel like I got a good arm workout, but that's not all I needed!
We also got to see the new movie, "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2." I'm a fan because I saw the first movie and have read 3 of the 4 books. It was cute. Then I had to pick up a few things from the store and run home. Tonight we had a welcome back happy hour for work. It was good to meet some new people and see the old ones too. It was a fajita bar and was very yummy! I only had a diet coke to drink and I even stayed away from the cookies for desert! After I got home, I had a little cup of WW ice cream (3 points). So, all in all, my eating was pretty good today! I don't know how well it will be tomorrow as we are going to Adventure Island and then I am meeting with my new team in the afternoon. We're all supposed to bring some kind of snack. Maybe I'll buy a veggie tray to share and then at least I'll have one good option!
And finally, tomorrow is my dad's 60th birthday! I just can't believe it! He sure makes 60 seem not so old anymore! I know there area lots of people whose dad's don't live that long, so I am very thankful to have mine. He has been such a great savior to me since my divorce. He and my mom have really done wonders for my girls and me. I don't know where I'd be without him (or them, I should say). So even though he won't read this - THANKS DADDY AND HAPPY 60TH BIRTHDAY!
I only have 2 days left of my summer vacation So we are trying to make the best of this week. Yesterday, we tried to go to Adventure Island (a water park) but our plan was to go at about 3 pm until they closed (6 pm). Unfortunately at that time the black clouds were hovering, so we decided not to go. We had some other things to do in the morning and my oldest DD had an ortho appointment, so we couldn't go until later anyway. So, we didn't get to go.
But, today, we went early to Busch Gardens! We got there about 9:15 and stayed until about 3:30! It wasn't as good as the last time we went, because this time there were more people. But, lines were not too long and we got to ride lots of rides! Well, the kids did anyway! I got my share of walking in and pushing a stroller up a big hill a few times is a good workout! I also did better with the eating. For lunch, I shared a turkey wrap with my little one and that came with fries (the down part). But, the last time we went to BG, I bought her a kids meal and she didn't even touch it! So I figured we could share and she did much better. And I had water all day today. I had a couple of sips of DD's soda, but otherwise it was water! The treat I had before we left was a frozen lemonade - but it was more like a slushee.
Tomorrow is my last day I can do water aerobics, so that is the plan there. I also will be taking my girls to a movie and then in the evening, we have a happy hour and welcome back with my fellow teachers from school.
Thursday we are going to try Adventure Island again and then Friday - back to school! I'm excited but also VERY sad. I always look forward to school with mixed emotions. I LOVE the summer and getting to spend time with my girls doing fun stuff. We are going to try to go to the beach on Saturday, too. I look forward to getting back on a regular eating schedule too. But, I think my lunch time is going to be at about 10:30!! That is WAY too early! I'll be starving by 2! I guess I'll have to pack some snacks for the afternoons!
That's what's going on in my life right now. You'll forgive me if I'm not posting a lot due to the busy schedule! But I hope you are all doing well!
My plans were messed up by rain! UGH! I went to the Y for the water aerobics and it started raining right when I got there! The instructor does a class inside on rainy days, so I decided to stay for that. (Both of my girls spent the night with their dad last night, so I was free to do that). It was HARD! Apparently, 60 year old ladies are better at doing leg lifts than me! But, I tried and did my best. I hope it doesn't rain on the last 3 days I have to do this! I only have this Wednesday and next Monday and Wednesday! But, at least I got a work out in!
Now I'm off to get a massage. Both girls don't spend the night together very often, so I have to do those things that I can't do with them here - aka the massage! So, I have to run, but thought I'd let you know how the day was so far! (the eating and water thing has gone pretty well too!) Have a great Monday!
