Before After

To The Treadmill!!!

This week I started over on my training due to work complications last week and convenience (the program is for actual days of the week so it will be easier to follow starting Monday).  I did my 20 minutes of walking 20 and jogging 10 Monday and my 20 minutes of walking Tuesday and the weather was very agreeable. Today it's pouring rain out but I'm not going to let that stop me, I am lucky enough to have a treadmill so I'm taking my training to it this morning. Training for today is 20 minutes of walking 20 steps and jogging 20 steps back and forth, so I'm ready for a bit of a challenge. Also I've been doing 200 crunches a day, 100 when I get up and 100 before I go to bed, and I can feel my abs starting to change! I've also been sticking to a South Beach-esque diet and still seeing some weight loss.

Well, I have drank my protein and I am off to the treadmill! The only way this thunderstorm can stop me now is if we lose power... let's hope that's not the case.

Running Start

It was such a beautiful day out today! I took advantage by taking a long walk out at the wildlife refuge nearby. During the walk I started my training to become a runner. The plan starts with a 10 week Pre-Training Program and then advances, because you have to be able to jog comfortably before they start you on the actual running. Week 1 goes as follows:

Day 1: Jog for 10 counts of your right foot, then walk for 20 counts of your right foot. Repeat the process for 20 minutes.

Day 2: Walk for 20 minutes.

Day 3: Jog for 20 counts of your right foot, then walk for 20 counts of your right foot. Repeat the process for 20 minutes.

Day 4: Walk 20 Minutes

Day 5: Jog for 20 counts of your right foot, then walk 10 counts of your right foot. Repeat the process for 20 minutes.

Day 6: Walk for 20 minutes

Day 7: Do some other activity.

It sounds pretty easy, but the hills at the wildlife refuge proved pretty challenging during the jogging increments. I think this is a good way to start so that I won't push too hard right off and come down with any injuries. Day 1 is down, and I'm sure the 20 minute walk days will be no problem.

I can't wait to see my endurance improve! Here's to becoming a healthy, fit runner :)

Bye Bye Beer Belly

I'm pretty sure that the majority of my weight gain has been due to alcohol consumption. Not only have I drank too much for too long but the effects make me more careless on my eating decisions. I know this is starting to sound like an AA meeting but I know that I have a problem, and I'm ready to take full responsibility for the damage that I have caused to my life. It all started because I was unhappy with my life, but now I have found that I can be content despite all my setbacks. I know now that I don't need a relationship to make me happy, if anything the ones I have been in have only made things worse. I can actually say that I am happy now, I have great plans for my future. Hopefully I will be getting into a Polysomnography program this fall and working towards a good paying career so I can really start LIVING. I want to travel, I want to learn, I want to be the girl I always dreamed I could be. This is much more than weight loss for me.... This is life gain :)

Wow.

I can't believe I've gotten this fat... I'm 22, 5'7.5" and I weigh in at 207lbs. I vowed when I was in the 170s that I wasn't going to waste my 20s being fat and then I guess I just let myself go. I know that a lot of my weight gain has been due to alcohol, inactivity and apathy. I'm working to get out of this unhealthy lifestyle though. I actually maxed out at 217 and I've recently lost 10lbs by following the South Beach diet, which is what I had lost a lot a weight on when I was younger. I have struggled with my weight for most of my life, but I really want to be healthy and fit for good. I've become more comfortable with myself and I hope that someday I can be a size that will allow me to have the confidence that I've been needing.

I still have 62lbs to lose to my goal.

Wish me luck
