It's been 3 years since I posted on this site!
And in 3 years I have put on weight.
In fact, this is what I recently wrote about my battle over on my every day blog:
I feel like I'm falling apart this week!
And it's all down to my extreme weight!
And even now I can't seem to motivate myself to do anything about it!
First,
there's the sleep apnoea! That's a serious condition, that I may joke
about at times, but really, as I have said before, every day I wake up
with this condition is a good day purely because I have woken up!
Then
there's my lower back pain, worse when walking any particular distance,
or if sitting or standing in one position too long. OK, so this stems
from when I fractured my tail bone 4 years ago, but it is certainly
made worse by my weight.
My lack of energy, well, that is mainly
due to the sleep apnoea, but the weight is surely going to be an issue
in that too. I mean, if I was 2 stones (a stone is 14 pounds) lighter
than this and you made me carry round shopping bags weighing 2 stone,
I'd get tired very quickly.
My flat feet problems are almost
certainly caused by my extreme weight. Up until recently that had only
ever caused a problem in my right big toe, as the arch fell, the tendon
stretched and pulled the tendons in the toe, causing pain.
But the
last week has been painful every day, my left foot hurts in the heel,
or the left side of the foot, or the right side of the foot or on the
ball of the foot, or any combination of the 4. I start most mornings
with no pain or just light pain but as I go through my days, depending
on how much time I spend walking or just on my feet generally, it gets
worse.
Just standing to cook dinner some evenings has been a struggle.
I HAVE TO SORT THIS OUT
So why can i still not find the motivation to do so?
And really, beating myself up about it is not going to help, but I feel useless and tired and fed up!
The pool has been so busy lately that I am getting fed up of going. Each time I end up flitting from one lane to another as people pass me, and have ended up getting out after jsut 15 minutes or so. OK so 15 minutes is better than no minutes at all, but I don't know what to do.
I could try going to work first and doing my two hours there, then seeing if the pool is any quieter later I suppose?
Or i could try the gym insted, that is never too busy at that time of day. But my back has been hurting a little more than I would like, and probably the only thing I could do in the gym is the treadmill! But there again a 30 minute treadmill walk is better than nothing at all. Hmmmmmmm?
