Before After

Fiasco

So, I walked about 2 miles last night with Julie. I really enjoyed it and hope we will be able to make it again tonight after Curves. I don't when I will have time to cook dinner but oh well. DH can fend for himself every once in awhile.

After I got back from walking, DH wanted to go to Wal-Mart to get IronMan and I have been wanting to get the SATC movie. We decided to take his car, a 1997 Nissan Altima, because it had 3/4 of a tank of gas and we barely drive it since we got my new car, an 08 Jeep Patriot (first car I have ever owned that it less than 10 years old). When he starts the car, it did some spitting and sputtering but my DH is like, "Oh, it is just a little junk in the gas tank. We'll buy some fuel cleaner at Wal-Mart." We go to Wal-Mart and do our shopping and the car ran pretty well on the way there. Then, on the way home, about 1 mile from our house, while we are going down the road, the car just shuts off. Everything goes black.Fortunately, my DH was able to steer the car off into a neighborhood. This was at 9:40pm. We had to call a towtruck. He came pretty quickly and we were back home by 11pm. When we (in the towtruck) pulled up in the driveway, there was oil all over the place where the car had been parked. Apparently, all that spitting and sputtering when DH started the car was oil going everywhere. My DH is pretty sure he may have destroyed the motor. He and a friend did an oil change on the car a couple weeks ago and it looks like they didn't screw something back on tight enough. Who knows? So now our second vehicle is out of commission. I don't know if it can be fixed or how much it will cost. It was a long night.

sorry to hear

Sorry to hear about your car

With Oil everywhere it very well couldof been the oil filter was not on tight enough, or they could have forgotten to put the oil plug back in.  Have the hubby check the oil filter and the plug, make sure oil filter is not wobbley.  Then tell him to do a compression test on the motor.  A compression test will let you know of a possible blow head gasket.  If all the valves across the board are in good numbers for the altima, tell him to throw some oil in the car and see what happens... Watch for leaks and so on.

Something like this happened to me.. but I thought I blew my head gasket because I was bellowing white smoke all over the highway.  When I actually went under the car, the oil and water hoses to the oil filter shredded apart... the oil filter was hanging off.  What endded up happening was my oil was running under the car.. hitting the hot exhaust pipe thus creating the big cloud of white smoke..

So reccommend a few things to him.. hehe He'll be like "whoa hunny how did you learn all that car stuff?"

((hugs))

Poor thing!

At least our walk was goood....

Bless your heart I know that car fiasco is frustrating.  Maybe it won't be as bad as you think.  I can pick you up for the walk if we are able to go.  I've got to mow the front lawn, and get a little laundry started. But the walking has energized me... I even rode the bike last night around the neighborhood... maybe I'll get back started in a weight loss mode.

Cars

Can't live with em' and can't live without them.  Sorry to hear about your vehicle, but I am so glad you were not by yourself and that the tow truck came pretty quick for you guys.  Glad you enjoyed your walk and happy that you are looking forward to the next.

Oh geez!

That sucks about the car.  Remember, eating will not fix the car.  Not that you were going to do that.  But I know that my first reaction is to binge.

Glad you had a great walk.  Good luck going again today!
