In my fat burining zone yesterday. The gym is keeping me focused

Today i sthe 15th.  Yesterday at the gym was a cardio day.  Surprisingly it was another 7 miles. I have to figure out what I am lacking in vitamins or nutrients because my face looks so worn and haggard the last few days.  I hope it is not because of my emotional state right now.  I don't want to go from fat to ugly old.  I am still eager to stay on my diet and exercise program as it is a good distraction. I feel like all the life is out of me at this time.  I hope to come around to a better me.

It is Tuesday. yesterday added 7 miles. total 125

This morning I am tired.  I have been going to the gym each day  for a week.  Yesterday was cardio and I rode 7 miles.  In 30 minutes!  I did not think that was ever possible.  But I still see a very overweight person in my mirror.  I have to remember that it has only been a week.  I am so flabby.  I have really let myself go for the last 20 years.

I will get through this and I WILL  GET HEALTHY AND TRIM!!!!!

It is tough though when in the later stage of life, one has to  deal with other personal issues that can be very emotional.  VERY emotional.  I can get through this.    On a map, my mileage would have me at Cassadaga.  I am mapping out my mileage to Mexico and then to Macchu Pichu.  Just for kicks

I will be doing weights tonight at the gym.

Early Morning Ride adding on 11.8 miles

Today is March 10th on a Saturday.   This morning I was out the door at 7:15 and I got to the local gym to do cardio.  I went on the recumbent bike for 30 minutes which included a warm up.  I added 5 more minutes at the end for the cool down.  I have it figured by the trainer that I have to keep my heart rate at a certain level to make a difference in my work out and to benefit.  It sure is tough for starters  to keep that heartrate at a steady, required number.  In so doing, I am surprising myself with the number of miles travelled.  Today I went 6.8 miles.  WOW!!!!!  Two days ago I did 5 in half an hour.   Now I have to have breakfast so I will have some protein and my 1/4 c. walnuts for my essential fatty acid.  I will need the EFA as I will be feeling the workout in my joints and the EFA will keep my joints limber.

I made a goal to see how far in miles I would travel on the recumbent bike.  I gave myself a destination from my home in Rochester,NY to make it fun.  My destination is Machu Pichu.   It is just about 3,000 miles.  I have to see if at this point I am at Painted Post yest.  Time to start my day.

Feb 15 2012

Just got back on the horse here.  I have not been doing my morning bike because I have been staying up too late.  I will be going to bed at 10 tonight.  I have been eating this probiotic ice cream.  It is to help the bacteria balance in my intestines.  Well, no more.  I have gained 5 pounds back.  It is the ice cream plus not doing the morning routine.  So back on this horse once again to keep moving forward.

I keep forgetting to record my miles so last post it was 51 miles total on the bike since I started in January.  I just added the rest for a total of 107 miles total.  I can't believe I have gone that distance.

Just did my exercises this evening and I am finishing my meal of Nan bread with toppings of cheese, fresh tomatoes and fresh basil all drizzled with olive oil.  M M good.

I have had better days Feb, 2, 2012

I have been so tired in the morning.  I don't get up in time to do my bike workout.  This morning I did get my weight lifting in.  I am so tired in the morning because I have been staying up too late.  I am going to try to get to bed early tonight.

I will be getting on the bike as soon as I get home tonight and before dinner.  I am finding that I do much better on the bike before eating a meal.

So now I have 11 miles to make up for.  I did 4 miles last night so I will do 4 miles again tonight.  Oh, the agony!  I had celery, yogurt, granola bar and a few pistachio nuts for my lunch.  For breakfast I had  1 scrambled egg and a 1/4 cup of walnuts.

I learned that by eating protein in the morning, it helps in the elimination process.  The walnuts were a tip from the Dr. Oz show.  The walnuts are a good source of essential fatty acids that will help my joints and also my brain cells.

Tonight I will have a healthy taco salad using my homemade vegetarian chili.

I got on the scales this morning and I have lost another 2 pounds.

February 1, 2012 as of post, 51 miles

Yesterday I only rode 4 miles.  I feel a little guilty..  I still kept up with the eating right aspect.  This morning I rode 3 miles on bike.  I am planning on riding 4 more later today.  I have to make up for 8 miles.   I figure that if I am going to skip my miles, I need to make up for it and add them back in gradually over the next few days.  I find it is a good incentive to not skip any workout.

I hope to start working on workout videos.  I also want to add in more weight and toning.  I should look into a gym with a trainer.  I will hopefully post later.  I have to ride some more.

47 miles

It is morning and already I am in a positively good morning.  I decided that this morning I would just get a little extra sleep and forgo the bike and weights.  I will still do them when I get home.  Maybe I will do them at two separate times this afternoon to make it up.  It felt good to sleep in.  It caused me to run a little late as I had to brush off the car.  We must have gotten about 2 inches of snow overnight.  I had to walk fast through the school to get to my desk in the computer lab.  I was walking fast.  I could not believe that I was not out of breath and that my legs did not hurt.  How fantastic!
This gives me so much motivation to continue on.  No time for breakfast so I made sure I still took my multivitamin and such.  I grabbed a yogurt and some walnuts.  For lunch I took some celery, another yogurt, pistachio nuts, banana, apple and a couple of granola bars.
I can't believe that this has all fallen into  place.  I am eating the right foods at the right times and I am getting the exercise and adding on new ones as I go.  I am not craving sweets or junk food.  Why wasn't it this easy before?!!
I am happy. I lost 5 pounds since my last weigh in.

getting better all the time

Today is Saturday January 28th 2012.  I need to keep track of my distance on my bike .  I have to figure out a way to record it better.  So far since 1/4 I have put on 38 miles.  I was doing 1 mile for starting but now I do 6 miles a day.  That is 3 in the morning and 3 at night.  I have increased my travel speed.  I have also incorporated 3 different arm exercises using 5 pound weights.  I have also added lunges with a core twist.  It is hard right now to keep a good balance with the lunges but it is a work in progress.  I hope to be adding some more core exercises to really reduce my abdomen.

My eating habits have improved dramatically.  I do not eat sweets or drink soda.  I am so thrilled that at this point I have lost 16 pounds.  My big hurdle today is to get through the winter picnic that Jay and Mark put on.  There is so much food out for the taking.  I got through it once before so....we will see.  I am motivated to not indulge because of my present success.  Will blog later.  I rode the bike this morning and I have to do the additional exercises.

A Better Day

I almost forgot about keeping track of my commitment.  Over the weekend, I started to go through a lot of my belongings.  I threw out so much junk and unnecessary items that I gained 4 empty rubbermaid containers.  I got rid of a lot of holiday decorations.  A lot.  I have been faithfully going on the recumbent bike and increasing  my miles.  Every morning and sometimes at night since either Thursday or Friday.  I feel better about myself.  My stride is much easier and when I walk down the hallways at work, I feel slightly taller.

I am in the weight loss zone and back on track.  I have been given a wake up call and now I am motivated.

Tonight I rode my bike another 3 miles.  I had a really good sandwich of Morning Star chicken patty on real italian bread with lettuce and tomatoes.  For breakfast this morning I had yogurt and 1/4 cup of walnuts.  For lunch I had a banana, celery, yogurt, string cheese and pistachio nuts.

All in all, it was a successful day.

bummer

no posting for day 3.  I had no want to write about how I did not do any exercise.  I won't give any excuse as that will not help in losing weight.  Today was a better day.  Jay woke me up at 5:15 and I rode my indoor bike for a mile and a half.  I then worked my arms with 3 pound weights.  After that I used the stretch bands to work my thighs.  I felt really good about doing all that in the morning before work.  I packed my lunch of celery, apple, yogurt and a few pistachio nuts.  My breakfast was a scrambled egg and a banana and a quarter cup of walnuts(essential fatty acids for my joints and for my brain cells).  I hope I keep this momentum going for the rest of the week.  I feel better and riding the  bike has given me my first day of no swollen feet.  Stay away bad days
