I always heard that the night before a marathon, runners load up on pasta. Since I'm only running a 5k tomorrow, I loaded up on 'za and brews!
Check back tomorrow night for the post run report and pics from DH!

Nite, nite!

Well kids, tonight was the final training session before the IKEA-Montour Half Marathon & 5k Run on Saturday. I'm registered for the 5k run; maybe the half marathon next year - LOL! I am very excited that I completed the training, that I'm officially registered for the race, and there are only two days left until the run. When I registered for the run, back in May, September seemed so far away. When I first started the c25k running plan, I thought I was going to DIE!
For all of you who wrote about the c25k program, thank you for sharing your gain and your pain in the exercise department. Without you, I never would have heard of the program and never would have registered for an actual race. I love you guys!
I couldn't wait until the morning of the race to get the packet so I picked it up today at lunch. Here's the shirt and the number.

We also received a goodie bag with coupons and other race brochures. Totally cool. I'll get DH to take some before and after pictures on Saturday. He promised to go and be my cheering section. He's so cute! I did promise him coffee and breakfast afterward.
I was only down .2 pounds for Endurer's WI this morning. I blamed it on a late snack of sausage patty and two mini potato rolls that DH fixed when we got home from class last night (after I posted here). It was worth it! I haven't had sausage in months.
The meeting/presentation to the boss, his boss, and his boss went extremely well. They didn't like some of the data since it painted a bleak picture, however they appreciated the candor, the depth of the problem and the recommendations. The big boss liked it so much that my boss and I get to present the same info at the big sales meeting in Chicago next week. We have to tweak the presentation and get the big guy's blessing and then we're good to go.
Breakfast - Sunshine Sandwich, 1 slice fat free cheese, 1/2 c OJ with Perrier, 1 c skim milk
AM Snack - Cookies & Cream Anytime Bar
Lunch - Chicken Sandwich with spicy brown mustard, Southwest Salad (no meat) from Mickey Ds, Newman's Own Southwest dressing, Diet Coke with Lime
PM Snack - forgot to eat a banana
Dinner - Mesquite Chicken, big bottle of Perrier
Late PM Snack - Lemon Cake, 1 (heaping) Tbsp fat free Cool Whip
Took all vitamins and drank 88 oz water. Drove again today to make sure I could pick up the race packet. This was the first time that mapquest directions were completely, 100% accurate. c25k, w9, d3 on the treadmill. Steps at the time of this writing: 10436 (41 aerobic minutes; 4.28 miles)
I'm off to the shower and then bed. Thank goodness tomorrow is jeans day. I have tax class tomorrow night, the 5k run on Saturday, another tax class Saturday afternoon, and then NOTHING on Sunday, except breakfast at Casey's, studying, and packing for the sales meeting.
Have a FABULOUS weekend!
You can tell by the title of tonight's blog that it was Drawing class night. Drawing our hands, for the umpteenth time is getting boring. Trust me, my hand doesn't look any better than it did three weeks ago. Actually, one of the drawings looked TOO real because I drew an old-looking hand. We also did our first still life drawings as well as used media other than pencils (charcoal, conti crayon, magic marker, and twig/ink). The twig/ink hand looked like something straight out of Monster from the Black Lagoon! LOL!
Breakfast - French Toast, JC lite table syrup, 1/2 c OJ with Perrier, 1 c skim milk
AM Snack - Cookies & Cream Anytime Bar, Diet Coke with Lime
Lunch - Beef Chow Mein, Subway Veggie Delight salad, 2 JC balsamic vinaigrette dressings, Diet Coke with Lime
PM Snack - forgot to take a fruit
Dinner - Meatloaf with BBQ Sauce, Diet Coke with Lime, 3 aspirin
Late PM Snack - at school - Cinnamon Twists, 100 calorie pack of Ritz Snack mix
Took all vitamins however only drank 32 oz of water. Shouldn't have enjoyed the first Diet Coke so early however was very tired from the long weekend and needed the caffeine. Walked to/from Subway in downtown. Drove to make sure we got to school on time. Steps at the time of this writing: 12151 (54 aerobic minutes; 4.98 miles). I'm not doing Curves this week since the 5k run is on Saturday (and I don't want to hurt myself on anything where I would have to miss the run). Looking forward to the c25k, w9, d3 tomorrow.
Have a meeting with my boss, his boss, and his boss' boss tomorrow (that means Senior Manager, Senior Director, and Senior Vice President). I get to present the past, current, and desired state for a business process. Sounds exciting, huh? I hear you snoring! BTW, just found out about the meeting today so have to finish the presentation first thing in the morning and review with my boss so we can look like we know what we're talking about at the 1 p.m. meeting.
Please wish me luck on the meeting as well as losing a little for Endurer's challenge (WI is tomorrow). Hope you had a good Hump Day. The weekend is closer than it was this time yesterday!!
Tonight's WI was wonderful. I'm down 2 pounds, just as I expected. I didn't weigh myself before going; it just felt like I was down 2 pounds. Getting closer and closer to the original goal weight of 175 (which is the next mini-goal) and realizing that I need to increase the goal down to about 145 - 150. We'll see once the scale reads around 160. No sense in hurrying the final number now when I still have a ways to go.
Labor Day Challenge update:
New Year's Challenge: started this one yesterday - goal lose 20-25 pounds by New Year's Eve. Using the same standards for food, water, exercise, and comments as the Nifty 50s challenge and the Labor Day Challenge.
Enjoyed my last vacation day until Thanksgiving. Slept in a little, completed c25k, w9, d2 in Oakmont this morning. Enjoyed breakfast, at home with DH, who even made coffee (cafezinho for me). Went to the post office, the grocery store, the outlet mall, McDs for salads for our lunch (BTW, DH liked the southwest chicken salad), went to Sam's, went to WI. Did another drawing for class tomorrow night (a flower). Started working on the Graphics class - OMG, I think this is going to be a huge challenge for us, however it's too late to back out now!
Breakfast - Silver Dollar Pancakes & Veggie Sausage, JC lite table syrup, 1/2 c OJ with Perrier, 1 c skim milk
AM Snack - Cookies & Cream Anytime Bar
Lunch - Grilled Chicken and Andouille Sausage Gumbo, Southwest salad (no meat) from Mickey Ds, Newman's Own Southwest dressing
PM Snack - medium peach
Dinner - after WI - Chicken Fettuccini, Diet Coke with Lime
Late PM Snack - Lemon Cake, 1 (heaping) Tbsp fat free Cool Whip
Took all vitamins and drank 64 oz water. Only exercised during c25k and shopping, so far. Will probably play tennis and bowling (on the Wii) with DH later. May or may not get to the Wii Fit tonight (love the step). Talk more about the Wii tomorrow.
Have a lovely evening and a great Hump Day!
Hard to believe it's September already. Where did the summer go? It was a wonderful summer - cooler than usual, somewhat rainy, no school, and 2 mini-vacations with DH. Thoroughly enjoyed this Labor Day weekend (and it isn't over yet as I have one more vacation day). Didn't do anything out of the ordinary, just completed almost everything on my to-do list and spent some time with DH.
Breakfast - Sunshine Sandwich, 1 slice fat free cheese, 1/2 c OJ, 1 c skim milk
AM Snack - Cookies & Cream Anytime Bar
Lunch - Chicken Salad Kit, Diet Coke
PM Snack - Jenny's Cheese Curls
Dinner - MOMO cookout in the backyard - filet mignon, 1 ear of corn, 1 Tbsp butter, salt and pepper for corn, pepper and Jack Daniel's Spicy Original BBQ sauce for the steak
Late PM Snack - 100 cal pack Chips Ahoy cookies
Took all vitamins and drank 80 oz water. Got up, dressed, and went to tax class. Guess what? No tax class today even though I confirmed it with the corporate office. So, instead of being pissed off (OK, I was pissed off for a minute or two), I went to Michael's and picked up some supplies for our art project that is due on 9/17. That was a much more positive experience than grousing around being pissed off about the tax class. I know it sounds stupid - I was looking forward to tax class. I have to miss the first half of the first class on Saturday (due to the c25k run) so I was going to make it up today.
Mowed the yard for 3 hours to ensure I reached 10M steps. Looking forward to c25k, week 9, day 2 tomorrow. Looking forward to WI tomorrow night. I've prepared the food list for 2 weeks because next week, at the regular WI time, I'll be in Chicago at a sales meeting. So, I can imagine how high the bill will be tomorrow - glad I'm up to the 30% off level. Steps at the time of this writing: 13260 (58 aerobic minutes; 5.44 miles)
Have a great Tuesday!
I was taunted by grinnies (a.k.a. chipmunks to anyone not from the Burgh) this morning on my c25k, week 9, day 1 run on the Arboretum trail. I took the camera so you can see the trail. I walked about 3/4 of the trail taking pictures and not one grinny was seen. Didn't see the baby bunny either. So, I tucked the camera away in my fanny pack, completed the warm up walk and started the run. About 10 minutes into the run, grinnies darted in front of me, ran along beside me, and even stopped long enough for me to stop running, get out the camera and try to take their picture. You noticed the word - try? As soon as the camera was ready, the grinny took off. I put the camera away, out of frustration, so you'll just have to imagine grinnies on the run, scampering about and laughing at me!
Below, please find scenery from the Arboretum Trail, in Oakmont, from this morning.

The covered area is about the halfway point of the trail. The whole trail runs next to a seldom used train track. The other end of the trail is nice, just not as many flowering plants as the end in the pictures above. If you ever visit the Burgh, you have to go to Oakmont. It's a nice little community with houses from the late 1800s, nice shops, nice restaurants, and nice people.
Breakfast - MOMO at Casey's after c25k - egg beater omelet with spinach and mushrooms, 1 piece dry italian toast, 2 pkts Smucker's Orange marmalade, tea
Lunch - MOMO at Casey's with DH - steak salad (no fries), 2 JC balsamic vinaigrette dressing, tea
PM Snack - 2 kielbasa dogs with whole wheat buns (hey, it's Labor Day weekend, you've got have a little barbeque food)
Dinner - we're supposed to have filet mignon and corn however I'm full from the dogs so don't know if we'll have it or not
Late PM Snack - unknown at this time
Forgot vitamins and only drank 32 oz of water so far. c25k, w9, d1 (which was really supposed to be c25k, w8, d3 however I screwed up and deleted week 8 from my shuffle - D'OH). Those extra 2 minutes killed me!
Hope you have a fun and safe Labor Day!
pretty much the upshot of the neighborhood action meeting tonight. Boy, we're lucky as we've only had a few kids (not counting the neighbor's 37 year old son) trespassing and leaving trash. You should have heard some of the situations in the other part of the plan - verbal abuse, intimidation, throwing rocks, tearing up yards, totally blocking the street by making a human wall, kids laying in the street without getting up when the cars come down the road, vandalizing cars (the girl they caught doing this, at 12:30 a.m., was 12 and the only reason they caught her was because she got hurt and had to be taken to emergency). OMG, some of the things these 5-18 year olds (that is the age of five - it's not a typo) are doing are disgusting - I won't list them here! The chief seemed honest in his answers and suggestions about what can be done. However, the problem won't go away over night. He said it's a social issue. So, I really hope the neighborhood pulls together and works with the police to solve the problem together.
Breakfast - Silver Dollar Pancakes & Veggie Sausage, JC lite table syrup, 1/2 c OJ with Perrier, 1 c skim milk
AM Snack - Cookies & Cream Anytime Bar, Diet Coke with Lime
Lunch - Swedish Meatballs, Southwest Salad (no meat) from McDs, Newman's Own Southwest dressing, Diet Coke with Lime
PM Snack - 1/2 banana, 1/2 granny smith apple
Dinner - Mesquite Chicken
Late PM Snack - Jenny's Cheese Curls, 2 100-calorie packs of Chessmen cookies (obviously NOT on the JC plan)
Took all vitamins and drank 64 oz water. Walked to/from Mickey Ds at lunch. Curved out. Steps at the time of this writing: 9244 (30 aerobic minutes: 3.79 miles). I should make 10M steps tonight because I'm going to start my favorite task - laundry.
I'm off until Wednesday. Woo hoo! Several things planned for the weekend - breakfast with DH on Friday and Saturday. Manicure/pedicure on Friday afternoon. DH is taking me to happy hour on Friday night (can you say wings and beer?). c25k on Friday and Sunday. Haircut on Saturday. Tax class on Monday (to make up for missing the first half of class next Saturday due to the 5k run). Hope to get in a little fun shopping over the weekend. We rearranged the living room and I'd like to get an area rug to go under the coffee table so we don't mark up the wood floor. Also, have to get started on art class assignments - 10 drawings due by the mid term and a collage (for lack of a better word) due on 9/17. Graphics class starts Tuesday (it's an internet class).
Hope you have a safe and happy Labor Day!
Tonight's art class was fun. We learned about contour drawings and drawing from pictures that are upside down. I did a good thumb, when it was the example, on paper, of how to do contour drawing. I did a less than average hand when it was time to draw something real, in 3-D. Oh well, that's why they call it Drawing I. We've been assigned a homework that will show our goals, for ourselves, in 10 years. I'll bet you, a Diet Coke, that my goals will be different than DHs goals. LOL!
Breakfast - Sunshine Sandwich, 1 slice fat free cheese, 1/2 c OJ with Perrier, 1 c skim milk
AM Snack - Cookies & Cream Anytime Bar
Lunch - Southwest Style Chicken with Rice and Beans, Southwest Salad (no meat) from Mickey Ds, Newman's Own Southwest dressing (notice I didn't say lowfat - it had 6 g of fat and it was worth every gram - yummy), Diet Coke with Lime
PM Snack - banana
Dinner - Meatloaf with BBQ Sauce, Diet Coke with Lime
Late PM Snack - at school - S'Mores Bar
Took all vitamins and drank 64 oz. water. Since we had school tonight, this is my rest day. Walked to/from McDs at lunch. We received a little rain from the remnants of Fay however we could use some more. It's been 10-12 days since we've had rain. Steps at the time of this writing: 8158 (30 aerobic minutes; 3.34 miles)
Tomorrow is my last day of work until next Wednesday. I love holiday weekends - you add a day or two vacation to the holiday and it makes you feel like you get a week off. All kinds of fun things planned for the long weekend. Looking forward to WI for Endurer's challenge tomorrow and Curves tomorrow night. We're supposed to attend a "neighborhood action" meeting, with the police chief tomorrow night. There are more kids in the neighborhood this year and some of them have been doing some things in other sections of the plan - hanging out in the street, trespassing, vandalism, etc. We're going to see what the chief has to say just in case the activity moves to our part of the plan. I'm hoping it was a summer thing and now that school started, today, the problems will go away.
Have a great Thursday!
I stayed the same! Even though I thought I had lost a pound, I was exactly the same, at WI, tonight as I was last week. I did not wear the same clothes (even though I've been doing that the past month or so) so maybe I did weigh a little less tonight. I'm just thankful I didn't go up with the mexican food last Thursday night, the company picnic last Friday, and the extra chicken breast last night. I need to drink more water and pick up the pace a little on the c25k runs. Oh yes, and stop eating out so much - NOT!
Breakfast - Silver Dollar Pancakes & Vegiee Sausage, JC lite table syrup, 1/2 c OJ, 1 c skim milk
AM Snack - Cookies & Cream Anytime Bar, Diet Coke with Lime
Lunch - Grilled Chicken & Andouille Sausage Gumbo, Subway veggie delight salad (no meat), 2 JC balsamic vinaigrette dressing, Diet Coke with Lime
PM Snack - forgot to eat an apple
Dinner - after WI - Turkey with Gravy, Diet Coke with Lime
Late PM Snack - 2 packages of Cinnamon Twists (only supposed to eat one package as a snack, however, they are just TOO GOOD! Thankful I didn't eat the remaining 12 packages in the pantry!!)
Took all vitamins yet only drank 32 oz water. Bad girl! Walked to/from Subway at lunch. Had to drive to get to WI on time tonight. Completed c25k, week 8, day 2 after dinner - those 28 minutes are the longest in the history of the planet. Steps at the time of this writing: 14999 (88 aerobic minutes; 6.15 miles)
Had the pleasure of finding a package on the front porch tonight. I ordered several things from Travelsmith and didn't expect them until Friday or Saturday. What a treat - black dress (medium), print shirt (medium - have to leave it open for a while and wear a tank as it is too tight across the girls), casual 3-piece brown pants outfit (medium), red hip-length sweater (medium), and a pair of brown and red plaid pants (size 14 - no stretch). Woo hoo! The size 14 pants fit perfectly tonight (OK, the tummy is just a tad tight) however by the time it cools off enough to wear them, they may be too big so I'm toying with the idea of sending them back for a 12. I can't believe I'm actually considering returning them for a 12, especially after I thought the 14s would be too small when I placed the order. If you haven't heard of Travelsmith, you should check them out (www.travelsmith.com). I have tons of their stuff (you'll see some of their items in the photo gallery - the black and white dress, the blue pants suit with the print top, and the all black pants suit). Easy to wear, easy to care for, easy to take on trips, and the sizes are usually generous.
I'm looking forward to drawing class, with DH, tomorrow night. Should be interesting to see if everyone from last week shows up. Wonder what she'll have us draw tomorrow? Last week, it was pretty much squiggles and lines.
Have a great Tuesday evening!
I'm getting really excited for the 5k run that's coming up on September 6. I have the c25k running program and 9 other songs on my ipod shuffle. So, would you please help me build an upbeat playlist that makes me want to keep running? If you have a minute, please send me the names of your favorite 1-2 songs that you like to hear during your workout. I like almost every type of music, so the sky is the limit. I have a couple of high energy ones (La Bamba and Perfect Day) while the others can be used for warm up and cool down. Once I get your suggestions, I'll post the entire list.
Breakfast - Sunshine Sandwich, 1 slice fat free cheese, 1/2 c OJ with Perrier, 1 c skim milk
AM Snack - Cookies & Cream Anytime Bar
Lunch - Chicken Stuffed Sandwich, Subway veggie delight salad (no meat), 2 JC balsamic vinaigrette dressing, Diet Coke with Lime
PM Snack - medium peach
Dinner - Chicken Fajitas, extra chicken breast, 1/4 c salsa, 1 Tbsp fat free sour cream, 2 Diet Coke with Lime
Late PM Snack - Cookies & Cream Cheesecake
Took all vitamins and drank 64 oz water. Walked to/from work. Walked to/from downtown to go to Subway. Curved out. Walked home. Went to Sam's, with DH, after dinner since we didn't go yesterday. Actually, I went to pick up a prescription however the pharmacy was closed when we got there. Oh well, have to stop by tomorrow night after WI.
Speaking of WI, I go tomorrow night so please send skinny vibes this way. I think I've lost a pound since last week. Maybe not after enjoying an extra chicken breast tonight (it's precooked so it has lots of salt). It was worth it in any case.
Have a great evening!
