Before After

C25K, Week 8, Day 2

It was another glorious day in the Burgh.  I thoroughly enjoyed my "run" in Oakmont.  Some day, I need to remember to take the camera so I can share pictures with you of the trail, the flowers, etc. so you can understand why I go all the way over there to run.  OK, for me, it's more like wogging however I get outside and actually exercise!  This week's run was 3 minutes longer than last week.

I never knew 3 minutes could last so long.  I was so happy to hear Robert say we only had a minute left that I almost shouted.  I understand what Nietzsche meant when he said, "What doesn't kill us makes us stronger."  He was right.  Although, after 28 minutes of wogging, I don't really think I wanted to be that strong!  LOL!

Breakfast - MOMO at Casey's after c25k - egg beater omelet with mushrooms and spinach, banana, iced tea

AM Snack - Cookies & Cream Anytime Bar

Lunch - MOMO at Casey's with DH - bowl wedding soup, 2 club crackers, steak salad (no fries), 2 JC balsamic vinaigrette dressing

PM Snack - banana (from breakfast)

Dinner - Rising Crust Pizza with mushrooms and onions, crushed red pepper

Late PM Snack - enjoying it now - 1 c skim milk (from breakfast), Chocolate Walnut Brownie, 1 Tbsp (heaping) Cool Whip free

Took all vitamins and drank 64 oz water.  Did a little shopping after lunch - Kinko's to get the Graphics book (Adobe Illustrator Classroom in a Book) spiral bound for ease of use, Target, and Michael's (charcoal pencils for drawing class).  Even hung out in the hammock for an hour finishing the last sleezy romance novel of the summer.  It wasn't even that sleezy.  Well, it probably isn't the last one either, just won't have time to read so many during the school months.

Hope you have a good Sunday.  Hope you enjoyed the Olympics.  They are finished just in time for football season.  Go Steelers!

Fun Day

OK, so I picked up the software for our Intro to Graphic Design yesterday.  DH installed it this afternoon and I started doing the turtorials.  Here's the result of the intro chapter.

It was fun!  Trust me, I did not draw the person - just imported that picture.  I also tried something on my own - a logo.  I've wanted a vmigirl logo for a long time.  It's not complete (the font isn't quite right) however it was fun, too.  I want to finalize a logo and get a hat made for the 5k run in September.

Breakfast - MOMO at Casey's - 2 poached eggs, dry english muffin, tea

Lunch - MOMO at Mediterranean Grill - small greek salad, gyro, about 1/4 order fries, mint tea

PM Snack - Jenny's Cheese Curls, 3 Diet Coke with Lime

Dinner - Chicken & Vegetable Potstickers

Late PM Snack - 1 c OJ (1/2 c from b-fast and 1/2 c from Late PM Snack) with Perrier

Took vitamins.  Hardly drank any water today.  After breakfast, DH and I went to Little's Shoes in Squirrel Hill.  Our "economic stimulus" check hit the bank yesterday, so needless to say, we had Connie (the salesgirl at the shoe store) help me spend it!  Oh my, that was fun.  DH was a little overwhelmed with the noise in the store (they were overrun with back to school shoppers, with kids in tow) so he stepped out for a coffee.  When he returned, Connie had just brought out 10 pairs to try on.  He sat down, and just shook his head.  I didn't buy that many, just checked out the options.  BTW, while Connie was in the back, I found a beautiful pair of Italian, butter-soft leather shoes TDF - glad I looked at the price before trying them on.  At $439, yes that's four hundred and thirty nine dollars, you know they would have fit perfectly.  Can you imagine paying that much for one pair of shoes?  Maybe when we hit the powerball, however, I doubt it.  I ordered three pairs of MBTs (including a pair of winter boots) and brought home two pair of dress shoes (navy and brown) for work.  That pretty much takes care of shoe shopping for the next year.

I have always loved shoes.  DH calls me Imelda for a reason (although I don't have as many pairs as in the past).  The dress shoes were needed because the navy and brown pairs I keep at work are now too wide for me.  Bummer!

Nothing else going on today except a few tubs of laundry.  Maybe watch a DVD tonight, however that's it.  Have a great Saturday!

Company Picnic

Yesterday was the PERFECT day for a company picnic.  I got there late (due to the reports I had to finish) however there was plenty of food, beer, and company.  It was a blue sky day, in the upper 70s, and just enough of a breeze to keep the bugs away.

When I drove up, I saw the new company president (from Chicago), playing basketball in leather shoes with some of the guys from the factory (the one in IL).  Too funny!  The great part - prez was beating the factory guys!  It was nice that he came into town for a few hours just to come to the picnic.  We all knew him in his former role - he helped out when we were acquired by the company that now owns us.  I know, the story is a little convoluted since I won't mention the company.

We had beer, wine, sodas, and water to drink.  The table was filled with barbequed items from Buffalo Blues (they've done our picnic for three or four years now).  There was chicken breast, salmon, ribs, baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw for the main course.  We had lots of chips with many different kinds of salsa (which is one of the products my company produces), 7 layer mexican dip, and cheesecake.  The only thing I didn't try was the coleslaw!!!

Breakfast - Sunshine Sandwich, 1 slice fat free cheese, 1/2 c OJ with Perrier, 1 c skim milk

AM Snack - Cookies & Cream Anytime Bar

Lunch - PICNIC - small chicken breast, 8 ribs, 2 svgs baked beans, 2 svgs potato salad, 1 Iron City light beer, 1 (healthy-sized) piece of cheesecake with strawberries

PM Snack, Dinner, and Late PM Snack were eaten at the lunch (didn't eat until 2:30 or 3).

Took all vitamins and only drank 36 oz water.  Didn't get to walk at lunch since I was working on reports.  Went to school to pick up software for the illustrator class so at least got in a little walking.  c25k, w8, d1 about 8:30 p.m.  Since I didn't get in enough steps during the run, I walked more on the treadmill after the run.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Annual Inspection

Today was the big day.  The car received it's annual (and it's first) inspection and emission check.  It passed with flying colors and it only cost $38 (the dealer where we bought the car offers lifetime inspections at no charge - that saved about $35-40).  They are very nice to me at that dealership, probably because it's right in our neighborhood.  I can drop the car off first thing in the morning, walk about a block to catch the bus into town, and get off the evening bus a block before the dealership.  Talk about convenient!  One more thing to mark as DONE on my honey-do list!

Breakfast - Silver Dollar Pancakes & Veggie Sausage, JC lite table syrup, 1/2 c OJ with Perrier, 1 c skim milk

1/2 Lunch - at 8:38 a.m. - salad with grilled chicken breast, 2 JC balsamic vinaigrette dressings.  I have NO idea (other than stress) why I was so hungry this morning.  I got to work at 6:30 to complete a report for the big board meeting today.  Around 8, I was starving so decided that I would get a salad since the veggies are pretty much FREE and the grilled chicken breast would probably fill me up because it's protein.  The plan worked (thank goodness because I really wanted a honey bun).

AM Snack - Cookies & Cream Anytime Bar

Lunch - Rotini with Meatballs, crushed red pepper, Diet Coke with Lime

PM Snack - medium, whole grapefruit, Sweet & Low

Dinner - MOMO at El Campesino - a kinder, gentler mexican dinner - chicken fajitas, refried beans, (only) 1 Coors Light draft, 3 flour tortillas, a little queso a little guacamole, chips and salsa - brought about 1/2 of the fajitas home for DH's lunch tomorrow

Late PM Snack - no way, not after the tortillas and chips

Took all vitamins and drank 64 oz water.  Walked to/from work.  Walked 45 min at lunch.  Curved out.  Was down 4.8 pounds, since last week, for Endurer's summer challenge - YES!  GO YELLOW CHICKS!  Steps at the time of this writing:  15857 (84 aerobic minutes; 6.5 miles)

Looking forward to tomorrow being Friday - company picnic in the afternoon (can only attend if I complete daily sales reports for a colleague who is taking a vacation day), c25k, w8, d1 (since I forgot to run yesterday), and the beginning of the weekend!  Woo hoo!

Have a great evening!

Back To School

DH and I just got home from our first art class.  We had fun!  There are 15 people, more guys than girls (which surprised me).  The teacher is very nice so far.  We watched two videos and had 2 in-class assignments, of which she kept one.  It was interesting looking at other people's work because several of them could draw very well.  She went over what we will study and there will be a self portrait and even nude modeling.

I'm sure when we get to the nude model assignment mine will look like a Picasso!  LOL

The other two classes (Intro to Digital Graphics - Adobe Illustrator and Taxes) don't start until after Labor Day.

Breakfast - Sunshine Sandwich, 1 slice fat free cheese, 1/2 c OJ with Perrier, 1 c skim milk

AM Snack - Cookies & Cream Anytime Bar

Lunch - Chicken Sandwich with lettuce, tomato, onion, and spicy brown mustard, large salad (DH made it for me yesterday), 2 JC balsamic vinaigrette dressings, Diet Coke with Lime

PM Snack - forgot to eat the grapefruit again

Dinner - Salisbury Steak with Champignons, Diet Coke

Late PM Snack - Chocolate Graham Cracker Twists

Took all vitamins and drank 64 oz water.  Had to drive today to make sure we made it to school on time.  Walked to/from PNC Park at lunch.  Steps at the time of this writing:  11349 (62 aerobic minutes; 4.69 miles)

DH and I are going to watch one episode of Peter Gunn, then I'm hitting the hay.  Looking forward to WI for Endurer's challenge tomorrow as well as looking forward to Curves.

Nite, nite!

Week 39 WI - Can You Say Loser?

Did you hear me yell at WI tonight?  Yes, girls, I'm finally making up for the poor showing the last few weeks.  I was down 6.2 pounds tonight.  That's what exercising and drinking water (maybe it was the beer?) will do.  Have to keep it up because I'm only 10.4 pounds away from my original goal at JC.

Tonight was also "date" night.

Since school starts tomorrow night, DH and I decided to go out to dinner and a movie, after WI.  Dinner was very slow, yet the food was good.  We only missed the previews of the movies (I'm totally anal about being seated before the previews start, however, I went with it tonight).  Saw The Mummy, Part 3.  Jet Li is a totally cutie, as usual!  The movie was fun.

Breakfast - Silver Dollar Pancakes & Veggie Sausage, JC lite table syrup, 1/2 c OJ with Perrier, 1 c skim milk

AM Snack - Cookies & Cream Anytime Bar

Lunch - Grilled Chicken & Andouille Sausage Gumbo, Diet Coke with Lime

PM Snack - forgot it (also realized that I forgot to eat my salad with lunch)

Dinner - MOMO at Bob Evans - Pecan Chicken Salad (dinner size), 2 JC balsamic vinaigrette dressing, 1 slice banana bread, 1 pat butter, iced tea

Late PM Snack - at the movies - 3/4 medium buttered popcorn (definitely not worth it, yet I ate it anyway - go figure!), 1 box Milk Duds (totally worth it)

Took all vitamins and drank 64 oz water.  Drove today to ensure arriving at the JC appointment on time.  Walked to/from PNC Park at lunch. Today was my REST day from exercise.  Steps at the time of this writing:  8533 (45 aerobic minutes; 3.5 miles)

Looking forward to school tomorrow (Drawing I class, in person) and c25k, w8, d1 after school.  Thanks for all of the skinny vibes!  I'll return the favor and send them back to you.

Have a great evening!

Oh, Salad Boy!

I received a nice surprise when I arrived home tonight.  DH had cut up all of the fresh salad goodies.  Trust me, I was dreading the thought of cutting everything up during the entire walk home from Curves.  What a sweetie!  I think I'll keep him.

Breakfast - Sunshine Sandwich, 1 slice fat free cheese, 1/2 c OJ with Perrier, 1 c skim milk

AM Snack - Cookies & Cream Anytime Bar, Diet Coke with Lime

Lunch - Beef Chow Mein, 1 c chicken rice soup from the cafe (definintely not on the JC plan, however it's one of their two best soups), Subway Veggie Delight salad, 2 JC balsamic vinaigrette dressings, Diet Coke with Lime

PM Snack - medium peach

Dinner - Penne Pasta, 1 c mushrooms, 1/4 c onion, crushed red pepper, bottle of Perrier

Late PM Snack - Chocolate Chip Bites

Took all vitamins and drank 85 oz water.  Walked to/from work.  Walked to/from downtown, to Subway, at lunch.  Curved out.  Walked home.  Steps at the time of this writing:  19273 (121 aerobic minutes; 7.9 miles)

Looking forward to WI tomorrow night as I think I've lost alot of what I gained last week.  Tomorrow is my REST day from exercise.  I have to drive so I can make the JC appointment after work.  Since DH has been whining about going to a movie, we're supposed to go see The Mummy tomorrow night.  So, I'll probably have some popcorn and Milk Duds at the theatre, but what the hey, it's AFTER WI.

One day and a wake up until school starts.  Have a nice evening and a great Tuesday!

C25K, W7, D3

Wouldn't it be nice if I was actually doing what's in the picture?  I'm pooped from a busy day.  Started off at 7:38 running day 3, week 7, of the c25k program.  The weather was good, so I drove to Oakmont and "ran" the workout on the Arboretum Trail.  One day, I'll remember to take the camera and take pictures so you can see why it's worth the trouble to drive over there to use the trail for 30-35 minutes.

Breakfast - MOMO at Casey's after c25k - egg beater omelet with spinach and mushrooms, banana, tea

AM Snack - Cookies & Cream Anytime Bar

Lunch - MOMO at Casey's with DH - bowl wedding soup, steak salad with 2 JC balsamic vinaigrette dressings, iced tea

PM Snack - medium peach (from Chambersburg - not as good as Fredricksburg peaches, however this is as close as we can get)

Dinner - Chicken Fajitas, extra chicken breast, 1/4 c salsa, 1 Tbsp fat free sour cream

Late PM Snack - Lemon Cake, 1 c skim milk (from breakfast)

Took all vitamins and drank 64 oz water, so far.  c25k as mentioned above.  Mowed 3/4 of the front yard (I ran out of gas, not the mower).  Laundry, laundry, more laundry!  Ready for a DVD and early to bed.  Steps at the time of this writing:  16876 (95 aerobic minutes; 6.92 miles)

Have a great Sunday evening!

9 Months on Jenny Craig

I totally forgot that yesterday was my 9 month anniversary on Jenny Craig.  WOW, where did the time go?  Even though my WI isn't until Tuesday evening, I think I'm back to 75 pounds gone.  Just had to take a summer picture with the black eyed susans in the yard.  DH says they've pushed his mint out of the picture, however he exaggerates.  You know how DH's can do that!

I'll be back later to report food and activity.  Have to go finish mowing the yard now.

Have a great Sunday!

Workout Weekend

It was another glorious weekend in the Burgh.  I don't know what we did to deserve such a nice summer (cool and rainy), however we need to do it again next year!  Today was no exception - beautiful, in the mid-70s, blue skies with white puffy clouds.

Breakfast - MOMO at Casey's - 2 poached eggs, dry english muffin, banana, iced tea

Lunch - MOMO at Casey's with DH - Steak salad (no fries), bowl wedding soup, 4 club crackers, 2 JC balsamic vinaigrette dressing, iced tea

PM Snack - Cookies & Cream Anytime Bar

Dinner - Chicken & Vegetable Potstickers, 1/2 c OJ (from afternoon snack)

Late PM Snack - haven't decided yet ,however it will be either Cookies & Cream Cheesecake or Popcorn (DH and I are watching a DVD tonight so I'm already leaning toward popcorn)

Took all vitamins and drank 90 oz water (I'm sure I'll get in another 1.5 glasses later).  Walked to/from Curves.  Curved out.  Mowed the entire side and back yard.  Have to do the DMZ and the front yard tomorrow.  Did a little shopping - Target twice - once this morning by myself (a nice, leisurely stroll throught Target) and once this afternoon with DH, after lunch.  I had to return something I bought this morning that didn't work out.

Gas is down as low as $3.689 today - WOW, haven't seen regular down that low for a while.  Steps at the time of this writing:  14121 (70 aerobic minutes; 5.79 miles)

Already looking forward to c25k, w7, d3 tomorrow, hopefully in Oakmont.  Nothing big planned for tomorrow - Casey's, laundry, mowing, reading, etc.

Hope you have a great rest of the weekend!
