Summer is officially over! We had frost this morning. Not alot, however, just enough to know that the white stuff will be flying in the next 4-6 weeks. Whhhaaaahhhh! Our heater isn't working either. I'm disappointed; DH is angry. We bought the furnace last year and it worked perfectly. It also worked perfectly a few weeks ago when it came on one night. However, we had it serviced last Friday (yes, one week ago) and hadn't needed it until two nights ago. I woke up yesterday, freezing, and found that cold air was blowing out of the vents. DH did his husbandly duty yesterday, while I was at tax class, checking to make sure it had gas, electricity, etc. He told me he knew the tech shouldn't have messed with the "main" so DH is assuming it's the tech's fault. When I told him it could be the furnace, I got the look. You know the look girls - the one that says "yeah, right". We'll see what happens when they return my call tomorrow (I'm giving them until noon to return my call, then I'll call the owner).
Nothing going on today except laundry (time to do my wifely duty), finishing up a draft for the next graphics assignment, maybe a drawing or two.
Since this is a fitness and nutrition site, I guess something should be mentioned about both fitness and nutrition. I didn't work out as much this week (no Curves so far and not enough walking to/from work) AND I ate too many things that definitely are NOT on the JC plan. However, I'm still under 190 and still running, so things will work out.
Breakfast - MOMO at Casey's with DH - 2 poached eggs, dry english muffin, rasher of bacon, banana, Diet Coke with lemon (the tea was horrible today)
Late PM Snack - Lemon Cake, 1 c skim milk (from breakfast)
Took all vitamins and will make sure I drink at least 64 oz water. Ran yesterday (3.55 miles) so today is a rest day (Curves isn't open on Sundays). Did a little shopping at Target and Joann's with DH - we needed a few art supplies (picked up at French sketchbox easel too).
Hard to believe it's been 11 months since I restarted on the Jenny Craig plan. From a size 22/24 down to around a 14 and 1XL/2XL shirts down to a medium or a large, depending on the cut.
I'm very excited with my overall progress. I never would have imagined this is how I would look at this time last year. I still have a little ways to go, however I'm so much better off this year.
Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday! We're off to drawing class. I received an A for the midterm grade (DH received a B). His art is better than mine, however I think I just hit all of the required elements.
Not that I had the day off. However, the buses were not crowded (that's actually what made me remember it was a holiday today).
Breakfast - Silver Dollar Pancakes & Veggie Sausage, JC lite table syrup, 1/2 c OJ with Perrier, 1 c skim milk
AM Snack - Cookies & Cream Anytime Bar
Lunch - Chicken Stuffed Sandwich, 1 c chicken & rice soup (from the cafe at work), Subway Veggie Delight salad, 2 JC balsamic vinaigrette dressings, Diet Coke with Lime
PM Snack - may have OJ later
Dinner - Turkey with Gravy
Late PM Snack - Cookies & Cream Cheesecake
Took all vitamins and drank 64 oz water. Walked to/from bus stop (haven't done that for a long time). Walked to/from work. Walked to/from Subway in downtown. Curved out. Mowed the side yard (got too dark to do the back - maybe tomorrow or Wednesday). Steps at the time of this writing: 23220 (143 aerobic minutes; 9.52 miles)
WI is tomorrow night. I think I've either stayed the same or gone down slightly (too much eating out again - wings, fries, beer). We'll see. May go to the local Art Club meeting (DH went last month while I was in Chicago) just to see what it's like.
Since it was so nice today in the Burgh, I ran outside, at the high school track. I was not the only one enjoying the sunshine, the slight breeze, and the cloudless blue sky.
Today was the first day of the next level of training. I'm up to running for 60 minutes. The last 30 minutes about killed me. At the end, I probably could have walked past myself running, meaning I was running very, very slow! However, I kept running. It must get easier, right? Here's the plan - there are 7weeks until the Turkey Trot. I'm running 60 minutes for 2 weeks, 75 minutes for 2 weeks, and 90 minutes for the last 3 weeks. If I'm not dead from the last 3 weeks, I should be ready for 5 miles on Thanksgiving Day. DH advised that you (meaning me) should train harder than you perform. Bless his pointed little head. BTW, he hasn't run since college, back in the late 70s.
Breakfast - MOMO at Casey's - 2 poached eggs, dry english muffin, rasher of bacon, banana, iced tea
AM Snack - Cookies & Cream Anytime Bar
Lunch - MOMO from McDonald's - Southwest Chicken Salad, Newman's Own Southwest Dressing
PM Snack - Popcorn sprayed with butter-flavored Pam and sprinkled with Mrs. Dash, 3 100- calorie bags of Pecan Sandies
Dinner - Campbell's Tomato soup made with skim milk
Late PM Snack - chips, salsa, queso, 3 Diet Coke with Lime
Took all vitamins and drank 64 oz water. Did a little shopping at Target, Kohl's, and Giant Eagle. Picked up a men's golf wind/rain vest to use for outdoor running (the women's vests and jackets I looked at both yesterday and today didn't have pockets - what's up with that?) as well as two more sports bras (Lily of France sports bras keep the girls from move around while running), and a cheap pair of gloves (for outdoor running).
Didn't do ANY studying today, how wonderful. It was a nice long day!!! Had to do the laundry (the last load is in the dryer now). Finished one book and getting ready to start another. Have to hit the hay now because 4:30 comes awfully early tomorrow (much to do at work next week so have to at least attempt to get there early).
Enjoyed a little "retail therapy" at lunch today. We had a long lunch break from class so did a little shopping at JC Penney's. They had a doorbuster sale until 1 p.m. I picked up a cute workout outfit - pants, shirt, and matching jacket for $25 instead of the regular price of $106. WOW! I never would have even bought the jacket for regular price ($40) so really found a bargain. I'll have to check back there when I have: a) more time, and b) more money!
Got an 88 on the tax midterm - fabulous since I only studied for about 3 hours. Since mid terms are now officially over, I'm taking tonight and tomorrow off from studying. Nothing exciting planned - more yard work, breakfast with DH, trip to Squirrel Hill to pick up DHs shoes he ordered, maybe get in a quick trip to Barnes & Noble while we're in SH.
Breakfast - Sunshine Sandwich, 1 slice fat free cheese, 1/2 c OJ with Perrier, no milk - it tasted oobie
AM Snack - Cookies & Cream Anytime Bar
Lunch - MOMO at Subway - 6" chicken pizziola on italian herb & cheese, 1 bag regular chips, Diet Coke, Cinnamon & Sugar pretzel from Auntie Annie's, large diet Lemonade from Chik-Fil-A (you can tell I was at the mall, in the food court)
PM Snack - too full from lunch
Dinner - BBQ Chicken Pizza with mushrooms and onions, Subway Veggie Delight Salad, 2 JC balsamic vinaigrette dressings
Late PM Snack - JC Trail Mix, 2 Diet Cokes with Lime
Took all vitamins and drank 100 oz of water. Mowed the DMZ and the front yard after school (it was too lovely outside - mid 70s - not to get out and enjoy it). Steps at the time of this writing: 11053 (0 aerobic minutes; 4.53 miles). Doing laundry and will finish it tomorrow. I'm totally pooped so have to hit the sack (meaning I'll read a sleezy romance novel until I fall asleep).
Hope you have a great Sunday! Get some rest, you've had a tough week!
Aaahhh...comfortable. What a wonderful word! Whether it refers to clothes, sitting, walking, or thinking, be comfortable in your own skin. For me, physically, comfortable is being in smaller clothes, working out and walking without straining for a breath, running (even though I'm slow), and thinking for myself - I don't need to constantly be on a cell phone or tuned into an iPod; I can actually enjoy silence. What makes you comfortable?
Breakfast - Silver Dollar Pancakes & Veggie Sausage, 1 slice fat free cheese, ruby red grapefruit juice
AM Snack - Cookies & Cream Anytime Bar
Lunch - MOMO at PNC Pizza - 3 pieces pizza, salad with blue cheese dressing, Diet Pepsi, lots of great conversation with girlfriends
PM Snack - ruby red grapefruit juice
Dinner - MOMO at Carnivores - wings, Buster fries (a.k.a Jenny Craig fries - meaning french fries loaded with cheese, bacon, ranch dressing), 3 Miller Lite drafts (heavens, they got rid of Coors Light draft), fun conversation with DH
PM Snack - tall skinny latte at Smoke N Guns (a new cigar/gun/gourmet coffee shop in Oakmont)
Ran late this morning so forgot vitamins. Drank 32 oz water (unless I can count the beer, then it's 80 oz - LOL). Walked to/from PNC Park to meet the girls for lunch. Steps at the time of this writing: 8845 (45 aerobic minutes; 3.62 miles).
Have to study for the tax midterm a little tonight and tomorrow (early) morning because the test is tomorrow afternoon. Got a 100 on the graphics midterm last night - WOO HOO!
Nothing planned for Sunday except sleeping in (a little), going to Casey's for breakfast with DH and doing some yard work (hopefully the last mowing of the season). It's supposed to be in the 80s all weekend. Had the heater serviced today so we're ready for winter.
Hope you have a fabulous weekend! Eat smart, exercise, and have fun!
I'm off to get a haircut tonight. Unfortunately, I forgot to go last Thursday. I forget twice a year, it seems. Deb reminded me, when I called to reschedule, that I've used up my two misses, so no more! She's so nice and so sweet about me forgetting.
Breakfast - Sunshine Sandwich, 1 slice fat free cheese, ruby red grapefruit juice
AM Snack - Cookies & Cream Anytime Bar
Lunch - Chicken Sandwich with lettuce, onions, and spicy brown mustard, Subway Veggie Delight salad, 2 JC balsamic vinaigrette dressings, Diet Coke with Lime
PM Snack - ruby red grapefruit juice
Dinner - Penne Pasta
Late PM Snack - 1 c skim milk (from breakfast), JC Pumpkin Spice Cake (totally yummy - it's a temporary item)
Forgot vitamins today however drank 64 oz water. Woke up late, so I had to drive. Walked to/from Subway in downtown. Curved out. 5 mile training for 45 minutes when I return from the haircut. Steps at the time of this writing: 10401 (50 aerobic minutes; 4.26 miles).
Meeting three girlfriends for lunch tomorrow - that is always fun! Have a late meeting with the big boss tomorrow evening so may have DH meet me for happy hour in Oakmont. Haven't decided yet because I still need to study for my tax midterm on Saturday.
Speaking of midterms, I have to complete the graphics (on-line) midterm tonight after running.
Hope you have a fabulous Friday and a wonderful weekend!
Turned in all drawings and projects for the midterm tonight in drawing class. Woo hoo! We learned gesture drawing using toys and pictures of a swimsuit model (not the Sports Illustrated kind). We're supposed to have a nude model next week, so tonight was prep for that. Trust me, we're going to have 2-3 gigglers next week (yes, of course, they are guys - probably 19 or 20 years old). I'll let you know next week. The gesture drawing was fun - we did 20 drawings and got to choose one of the toy/bug ones to paint with watercolors. That was really fun - simply the fact that I didn't paint my clothes and didn't spill the water jar was fun for me. DH hated the whole night even though he had one or two really good gesture drawings.
Breakfast - Silver Dollar Pancakes & Veggie Sausage, JC lite table syrup, ruby red grapefruit juice
AM Snack - wasn't hungry so saved it for school
Lunch - 2 cups chicken and dumpling soup from the cafe at work, Southwest Chicken salad (sans meat) from Mickey Ds, Newman's Own Southwest dressing, 2 Diet Cokes with Lime
PM Snack - ruby red grapefruit juice
Dinner - Spaghetti with Meatballs (new item at JC - not as good as the Penne Pasta, however it was a change of pace), Diet Coke with Lime
Late PM Snack - Jenny's Cheese Curls, Cookies & Cream Anytime Bar, trail mix (DHs own concoction)
Took all vitamins and drank all water. The only exercise today was walking to the Strip, at lunch, to get a salad from McDs. Steps at the time of this writing: 9173 (31 aerobic minutes; 3.76 miles)
Looking forward to walking tomorrow as well as going to Curves and completing the next session of 5 mile training (yes, the torture continues).
Tonight was WI at JC. I'm down 7 pounds since last week. See what happens when you kind of get back on track and are no longer surfing the crimson wave? I'm only a few pounds away from getting back to my lowest WI. Hope to see that mark, or pass it, in the next few weeks. Then, the next goal is original goal of 175. Hard to believe it's only 12.6 pounds away. Hope to make it by my 1 year anniversary at JC on November 15.
Breakfast - Sunshine Sandwich, 1 slice fat free cheese, 1/2 c OJ with Perrier, 1 c skim milk
AM Snack - Cookies & Cream Anytime Bar
Lunch - Grilled Chicken and Andouille Sausage Gumbo, Veggie Delight Salad from Subway, 2 JC balsamic vinaigrette dressings, 2 Diet Cokes with Lime
PM Snack - forgot it
Dinner - MOMO at El Campesino - medium margarita (totally yummy), chicken fajitas with refried beans, 3 flour tortillas, guacamole, pico de gallo, lettuce, chips, and salsa
Late PM Snack - no way
Took all vitamins and drank 64 oz water. Walked to/from work. Walked to/from downtown to Subway at lunch. Walked home. 5 mile run training (45 min = 2.07 miles, hey it was after dinner and drinks). Steps at the time of this writing: 24598 (177 aerobic minutes; 10.09 miles).
Have to get a shower, then watch a Peter Gunn episode with DH before collapsing in a heap. Tomorrow is my "rest" day from exercise because I have to drive so we can make it to school tomorrow night, on time. It's mid-term in drawing class. I finished my last drawing on Sunday so I'm good to go (just have to remember to put all of my pieces in the car). DH still has to finish one drawing and add one object to his still life. He always procrastinates (and has since I met him in 1976).
Today was W&M day at Curves. I braved the scale and the tape measure. Good results considering how much food and alcohol I've ingested since my last WI (8/7/08). I'm only up 1/2 pound and that shows up in a 1/2 inch gain in my abdomen. No big deal as I'm certain I'll work it off by next month.
Since joining Curves, in September, 2006, I've lost 81.25 pounds and 52.5 inches. I was wearing a 22-24 when I joined Curves and now, mostly, I'm in a size 14 pants and a medium or large shirt (depending on how it's cut). If I can lose weight, workout, and even start running, anyone can do the same. Find a plan that works for you and go for it! The only thing you have to lose is extra weight!
Breakfast - Silver Dollar Pancakes & Veggie Syrup, JC lite table syrup, 1/2 c OJ with Perrier, 1 c skim milk
AM Snack - Cookies & Cream Anytime Bar
Lunch - Meatball Stuffed Sandwich (1st time - pretty good, however I still prefer the Chicken Stuffed Sandwich), Veggie Delight Salad from Subway, 2 JC Balsamic Vinaigrette dressings, Diet Coke with Lime
PM Snack - 1/2 c OJ
Dinner - Chicken Fettuccini with broccoli, mushrooms, and onions, 2 Diet Cokes with Lime
Late PM Snack - Honey Oat Bar, Diet Coke with Lime
Took all vitamins and drank 64 oz water (have to get back up to 100 oz a day). Walked to/from work. Walked to/from downtown to the Post Office. Curved out. Walked home. Steps at the time of this writing: 19501 (142 aerobic minutes; 8 miles).
Looking forward to WI at JC tomorrow. I think I've lost 3-4 pounds since last week. Hope so anyway.
