Well, not so good. I gained I guess 4 pounds. My daughter graduated and is now home for the summer, I was thinking it would be easier but forgot all the goodies she likes to have on hand. Espically pizza every day for lunch, chips, etc.. She doesn't have to worry about losing weight, must be nice..lol And she is a vegetarian soooo guess it is back to counting calories for me. She is able to stop when she is full, not me. I guess I have to have the accountabitlity. I thought I could just cut back but noooo. On a postive note, we did wii fit together every single day and are having a blast. So I did get my yoga, strength training, aerobics, and balance in with it plus the treadmill and my steps. Now my steps right now are only averaging about 4500 but I will get back up there. Even though I gained weight my blood pressure has dropped and is doing fantastic thanks to the exercise!!!! This week I will be adding my Leslie tapes because I am starting her beach body challenge. I can't handle the full workouts right now but she says if you are a beginner just cut it in half so that is what I am going to do.. :-)
Goals for week!
Count calories 6 days per week - don't go over 2000
1 Free day.. :-)
Exercise 6 days per week - Leslie, treadmill, wii fit, steps
1 rest day.. :-)
I can do this!!!!! My daughter said she wants me to be around for aloooong time, me too.. :-) We can all do it! One day, one calorie, one step, one pound at a time!!
First I want to say I missed you all! What a crazy month but I made it and Brandy graduated.. :-) Next we will be doing college stuff but I get a break until the first week in July, then we will start more college stuff, beach vacation, etc.. So I will be enjoying and taking advantage of June.. :-) Starting June 1st I will be starting Leslie Sansone's Beach Body challenge. Plus I just started the Summer Long Distance Challenge on Road trip. WooHoo!!! I am pumped!!! Especially with my latest toy!!!!......
Nintendo Wii Fit, it is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My daughter and I spent hours on it last night. My hubby even liked it and he said before we got it he wouldn't do it..rofl Now it does have a weight limit of 330 so he needs to lose 10 pounds to really get to play and challenge us. It weighed me and my Mii got huge, my daughters stayed skinny since she is normal weight. She told me last night this is the first time she has ever wanted to excercise, I am so excited for all of us. Between my treadmill, Leslie tapes, pedometer and now Wii Fit I will be dropping weight!!! And be so much healthier... woohoo!!!! It even has jogging for the aerobics and I just did stepping in place for fast walking and it worked perfect so great for joggers and walkers!!!!! Can you tell I am excited!! I want to go use it now..lol I will but wanted to update you all and let you know I am back finally!
Goals for week:
Eat fish twice per week for my cholestrol
Workout 6 days using treadmill, pedometer and Wii ( I will add Leslie back June 1st when the challenge starts)
Good news I am down 1 pound!!! WooHoo! I have decided to just try for 1 pound per week and I will be able to get to the new towns that way just not as fast..lol But it works for me. Mostly because walking is my passion. I had been down the last few weeks, months, etc... ever since I got Plantar Fasciitis in my feet. It hurt so bad and I didn't want to stop walking but was also scared of doing more damage to my feet. And we don't want to lose our feet! Plus I have had super stress over non stop everything lately..lol We have had 3 birthdays this month. Tonight we will be going out to eat for hubby's birthday Tuesday. Then my daughter will be graduating Thursday night so we have to be at the high school 3 nights this week, kids and parents. And everyone dressing nice. I will be having several of my relatives coming in for it and one will be my mom and dad who got divorced when I was 12. This will be the first time they have been in the same room with each other since the divorce. So yes a crazy month! I am ready for it to slow down a little.
Good news! I did go to the foot doctor yesterday. They took x-rays. She said I had plantar fasciitis in both feet and a bone spur in one and heel fissures. She said all that was causing me great pain. I told her I was so embarrassed over my feet. Because of my weight, nosebleeds and rosacea it is so hard for me to reach them. She said no problem at all, she did it for me. She was so sweet, she gave me some prescription cream to use so it won't come back.. :-) Then she talke to me about PF, said for me to never go bare foot again, to wear my burkenstocks for all the time shoes, straight out of bed and do feet exercises and ice. Then she told me my New Balance shoes were great for exercise. I told her I was so scared to not be able to do my walking, she said no problem! She gave me a corisone shot in one heal and told me to not walk until Monday and then start out slow and build up and I will be back before you know it. She said treadmill, outdoor, stepping in place and Leslie tapes were fantastic for me. And that yes, losing weight would help alot. She said for every pound I lose I take 3 pounds off my feet.. :-) She said it is all about exercise and diet but don't go on a DIET. She told me to take it slow and make little changes and I will get there. She said I was slowly getting my life back after the bad nosebleeds. I came home smiling from ear to ear.. :-)
My goals for this next week:
calories 2000
sat free day
treadmill (4 days)
Leslie tapes (2 days)
steps (3000) (she wants me to increase my steps by 500 per week) (someday I will be back to my 15,000)
This was great help for me because I tend to be all or nothing, other words every time I am not doing well in the food dept I blow off my walking, bad, bad! My blood pressure starts going back up everytime I quit walking for a week or two, unreal!
The Couch Potato Factor
Even if you're perfectly trim, you're more likely to die early than a fat person who gets a lot more exercise. That's the conclusion of a landmark study published in 1999 by Dr. Steven Blair and colleagues at the Cooper Institute.*
Blair studied 25,000 middle-aged men and 8000 women for a decade. He monitored the subjects' fat content and BMI. He also gauged their degree of fitness, using standard treadmill tests. And he watched to see how well they survived.
Results: After ten years, twice as many normal-weight couch potatoes had died as those who were obese but fit. The risk of inactivity far outweighed that of obesity. In fact, among people with high blood pressure, low fitness elevated death risk more than smoking, high cholesterol, and obesity combined.
"I don't mean that exercise eliminates every health risk," Blair told a meeting of the Association for the Study of Obesity, "but you can stay overweight and obese if you are fit and be just as healthy, in terms of mortality risk, as a lean, fit person."
Blair himself is stocky and about 30 pounds overweight, but keeps in shape by jogging 45 minutes a day. He said most people could maintain fitness with 30 minutes of brisk walking per day. (More recently, government authorities have begun recommending 60 minutes a day.)
One recent afternoon, while sunning on the Maine coast, I overheard a lot of talk about diets. A girl on a neighboring blanket asked her boyfriend, "What's this whatchacallit 'beach' diet the Clintons are on?" Two women a little too old for their bikinis walked by, discussing the evils of white bread. A retiree with a potbelly as big as the nose of a B-17 told his Frisbee partner that he was thinking of "going on Atkins." A talk-radio caller waxed enthusiastic about the Blood Type diet.
After 30 years of covering science and health for newspapers, magazines, and websites, I'm a little tired of hearing this stuff. If you really want the best diet for yourself, you don't choose it on the basis of a tabloid headline, a TV commercial, or a guy with a microphone who says he's a doctor. You ask someone you can trust—someone who knows the difference between a fact and a claim, and who isn't trying to take your money.
We have a name for such people. They're called scientists. They make a profession of distinguishing what people believe from what is actually true. They aren't perfect, but you can trust them more than, say, Suzanne Somers or Richard Simmons.
A Law of Physics
One thing that scientists generally agree on is that the human body is a machine. For all of its wonderful complexity, it's still basically a device that extracts energy from fuel in order to do work. The work is moving, thinking, reading, yelling at the kids, refinancing your house, and such. And the fuel is, of course, food.
The energy in your food is measured in calories. Your body burns some of them to heat your muscles and organs to their preferred operating temperature. It uses others to power thousands of chemical and mechanical processes that help you play the piano and prune your azaleas.
If any calories are left over, your body stores them as fat. Everyone knows this, but not many people know exactly how much fat. It's one pound for each 3500 calories. In other words, if you eat 3500 calories more than your body needs, you'll gain a pound; and if you eat 3500 calories less than you need, you'll lose a pound.
Now here's what I came to tell you today: The 3500-calorie equation is always true, no matter what diet you're on. It doesn't matter whether you're eating protein or carbohydrates or grapefruit or lobster—the only way to lose a pound is to take in 3500 calories fewer than your body needs. This isn't someone's opinion—it's a law of physics. If it ever stops being true, you won't have a weight problem because the law of gravity won't be true, either. (Also, the Cubs will win the World Series.)
Well I didn't have a good week and I know we are not supposed to start over but I feel I really need to mentally for the last time. I have wanted and needed to lose weight for a very long time, I mean 150 pounds over your goal weight is not good. But I keep losing and gaining the same pounds and I finally read something that hit me. I was making my goals every week but not truly sticking to them. This time I am setting my goals for me and sticking to them no matter what. Sure if I am sick or have a day sometimes but you know what I mean, not worry about those days and when they happen let them go and get right back up the next day. I really believe I can do it this time. On sparkpeople I am on this group called villes, they are little towns that you move to as you lose weight. That has motivated me sooo much to get to the next town that I am really ready this time to kick off this weight loss and go traveling through all those towns.. :-) I know my life is still going to be stressful at times esp this month, but I can do this!!!! I really can!
My next week goals:
1800 cal
Sat free day
Burn 500 cal 6 days per week (treadmill, steps, and 2 Leslie tapes per week for toning/strength)
I hope everyone is having a nice weekend! :-) Thank you for being there for me, we can all do this!
WooHoo!!!! I am finally going the right direction again.. :-) I am down 1.5 pounds! Overall I did great this week! I stayed within in my calories, well OK I went over a little. My week was:
Sat and Sun Free Day
Mon - 2206 Cal Burned - 234
Tues - 2074 Cal Burned - 325
Wed - 2025 Cal Burned - 438
Thurs - 2110 Cal Burned - 424
Fri - 1910 Cal Burned - 255
Sooo this weeks goals are to not go over 2000 calories period, except on Sat and Sun. And to burn as close to 500 cal as I can this week.. :-) (treadmill, walking and steps)
My hubby is counting his calories now too and lost 8 pounds his first week. Men!!!! lol
My cat had her kittens and they are sooo cute! They live on our deck so I have been fighting off the TOM cats. We have a few but I am fighting off the strays.
My daughters prom was wonderful! She got her brand new Mustang and is in heaven! It is Black with black interior and a white stripe on the side. It is a 2005 model. The only bad thing it raised our ins $100. per month, ouch!
Well I almost didn't write in this blog today. But I have to at least stay honest with my self. I gained 3.5 pounds!!! Yes I am on TOM but the reason is I didn't count my calories at all this week and didn't walk at all. In fact my steps were not even 2000 steps some days.. :-( Part I didn't feel good from TOM but also selling puppies, my daughters prom stuff all week, and the worst me and hubby got into it. Anyway, it doesn't matter, the only person I hurt by not sticking to my program is me. I have got to get back to that healthy strong girl I used to be. I really need it right now more than ever. So no more excuses back to my program and I promise I will have a loss next Sat!!!
My goals for week:
2000 cal 6 days
Sat free day
30 minute treadmill 5 days
45 minute treadmill 1 day
7000 steps 7 days
And yes my calories may seem high to some but I am used to eating way over 3000 calories per day and I always lose when I cut it down to 2000. Also this is what Sparkpeople has me at also.. :-) My ultmate goal someday is 20,000 steps burning 1000 calories at least 5 days per week!
Well, let's do the good news first. My birthday last weekend was fantastic!!! I got to get a pair of New Balance shoes, and since I have PF a insole thingy and a pedometer watch. I was in heaven!!! Although I still love my omron the best so the watch is for special occassions..lol Then I about fell over, my hubby said as we were walking out of New Balance, would you like to go to the new plus size store and get some new clothes! I am thinking we just spent way to much money on me already but I am not saying no..lol So he took me and I felt like Pretty Woman when the women who ignored me before were bending over backwards to help me. I got 3 new tops, one I will be wearing to my daughters graduation, and then to Ross for a pair of pants to go with it. He said I could also get a $69 Kathy Van Zeeland purse but I said no that was enough money on me. So then we went to On the Border, yumm!!! And then to the grocery store and he had ordered me a Little Mermaid cake..lol It was cute! I love mermaids! So that was my heaven story!
Now to the bad part, I ended up getting down Monday. Migraines, week before period and small nosebleeds. Sooooo for the first time in a long time, I overate my calories all week and didn't walk. So yes, I had a 2 pound gain this Sat.. :-( That is OK, I am getting right back to it! Of course after my free day today..lol
Plans for week:
2000 calories per day
1 free day
9000 steps
6 days on treadmill (30-55 min)
1 rest day
My steps were horrible last week, only about 3000 per day, sad! I will do so much better this week, even during TOM.. :-) Sometimes my week before is worse than the week of.
