Before After

Hippity, Hoppity...

Hello ladies! Looks like everyone is doing well so far this week! So, today I got up early, dragged my butt on the subway and had an ok pedicure at my favorite spa, Bliss! http://blissworld.com/ It was relaxing and much needed! I am somewhat of a pedicure connoisseur, and though I have gotten excellent ones at Bliss before, this one was lacking somewhat. It was nice, but not fabulous! Considering this particular service was supposed to be 90 mins and cost $90, I was slightly annoyed that I wasn't as satisfied as I usually am. At least, it was paid for via Gift Certificate that my Mom had given me! I'll be writing an email to register my mild dislike. Regardless, my toes look as twinkley as they should!!

I peeked yesterday, and saw 182 on the scale! Considering I have TOM, I was thrilled, as you can imagine. We'll see what the good ol' JC scale says at WI, though... My scale and Jenny's scale are never on the same page! Hopefully I have lost this week, since next week's WI is Easter WI, where I hope to have reached my goal of breaking into the 170's! I'll even take 179.9! Lol!

I hope everyone is motivated and raring to go for another week of losing weight and getting healthy! Tomorrow is WI for me. One more week to go until my Easter Goal. Can’t wait for TOM to get lost, so I can stop taking teaspoons of the Reduced Fat Skippy every time I pass the cabinet! I mean really… who am I kidding anyway!?

Sending you all the skinniest of vibes! Lets make this week our best week yet, girls! Up the exercise and water consumption! We can do this!! Who wants to look like a hot tamale this summer- raise your hand!!!

I Kicked Ass!

Just a short post for me. It's 1:07 am here in NY, and I am still awake! No work for me today since I went to the hockey game, but I am exhausted anyway!!

Happy to report that I kicked ass at the tailgate! I decided to not drink beer, since I don't like the taste anyway. Was going to drink soda instead, but my partner [who was running the tailgate] only bought regular Sprite and Coke! I could've choked him! I was thirsty! He should know by now to pick up some diet soda, considering he has to hear me everyday in the car, talk about my weight loss struggles/achievements! Anyway, I decided all that sugar and 140 cals a can was not worth it, so I didn't drink anything!

For lunch I had brought FF Lays BBQ chips [75 cals, 0 fat] and Snyder's organic oatmeal pretzel sticks [120 cals, 1g fat]. Ate one hamburger, no cheese, ketchup and relish [295 cals, 10g fat]. All in all, I think I did awesome! Unfortunately, the NYPD Hockey Team didn't do as well as I did! FD beat us, 4-2. Ahhh, there's always next year!

Ok, well I am off to bed. Leo is snoring next to me and I need to be snoring myself! Lol. I hope you all are enjoying your weekend! Don't forget to tell the people that are close to you that you love them.

Tailgate!

Hello ladies! Happy Saturday to you all! Sorry I've been MIA the past 2 days, very busy over here. Well, it's rainy and chilly here in NY- not fun!

I am supposed to meet up with my coworkers for a tailgate party at 10 am for the NYPD vs. FDNY Hockey Game. We have a big rivalry with FD and it is an event every year. I am hoping the rain will stop soon! I'll probably get there around 11:30am- not to mention, the tailgate menu is beer, hot dogs and hamburgers- definitely not JC friendly! I have started TOM early and would love to eat that crap! I'm gonna do my best to control myself!! LOL. It won't be easy!

Well everyone, thanks for checkin in on BF. His appointment with the cardiologist went well. He has esstential hypertension, meaning his high BP is not caused by any secondary ailment. So, the doctor added a medication to the one he is already taking. This will keep his BP more controlled. The doc wants him back in 6 weeks to see how he is doing. I am happy that his heart is in good shape and his kidney function is normal. Cholesterol could come down a bit, but it's not horrible. Needless to say, I am relieved. I also made an appt for myself for a physical, on May 4th. Gotta keep myself healthy too!

Glad to see everyone posting! Have a great weekend with family and friends! Make smart choices that you won't regret at WI next week! Drink that water and move that body!!

Small Step Toward Easter Goal!

Hello all! It's a lovely 35 degrees with snow in NY! [Can you sense my sarcasm!] Well, back from WI and lost .8 lbs. I am fine with that, though I am cutting it a bit close with my Easter Goal! I have 2 weeks to lose 4.1 pounds to break into the 170's! I gotta buckle down!

Did food shopping and got BF's lunch and Leo's pills set up for tonight and tomorrow, since I am doing a double tonight. BF has a cardiologist appointment tomorrow at 3:15pm and I want to be there, but I am taking off too many days lately- hence the double shift! It's gonna be a long night!

So, girls, I will check in again tomorrow after I get home from work and sleep a bit. I hope the weather is a lot better wherever you are! Have a wonderful day! Drink that water!

Baby Leo

Hi everyone. I hope the weekend has been kind to you all. I wish my weekend had been good. But it was filled with a lot of tears and fear.

Everyone knows by now, how attached I am to my dog-son Leo. Well, after I made my last post to this site, I went into the living room so I can do my Pilates DVD. I said hi to Leo and called him over to the couch. He just kind of looked at me. I then went into the bedroom and called Leo in there (he LOVES to be in bed with me!) He slowly came into the room and I picked him up and laid him down with me. We lay there for a few minutes and then I sat up to look at him. Something was not right. He didn’t move, just laid on his side, and his nose was dry. For all of you non-dog lovers out there, a dry nose on a dog is a sign that he is sick.

So, I took Leo off the bed and put him on the rug in the living room, then called BF to ask him to come home and look at my baby boy. BF came home and agreed Leo was not his self. He wasn't barking or crying out in pain, but he kept flinching when I came near him. And when he was lying on the rug, his head was like one of those bobble head toys. It was like he was a cartoon and he was dizzy. This freaked me out more, so I called the vet so I could bring him in.

20 minutes later, we were in the vet's office. We waited about 45 minutes to be seen, as you can imagine how crowded a vet's office is on a Saturday afternoon. Leo didn't make a peep while waiting. He usually loves to jump around and bark at everyone, but not this time. It took all of my strength to hold it together and not bust out crying. When it comes to my Leo, I am like a doting Mom with her infant.

Anyway, the vet examined Leo and took x-rays. He got a neurological exam, which he failed. They did a full blood workup on him while I waited for the x-rays to develop. The doctor brought me back in to the exam room where she told me that Leo had a back injury. She said that it might have been as a result of having a seizure and then him falling or just jumping down off of furniture and landing the wrong way. She told me that the plan was to keep him in the Animal Hospital for 1-3 days, give him IV fluids, steroid shots to decrease the swelling in his spine and see how it goes. If he were not responding to treatment, then I'd be referred to a Dachshund back specialist on Long Island.

As I am sure you can all imagine, I felt as though the wind was knocked out of me. I have spent Leo's life, making sure he was careful not to play Super Dog and jump off of high heights. I have always known the risks that dachshunds face with their backs, and Leo's back is especially long. To say that I have been a little psycho about watching over my dog is an understatement.

Anyway, I spent the whole day and night after I left my baby boy, crying my eyes out. On the bright side, I did stick to JC pretty well though. A few extra low fat snacks were consumed, since I need to crunch when I am nervous- but nothing horrible. I didn't ever get a chance to exercise though.

So, I called the vet today and was told that that they would call me back with an update. I waited about an hour and the vet got back to me. He said that Leo was doing very well! He was standing up and walking a bit! He also said that I could visit him.

At 2pm I went to visit Leo. Again, I waited about 45 mins and then was lead into an exam room. Leo came in wearing a big collar, so he wouldn't rip the IV out of his paw. This was a good sign. He was wagging his tail and licking my face when he came in the room, trying to jump up on me- all good signs!! What a relief! The vet says that he is doing a lot better and that though his back is still tender, (apparently he slipped 2 discs,) he may be well enough to come home on Monday! Whew! So, needless to say, I am over the moon that my baby Leo will survive! I am thankful and glad that he got the medical attention that he needed, though it is costing me a small fortune! Lol.

Anyway, that is how my weekend went. Like I said before, I hope everyone else had a better time of it.

Well, ladies, another week is coming to a close. I hope this is the beginning of a new week filled with promise and success for us all!

**Update: Leo is home and resting comfortably. He'll be on a bunch of medicines for a while. I am so happy that he is home and he seems to be happy too! So, thank you all for the kind words. My baby boy is home!

My Drumsticks Are On Fire!

Hello ladies. Today is a gorgeous day in NY- the sun is shining bright! Too bad I have to go back to work! Oh well, gotta pay those bills!

Been good sticking to plan. On Wed night, since my tummy was back to normal, I decided to go for a jog. There is one pretty big hill down the block from me and I chose to run over than then up and down 2 blocks, continue to the beginning of the Belt Parkway and then back home. I didn't clock it on my odometer and I don't own a pedometer, so I'm not sure how long that was. It took me about 12 minutes total to complete, and let me tell you- I was running SLOW! Damn, it is hard starting to run again! After I got home I felt like 12 minutes of exercise was not enough, so I then did my 30 min. Pilates DVD. That's better. Now I feel like I got a good workout!

Yesterday, I woke up at the crack of dawn and realized that my thighs were staging a revolt against the rest of my body! Talk about pain! Holy sh!t! Needless to say, I was exhausted from just being up all day even though I was sitting down most of the day. So, no workout yesterday, other than walking Leo- which, by the way, was no easy feat due to my achin' thighs!

Today, I will definitely do my 30 min. pilates and am trying to decide if I should try to run again. It was really not a fun experience at all! I get out of breath sooo fast, my legs feel like two anvils trudging along and I constantly need to spit! Ughh. I know it gets better when I do it consistently, so that is why I am actually contemplating running today! Also- I did not have my iPod with me, nor did I have a piece of gum in my mouth when I was attempting to run. In the past, whenever I would go to the gym and exercise, chewing gum and music was my saving grace. It always helped keep me going. And no disgusting spitting! Eww! I think I'm gonna give it the good ol' college try again! Maybe I'll do the pilates first, so I am stretched out and warmed up, then go for a jog! You guys should see me... I think I look like Yoda shuffling along! LOL!

Ok, ladies so if I don't get out of here, I will never have time to do exercise before work!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day and a beautiful weekend! Drink that water and take advantage of the warm weather! Get that body outside and move it!

Don't forget to look around, take it all in and smell the flowers!!

Hip Hip Hooray!

Hello all! Good news!! Went to WI this morning and am down another 2.4 pounds! Yeehaw! I psyched! Now I am 4.9 pounds away from my Easter Goal of breaking into the 170's by my Easter WI (4/19)!

I was a bit annoyed at myself due to the fact that I did not meet my 6 days of exercise goal this past week. Got a bit busy and then the Applebee's food killed my stomach yesterday! (I literally spent all day in the bathroom! Not fun!) So, I am renewing my exercise goals for this week again. I am shooting for 6 days worth of exercise! No parties or other  events planned this week, so I should be able to stick to JC like glue!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day! Here in NY, the sun is shining bright and there is a light breeze in the air. Ahhh, come on warm weather! We need ya!

Great Day

Hello everyone! So, I had a lovely day yesterday. Leo [my dog-son,] actually let me sleep until 9:30am! I woke up, took him for a walk, ate my Complete Start Cereal, made coffee, took a shower and was out the door! Spent a beautiful day with my dear friend and her gorgeous 7-week-old daughter. We hung out at her house; I fed the baby and then went to the salon so my friend can get her waxing done. I took a walk around the shopping center and the baby and I enjoyed the warm sun. We then spent some time in my favorite store- Barnes and Noble. I love it there! So peaceful and quiet. Just us and the books. Wonderful!

Then my friend was done and we decided to get lunch at Applebee's. It's funny, because I always hated that restaurant! The one or two other times I've been there, the service was horrible and the food was nasty! Yuck. Short on time and it was in the shopping center so we said, "What the hell. How bad could it be?" I gotta tell you girls, it really wasn't bad! LOL. We both ordered from the WW part of menu. My friend is doing WW to lose the baby weight and lucky for me, each entree posted the cals, fat and fiber, so I could do a MOMO easily. For the past 3 weeks I have been tracking my calories and fat everyday to stay as close to my 1200 cal allotment. This helped out a lot! We split a lo-cal/lo-fat quesadilla for appetizers and I had a grilled chicken sandwich for my meal. It was good tasting and I felt full afterwards. All in all a good lunch. Don't get me wrong, I won't be traveling out of my way to go to Applebee's but on short notice with not many other healthy options, it fit the bill.

Well, did not feel so good last night after I got home from spending time with my friend. Had a bit of a queasy stomach. Decided to have a JC lunch for dinner since I had a big midday meal. Settled on the Homestyle Chicken Noodle soup and had a Light Thomas' English Muffin with jelly. Filling and not so heavy. I should be going back to work today. Will see how I feel later. I feel just ok right now. If I'm not feeling good, I may stay home instead.

I hope that wherever in the world you are, you feel at home. Enjoy every minute of every day, ladies. We can never get that time back. Hugs to you all!

How Bad Do You Want It?

Hi all! Had a great day today! Checked out my new Windsor Pilates DVDs and did the instructional workout, and then the 20 minute workout. Then I added another 30 minute Pilates workout that I had gotten 2 weeks ago. So, about 60 minutes of Pilates all together! It felt really great! I like it a lot! We'll see how the results go. I'll keep you all posted!

Leo [puppy dog] and I spent a few hours with my Dad watching various sports, at his house. He was happy to see the dog and me! He commented on how he can really tell that I am losing now, since I don't live there anymore and don't see him everyday. That was really nice to hear. My step mom made a comment too! Gotta love that positive reinforcement!

Spent time with BF's family as well. Talked and watched an old movie. Relaxed and watched the dogs play. BF's parents' dog is my dog's girlfriend! Lol! Ironically, the dog and I have the same name! Too funny! My name isn't even common! Oh well, what can ya do? She really is a beautiful black Lab! It's just weird to yell my own name at a dog!

Just finished up my yummy Lemon Cake with FF cool whip and FF hot cocoa with marshmallows. This is a ritual for me every night before I go to bed. It helps me wind down after I've worked all day, or puts a great ending to my day off!

Tomorrow, I will be visiting one of my closest friends in LI. She just had a baby girl on Feb 5- she is gorgeous! My buddy is going to help me work on my resume. It is time to go looking for some part time attorney work, as I have many goals to meet and not enough means with which to meet them! Lol! So, since she is a headhunter, she sees resumes everyday, and will tweak mine so it is readable! Wish me luck on the job search!

So, everyone... it is yet another week. Another week closer to the warm weather [for all of us up North]. Another week closer to bathing suits, shorts and tank tops! It is the last week of March and we are officially into springtime. So the question is...

How bad do you want it? By IT, I mean- health, weight loss, looser clothes, a healthy body, lower blood pressure, a stronger back, leaner thighs and all of the jealous stares from the women you pass?

HOW BAD DO YOU WANT IT ALL?

You have to want it, in order to get it! So, enough messing around! It is time to kick it into high gear! This is the time to eat on plan, drink the water and do the exercise. If you've failed on diets before- so what?! Who cares! That was before. This is now. This is the rest of your life! Make it count.

Take responsibility for all of your actions. Do not blame your food addiction on the people in your life that have disappointed you. They are not forcing you to eat! You will gain control of your life and you will lose all of the weight that you want to lose.

Keep your head in the game and your eye on the ball! Come on people! LET'S DO THIS!

Have an absolutely amazing week!

Sundays Are Relaxing

Good morning everyone. I hope you all are enjoying your weekend so far. Things are going as planned over here. No parties or get togethers to give me a reason to stray off plan so far. I've exercised 3 out of 4 days so far, which still keeps me on target for 6 days of it. Feeling good about that. I have not done my new Pilates DVDs yet. I'm going to check them out today. I wanted to wait until I was off from work, so if I don't feel as though I really got a workout, then I can either do my WATP DVD or go for a jog. I'll keep you all posted as to how I fair.

Well, nothing much on the agenda today. Going to do exercise, then bring my puppy dog to Petco. He loves to bark at any dogs that are in the store. We're gonna buy some treats and then go visit my Dad in LI. He really misses my dog since I moved out. We'll hang out there for a little while, and then come back home.

After dinner, BF, the dog and me will go to BF's parents' house to hang out with his family. More chatting and coffee over there! All in all, a relaxing day. Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend! Do that exercise and drink that water!!
