Starting Something
Today... I want to start something... I want to lose weight. I have done it before, but usually at the first signs of success, I reward myself with over eating.
My reasons: I want to be a better me. I want to be healthier. I can feel the effects my weight has on me. I want to be happier. I don't like the large me that I seen in the mirror. I want to be someone my nephew can look up to as a positive role model.
Why now? Well, for the second year in a row, I am taking part in my office's walk across Texas event. Over 12 weeks, my teammates and I will together walk the distance across Texas. Last year over did it and sprained my knee severely... making the last few weeks hard. This year, I am going to be safer and smarter. I figure this will be a good starting point to a habit. They say it takes 21 days to start a habit. I am looking forward to starting a healthy habit.
I am hoping this blog will provide me with a way to keep up with my progress... vent my frustrations... and share my celebrations.
So here goes nothing...

The walk across Texas thing that your office is doing is so cool! So how many miles is that equivelant to? Good luck on your loss... you CAN do it!

.
Across Texas West to East or North to South? I know the West to East on is like....500 miles or more? I remember in college some guys in a band talking about mile markers out by El Paso and being amazed and I can't remember if they said 500 something or 800 something.
Good luck!

welcome!
Congratulations on your new commitment & welcome to EP! This walk across Texas sounds amazing! How many miles? I did the breast cancer 3-day in Philly this past fall and LOVED it even though I find walking boring at times.

SORRY!
Sorry it took so long to respond... I kinda forgot about the blog :O(
Walk Across Texas did not QUITE work out like I wanted it to. My confidence and excitement wore off way too quickly... with a mix of bad weather... and life being life... I ended up GAINING weight during the program... instead of losing weight. I have since lost most of the gained weight... so I guess I am practically back at square one.
To answer your question... the Walk Across Texas is designed to have all the 8 team members log a combined total of miles... that equal the distance across Texas (aprox 830 miles). My teazm came up short... reaching 639 miles.
To be honest... my excitement got rained out the second week. With weather and lack of motivation from other participants.
Thanks for the encouragement!
