Positive thoughts needed :(
I just got a call; my mom is in the emergency room with a broken leg.
She works with horses and is normally on her feet 12-14 hours a day.
Please pray (or think positive thoughts, if that's your thing) for her speedy recovery!!

I'm FREE!

I would just like to announce to all you fine folks that I have
finally, officially, and (God willing) PERMANENTLY kicked my Mountain
Dew habit, as of yesterday.

I've been weaning myself down for a week now (allowing myself only one
a day and assisted with copious amounts of Advil at first) and
yesterday I was officially caffeine- (and Advil-) free!!
Bonus: I've traded being a Mt. Dew junkie for becoming an H2O junkie instead.

I'm a ways off from my personal favorite rule of thumb, half my body
weight (in oz), but I can down 2 liters a day without a second thought.

I Love Tuesdays
Tuesdays are great. Tuesdays are my usual day off from work, and I love having the house to myself all day! Sometimes I revel in being uber-lazy (some days just call for a cozy blanket, a good book and a cat on your lap), but mostly I try to use Tuesdays for catching up on all the stuff that gets ignored the rest of the week, like laundry! I just put my second load in the washer and folded the two baskets of clean (which said cat is no doubt sleeping on right now, since I refuse to settle on the couch where I belong
).
I also rode my horse this morning, and at 1:00 (yikes, 15 minutes!) I have to be at DD's school to volunteer in her classroom. After that, it's more laundry and tackling the mess in my office.
Oh, joy! I'm downsizing from a desk like this (which is currently buried two feet deep in STUFF, most of which I don't even know why I still have it) to one like this (which will remain CLOSED, and therefore all the stuff contained, 99% of the time. In theory).
Oops, better scoot - it's almost time for me to leave and I still have to find my shoes and dig out my good winter coat!

Decisions, Decisions
so many diets...so little time...
Last summer I lost ~40 pounds following Body For Life (BFL). (Actually, I'm going to be honest, I don't consider that a "real" loss because it was pretty much all postpartum weight. A good thing, yes, but I still had/have a long way to go to be at a healthy weight.) Anyway, in 12 weeks BFL got me back to my pre-pregnancy weight and a few more, which was awesome. But even more important than the weight loss were the health benefits I experienced. For the first time in I don't know how many years, I could climb a flight of stairs without getting out of breath. On our family vacation, I actually looked forward to the 1/2 mile walk along the lake from our condo to the "good" pool, instead of wishing I could think of an excuse to drive over. I discovered I LOVE strength training! When I look at all the positives, it seems natural that I should continue something that worked great for me before.
But...
There is a group of women on a message board that I frequent, who are all doing Michael Thurmond's 6 Week Body Makeover (6WBMO) and having results that are, quite frankly, astonishing. Literally mind blowing. Which means it's tempting, even though when I look at the restrictions the plan puts on your food choices (no dairy, wheat, oils, added sugar or salt, among other rules), I don't think this isn't a plan I could live with long term...or possibly even short term. OTOH, these gals say they don't feel the slightest bit deprived, and the plan offers the one thing I wish BFL offered - in-depth menu planning and meal structuring.
I'm definitely not going to pay full price ($130+shipping, ouch!!!
) for a program I'm not 100% sold on (after the LA Weight Loss fiasco - save that for another post - I wouldn't spend that kind of money on ANY plan, really), but if a steal of a deal comes up on ebay or craigslist, I might just snag a copy and see what useful ideas and recipes I can incorporate into my BFL lifestyle.

Wii!
(act like you've been here all along...act like you've been here all along...)

Guess what DH and I snagged on Tuesday? A Wii Fit!!!
I love this thing already - it actually makes exercising slightly like a game. Not that I don't enjoy a good sweatfest of the more traditional variety, but kicking DH's butt at the HulaHoop contest is just so much FUN!
I'm shooting for 30 minutes, 5 days a week in addition to my regular BFL-style HIIT and strength training workouts.
