Before After

Spahhh and 5 pounds!

Hello everyone! I am back, relaxed and bloated from my 'Girlfriends' Weekend!' Needless to say, I did not follow any diet, other than the "drink all the wine and eat whatever you want diet!" Looks like the scale says I am up 5 pounds! Yikes! No excuses now... I must get back to moving my body in some form of exercise! In addition, I have started doing Core today. No more messing around! I need to get it together!

So, the hotel was lovely and the spa was wonderful. I have been to many spas in my time, and this particular Elizabeth Arden Red Door was one of the best! The people were friendly and my massage was divine! Luckily for me, my girlfriends got me a gift certificate for my pedicure, so I decided to add on another service and get a facial!! Considering I am tanned, and because I have had blackheads on my nose since I was 13 years old, I usually don't opt for a facial. Facialists always seem to LOVE to extract every single last blackhead on my face, and it friggin hurts! I know, I am a baby but seriously- it hurts a lot!! This time around, I lucked out and was told how great my skin was [who knew?!] and she was very gentle!! Yay!

The massage was out of this world and so was the pedicure. All in all, we had a wonderful time at the spa! I definitely recommend it to anyone who needs to relax... On another happy note, we went to Mohegan Sun and I actually got up the nerve to play at the blackjack tables! Considering I don't know much about the game, other than how to count to 21, I did really well! We were lucky enough to find a $15 table and we played for about 2 hours. I was up and down throughout the night, but when I finished my last hand, I was up $60!! Hey, I'm no high roller, but what a sense of accomplishment I felt!! We had lots of fun there!

The food and wine all weekend was amazing! I won't get into the details, but lets just say I did not count a single calorie. The wine was flowing nonstop and we had a great time! Luckily, one of my girlfriends is 8 months pregnant, so we always had a designated driver!! Lots of good times. Oh, and we stopped by Mystic Pizza [based on the movie with Julia Roberts] and had a yummy dinner!

I'm not going to bore you guys with any more details about my trip. Just wanted to check in, let you know that all of your good wishes worked, and that I am back with a vengeance!! Core here I come!! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Today's The Day!

Well, ladies, I will be heading out to the spa in a couple of hours. I have a bunch of errands to run first, then I will hit the road. The plan is to meet up at a girlfriend's house and catch a ferry from Orient Point, Long Island over to Connecticut. The ride is supposed to be lovely. The ferry drops us off in CT, about 10 miles from our destination. Then it is relaxation for the whole weekend!!

I will be thinking of you guys every time I attempt to eat healthfully! I will do my best to limit my wine intake. No promises though!! Have a fabulous weekend girls! Wish me luck at the casino!

Halfway and 40? No Sireee!

Well, it seems that Halfway and the 40 pound mark evades me. Ugh! At least I lost 0.6 lb this week. It's better than gaining, right? But you know what? It's my own damn fault! I still have not gotten back on the exercise bandwagon. I know that if I would just do some form of SOMETHING, I will start dropping the pounds again. Hmmm, do I smell, self-sabotage? Or, is it good ol' fashioned laziness? Something to think about I guess.

Next week, I will be going away with my girlfriends for our annual getaway. This year, we are keeping it inexpensive and low key with a trip to Mystic, CT. One of the girls is pregnant and due in Sept, so we didn't want to travel too far from NY, just in case the baby decides to alter our plans. We will be staying at the Marriot in Groton, CT. Conveniently, an Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa is located within! We already have our spa appointments booked! Aha... It will be a very relaxing 3 nights, 4 days away from home/work. We are leaving next Thursday and will be returning on Sunday.  I cannot wait!

Anyway, for all of you WWers- I am going to attempt a foray into the wonderful world of Core! Not having bread should be funny! I stocked up yesterday, on every Core food I can think of. Anyone that has any suggestions on how to get by and stay sane on Core, is welcome to comment. I figure, while I am away next week, it will be a lot easier to not count points and just eat what I want. Hopefully it will work! Now, if I can just stay away from wine...

Have a great 4th of July weekend everyone!! Drink lots of water! Enjoy that BBQ!

It's Been Awhile...

Since I've last posted. I did catch up and say hello to everyone, so I feel like less of a loser now! I love that you all check in on me from time to time- making sure I am still breathing. I am such a lazy bones.

So, had WI this past Saturday. Saw a 1.2 lb loss. That means I am down 5.4 lbs with WW and 38.4 overall. Unfortunately, I have not jumped back on the exercise bandwagon as of yet. I cannot seem to motivate myself to just do it! I really need to get my ass moving if I am going to make it through the rest of this weight loss battle!

BF and I went to a family party this passed Sunday. It was his niece's Baptism. Of course there was a fun get-together and lots of Italian food was served. Yum! I did well with portion control though. And no alcohol, so I was okay.

TOM should be here for a visit next week, so I am going thru some serious PMS munchies the passed few days! Lucky for me, I have to go food shopping, so there isn't much left to eat! Gotta do that tomorrow.

BF is doing really well on WW. He doesn't go to the meetings, just counts his points. Bless his heart he is trying and doing great!! I think we want to try and do Core next week and see how it goes. It's easier than counting, especially when you are on patrol like we are. Sometimes it's not so easy to whip out the good ol' WW Points Finder when you are flying to a Robbery in progress! The fact that I cannot eat any bread on Core kind of scares me though. I am getting Atkins flashbacks! And let me tell ya, that was not a good time for me!

That's all- for now! I will definitely check in and post more frequently. I miss you guys! Seems like you all are chuggin along and doing great! Can you all believe it is almost 4th of July weekend?! Have a wonderful week!! Drink lots of water!!

Busy Bee!

Hello all! Thanks for the many posts of encouragement. I really appreciate you guys taking the time out to check in on me! This past week and a half has been hectic! Lots of functions and working some overtime has been keeping me super busy!

As for last Saturday's WI, I was up a pound. Needless to say, this is really not that bad considering what I ate 2 days prior!! My precinct had a Mets baseball trip to Philly and I basically ate and drank whatever I wanted! Here' s the rundown: 3 Original Sin hard ciders, 1 mojito, one hotdog, one big soft pretzel, 2 pieces of the 6ft. hero and then later at home, I had 2 slices of pizza! Can you say gorgefest?! Lol. So, like I said before, being up one pound on Sat. is not that big of a deal!

A problem that I am running into now is that I have not gotten back to my exercise routine. I was spoiled walking at the park everyday in the beautiful May and early June weather. Just perfect! Now that it is 80 degrees here, before noon- I cannot seem to get myself to the park! I am sweating when I walk out the door! And of course, I don't want to do the WATP dvd since it is so beautiful outside! Ugh! Do you see how easy it is for me to talk myself out of exercising? I promised myself that tomorrow would be the day.

On the bright side, BF has decided to do WW with me! He won't be going to the meetings, but I got him a points counter and he writes down his food. I cannot believe how many points that men can eat and still lose weight!! He gets 33 points per day!! Must be nice! Anyway, he suffers from high BP and is on medication for it since he was 13 years old, so I really want him to be at the healthiest weight that he can. I would say that he only needs to lose about 20 pounds or so. And to help get my ass back to the park, I have asked him if he wanted to join me, and he agreed! So, it's back to the park for me and BF!

Hope all is well with everyone. I am going to make it a point to check up on you all. Have a wonderful week! Enjoy the warm weather!!

It Works!

Hello everyone! Hope you all have as beautiful weather as we are having here in NYC. It is 67 degrees and 50% humidity with blue skies and puffy white clouds! It is delightful!

Went to WI this morning, bright and early at 7:15am! Actually, I was late, but I got there for most of the meeting. Much to my surprise, I showed a 5.2-pound loss this week!! Yippee! What makes this sweeter of course is the fact that I have been losing for over 7 months already, so these are real pounds and not water weight! This is the movement on the scale that I have been waiting for over the past 3 weeks. It has finally arrived!

I think my weeklong hiatus from my walk/run regimen is what did the trick. I figured I'd give myself a rest from doing planned exercise for my first week on WW. I walked the dog but nothing more vigorous than that. I guess my body needed the rest. As I was peeking at the scale during the week, I kept seeing the scale move down. Or maybe it was the fact that I was eating different foods. Mmmm. Who knows? All that I care about is that I am back into the 170's and that I am .9 pounds away from hitting Halfway! Yee Haw!

I am off from work today and will be going to BF’s family’s house for dinner. Planning on lying low and just relaxing. Then it is back to work tomorrow and my 20-mile goal for the week. I think my body is craving the exercise and being active again.

I have officially decided that my 50-pound reward goal is to buy a bike for myself. I figure in about 11 pounds, I will need a change in my exercise routine and biking is a great way to accomplish that. Needless to say, I have not ridden a bike in years! Ugh! Nox makes riding 4 miles sound so easy! So, now I have to hurry up and get to that goal so I can buy a nice bike while the weather is warm!! What color should I get? Any thoughts?

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the weekend. I’m gonna go check on all of you lovely ladies now. Have a great day!!

WW It Is!

Hello ladies! I am here, have no fear! Lol. The past few days have been pretty good. Been doing my own thing until today, when I joined WW at 7:15am! I just could not take doing JC anymore. I have been with them for 7 months. The ease of the plan is fantastic, but with the last two weeks of me gaining, I needed to make a change. I know that the gain is probably due to muscle mass, but still- it is discouraging. In any case, I have jumped on the WW bandwagon to shake things up a bit. Will I finish my weight loss battle on WW? Who knows. Just gonna do my best and see what happens.

My WW WI showed me up another .6 from JC's WI on Wed. Ugh. TOM is here to rear its ugly head, so I'm not too pissed at myself. Since Wed, I have not really been sticking to any plan, just kind of winging it. So, I am not surprised that the scale is up a bit. I have not done my park walk/run in 4 days. Partly due to the horrible thunderstorms here, over the past several days and also due to bad scheduling on my part. I will be there tomorrow though. 20 mile goal for this week!

Today, BF and I went to a family friend's surprise Anniversary Party. We had a really good time mingling with people and laughing. The food was great and the couple was surprised! I have added 2 pictures to my profile. Hopefully you can see some change in my appearance. I am still not ready for full-length pics yet! There is another pic from the Memorial Day BBQ that BF and I went to. I think we look cute together!!

To all of the WW losers out there: what plan are you following? I am planning to do Core this week and see how it goes. What breakfast cereal can I eat? How about Kashi GoLean? I left WW before they added Core a few years back, so I am not sure what I can do about cereal or oatmeal. Any tips on Core would be much appreciated!

Thank you all for checkin up on me. I really appreciate the support of all you girls. It really helps to know that you guys are out there rooting me on! Wish me luck on my next phase of losing the weight! Enjoy the rest of the weekend! :o)

Here I Am!

Hello all! I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend filled with family, laughs and good bbq!! BF and I took off on Saturday and went to my friend’s bbq. I ate more than I had wanted to: veggies and crackers with dip, 2 hot dogs [one w/ the bun], cheeseburger, ½ cup of potato and pasta salad each, corn on the cob, a cupcake and a smores brownie. I did not drink alcohol at all, so even though my calories were a bit much food-wise, I didn’t totally wreck things with boozing it up too!

I have continued to do my walk/run routine almost everyday. I took off yesterday and just walked Leo for a mile after work. Today, I did my usual 4.5 miles: [2.25 walk/2.25 run] in the 80 degree heat! I was a puddle at the end! Feeling better though. I seriously don’t know how people run marathons. Or half marathons for that matter! I’ve always wanted to do one, but thinking about running 13.1 miles or 26.2 miles is a bit hard to wrap my brain around! I am still huffin’ and puffin’ after I do my ½ mile lap! Lol. All in good time I guess! I have done 19 miles and therefore, have 1 mile left to finish up my 20 mile goal for the week. Tonight, when it is cooler, I will walk Leo again to complete it. I don’t take him for longer than 1 mile. I think that would be uncomfortable for him!

So, I have been peeking at the scale and it looks like it is back down to what it was 2 weeks ago- 177. I am seriously considering doing my own thing soon. JC is really convenient, but after 7 months on the program, I am bored to tears! I’ll see how WI goes tomorrow, since I only post my WI as my official weight. I’m thinking that I may join some of you girls at good ol’ WW. I’ve done it a few times and had success in the past. I’ll see…

BF has brought up the engagement thing a few times again. It looks like late this year/early next year for it to officially happen. We have some money issues [who doesn’t?] that need to be taken care of before he spends a few grand on a ring. So, patiently I wait. :o) We have been talking about venue, whether to invite kids, what month we’d like and other fun stuff. I am a totally girly girl, but never let myself get excited about the possibility before. Now he is making it impossible to NOT get psyched! I know my parents will be over the moon! My brother was the only one who married out of the 4 of us, and sadly, that ended in divorce with no kids. My older sister does not want to marry her BF of 14 years nor does she want kids, and my younger sister just came out of a relationship. So, it looks like I am it!! Lol! I hope they will be so excited and thrilled that they will offer to help pay for a wedding!! ;oD A girl can dream…

I hope everyone is back from the long weekend trips safe and sound. There is nothing on the agenda this week that will thwart my weight loss efforts. Same old stuff: stay away from the RF Skippy and get in 20 miles of walking/running.

I am going to try and post an updated pic this week. I don't have a digital camera, so I will borrow my Dad's this weekend and will post one. I promise! I'll let you all know how WI went tomorrow. My appt is at 10am. Drink that water and do your exercise ladies!! Enjoy your day!

UPDATE: I gained 0.6 lb at WI. This is ridiculous. Move over Serena, Sara and Sara; WW here I come. Gotta go to work. I'll post again late tonight or tomorrow! :o)

That Pesky Scale!

Hi guys! It seems like every time that I mean to log on and check on everyone's blogs I don't have the time!! Sorry! Just got back from my walk/run at the park. Did another 4.5 miles total: 2.5 miles walking and 2 miles running. The running is still hard as hell, but breaking it up every 1/2 mile helps. I guess I am getting better since I am averaging about a 12.5 minute mile which is down a little from the 13 minute mile I was doing last week. I feel really great and exhausted when I am done!!

Peeked at the scale this morning and saw it up a pound or two! Yikes!! Truth be told, I did have a couple of Tbsp of Reduced Fat Peanut Butter and a few too many low fat Triskets earlier this week. Last Wed was the dinner out to celebrate BF's Mom's retirement and I pretty much ate what I wanted. All in all, I didn't think I did too badly over the week- pretty much stuck to plan and did 19 miles of running/walking so far. Will hit my 20 mile goal tonight after work when I take Leo for a 1 mile walk.

Either way, I can definitely tell how my clothes are fitting looser. So if my WI tomorrow doesn't show a loss or is up a bit, I am not going to pout. The running that I have incorporated has really upped the intensity and I know that I am building lots o' muscle. I was able to fit into Women's size L Gap running pants the other day!! I wore them to the park for my workout and though they weren't the most comfortable, they were good enough to move around in. I have not been able to fit into these pants in over 5 years!! Yahoo! So, like I said, if the scale is evil tomorrow- I'll just suck it up and keep on truckin’!!

Hope everyone is enjoying the weather where they are. It is blue skies, light breeze and 64* here in NY. Off to shower and to work.  Have a wonderful day ladies!! Do that exercise!! ;o)

UPDATE: WI showed a 1 pound gain. I am not happy about this at all, but will not whine about it. I guess I need to step away from the reduced fat Skippy. :o(

When in doubt...exercise!

Hi ladies! So busy over the past few days. Had so many errands to do on my days off. I went back to work today! Boo! Didn’t feel like going!  Luckily I am home now, relaxing!

My exercise plan has been going very well, I am happy to report. Yesterday I went with BF and Leo to the park. BF walked Leo along the grass and the beach while I did my walk/jog. I was able to do 3 miles of walking and 1.5 miles of jogging!! Yahoo! I felt great afterwards and finished up within seconds of a big thunder and lightning storm!

Today I went to the park by myself and decided to change things up a bit. In order to increase my endurance and keep losing those pounds, I decided to start alternating my walk and jog each 1/2 mile. Since I walk on a 1/2 track this was easy!! I start walking the first lap and then every other one I jog it. So, I completed 9 laps total, since BF pointed out yesterday, that I really need to do a cool down. Before, I would jog the last lap, stretch and get in the car and go home. Starting yesterday, I added a lap to my 4 mile walk so I can cool down, then stretch. And, it adds another 1/2 mile to my distance so that is great!! I am averaging about a 12-13 mile now. I am so proud of myself!! It isn’t' easy, let me tell ya, but I am suckin' it up and gettin' it done!!

In other good news, BF and I have been taking about getting engaged alot recently. Thankfully, I started JC already, so that I won't have to lose a load of weight as I am also trying to plan a wedding! My mother has also offered BF her engagement solitaire. My parents divorced a long time ago and my Mom made her ring into a pendant. She adores my BF and says she'd rather see the stone on my finger now since the only other time I'd get it would be when she dies! Since BF and I are police officers and do not make much money, not to mention he is just coming out of a divorce and pays child support, the stone really helps. We've been together for almost 2 years [Sept] and I am really excited! Don't know when it will happen. I would think by the end of this year. BF knows that I have always wanted a September wedding. Who knows! As they say, patience is a virtue!!

Gotta go to bed now. It’s been a long day. Hope everyone is doing great!! Thank you all for checkin in on me and giving me such great feedback! It really helps to get thru this when you know people are out there cheering you on! Enjoy the rest of the weekend!
