I was feeling pretty good because the scale was going down finally. But my weigh in day is on Monday so I didn't change anything on my graph. So I'm good all weekend and did my exercise. Sunday I had to really watch it because my husbands birthday is soon and my in laws wanted us to come to dinner at their house. So I had to watch it and there was ice cream cake involved but I did good and only had a few bites. I get up this morning for my "official" weigh in and it's up 3.5 pounds from Saturday!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I know this is some kind of freak thing like water weight or something because there is no way I ate enough calories on Sunday to gain 3.5 pounds but it was very disheartening. It seems to happen every week. I'll be going down during the week and then come Monday it's up!!!! So I have made the decision to change my weigh in day to Friday. Don't know if this will actually help anything or not but that's what I'm doing.
So any ideas about what it is my body is doing? Literally, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday the scale showed 240 then this morning it says 243.5!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's things like this that make me want to consider gastric surgury but I'm a wuss. Well, here's hoping your day has started off on a better note than mine did.

Could be lots of stuff
There's a ton of things that could be going on to show a gain even if you're doing well. Water weight could be one and muscle gain could be one. Have you been keeping track of your inches?? Cause sometimes you'll be up on the scale but down on the inches. Weight is a fickle fickle thing...on the road to your goal your weight will go up and down but in the long run you will get there. Everyone has gains for no particular reason. Try writing down what your eating. I never used to do it cause I really didn't like it but trust me it helps. Everything that goes into my mouth gets written down that way if there is a problem I can look at my notebook and figure out whats the problem. What kind of exercising are you doing?? If you aren't doing this at the moment...have you considered adding weight training into the routine...cause that can help a lot. keep at it and you'll get there!
It really helps to have someone understand. I have been writing down all my food for about 2 weeks now. I walk everyday, that is my basic exercise, I use my treadmill and go 2.25 miles in about 45 minutes at 3 mph. I have been doing the weight stuff from the Biggest Loser book. It isn't a lot of weight training but it is some. I'm just feeling very frustrated. I have not had health insurance for a while but I have a new job and the insurance will start in October. I decided to just keep on trying and when the insurance starts I will go speak to a doctor about it.
Thanks for your encouraging words they really do help.
Girl how well do I know what you are saying!!! For me I learned that after I run (on Wed., Fri., and Sun.) I will have a gain of at least 1 lb so I changed my weigh in day to Tuesday. Also I don't do ANY exercise on Monday since it is my official day of rest. :) I have found that Tuesday was the only day out of the week where I weighed the least.
I'm sorry you had such a crappy WI experience this week but I am really glad to see that you have changed your WI day.
Mine does the same thing. I'll be low pretty much 3 days before my weigh-in and thursday comes, and i'm higher than i had been for three days in a row. Go figure. It's probably water.
Measure yourself. Try on clothes. it's when your measurements change and your clothes are fitting better that really makes a difference. the number on the scale is just that, a number.
And look at the overall loss for a 4-week period of time. That's better to gauge how you're doing.
that has been my problem for the last couple of years, everytime i try a diet- jenny craig, nutrisystem... and excercise the scale yo-yo's. It's very discouraging, but don't give up--I'm new today and i'm hoping the encouragement from this site helps me when the weight just doesn't come off like it should!!
