The Pressure
First off "Hi" to those that remember me ...I didn't abandon you, life happened and for those that don't know me, just know that I've been on the weight loss roller-coaster several times before in the past.
What brought me here today you ask? In all honesty ...(sigh) I'm scared
. I went to my Dr. on Monday and my blood pressure was 160/110
. I wanted to cry on the spot...my pressure has never been that high. True I've been putting in way more hours than I should at work, and even though I workout..I still hit up every fast food chain in site.
She also did and EKG and ordered me to see the cardiologist (last time I went they did and ECHO and told me I was fine just lose weight) but I have another referral and she changed my BP meds. First off I was never diagnosis with having high blood pressure but was prescribed HCTZ to help remove the water weight I had since I experienced swelling in my legs. They worked well, and in my defense I ran out of those pills because I switched jobs which meant a change in insurance coverage.
Well she put me on Lisinopril which had me feeling HORRIBLE. I would be sluggish and tired all day, even started falling asleep 5+ hours the day, my skin would itch, and I experienced headaches. So after a 2nd trip to the Dr. I ended up with some new med that I really don't want to take (I'm thinking great more unwanted side effects). I also know that HP is deemed the silent killer because you can feel fine one day and be suffering from a heart attack the next day but I still don't want to take the medication due to the list of side effects. I don't know if I should express this to my Dr. again or just toughen up and take the pills.
Any one have any suggestions or has anyone out there taken Norvasc? (this is the new prescription). If so did you have side effects or can you tell me anything about this medication.
Thanks
