Well... I have officially smashed back into the overweight barrier!! I've gained 6lb in the pst month - not down to the baby!!
As of 1st Aug, I am on a mission to get back down to 11 stone (154lb) in time for Christmas.
I've set 1st Nov as my goal date as 3rd Nov is Hubby's birthday & mine is a few weeks after, so it'll be good if I am there by then.
So... 20lb in 3 months - Do-able?!
I hope so!
When I first joined EP way back in 2009, I lost 14lb in my first month, and 7lb in my 2nd month. I would love this to happen again, but am more realistic and aiming for a healthy 2lb a week loss (not counting the weeks AF is here) so 3 months seems about right for that. (13 weeks).
My plan: I am going back to low fat eating. I am no longer breast feeding (long dull story) so don't need to worry about eating enough for Sam.
It worked for me before and I am hopeful it'll work again. I am also going to break out the Zumba Kinect game, and hopefully Zumba away the baby bulge!!
The eagle eyed bloggers amongst you may have noticed I'm not trying to get back down to my pre pregnancy weight of 10 stone (140lb). This is because I have seen photos of myself from pre pregnancy which make me look ill - it is easy to see now why people were worried I had an eating disorder.
So I'll be happy with 154lb (which at 5 foot 9 is a BMI of 22.75, so within the normal range.
I am starting on 1st Aug because I am skint & can't stock up on the healthy low fat foods until then. In the meantime, I am going to eat as healthily as possible and will try to start exercising more too. Sam's routine isn't settled yet so it's going to be a bit hit & miss for a while when I can fit it in. I will be getting plenty of walking in of course - pushing him around, but as he is a needy baby who likes lots of cuddles, workout time will be in the evenings when (if) he goes to sleep!!
I hope you're all doing great. I'll catch up on blogs soon xx
Hey guys. Sorry it's been so long. Life got pretty hectic there for a while lol.
Sam was born on 4th June, so he is fast approaching 6 weeks of age now. He weighed 9lb when he was born!! I had him naturally, it was all very quick. He was born in under 90 minutes from me arriving at the hospital! I have no idea how, but I did it without injury too lol - not a single stitch was needed!!
I am still almost 28lb up on my pre pregnancy weight, despite breast feeding so I'm going to try & start eating healthier meals and do a bit more exercise, starting now.
I don't have time to catch up on all the blogs i've missed (obviously) so bring me up to speed on what's been happening with you!!
Well... we went to our 28 week scan and consultant appointment today...
Baby is looking perfect.
I am a bit anaemic so need to get more iron. Hmmm, not easy when you're vegetarian. Cue lots of Spinach & Cornflakes lol.
We are no further on as far as the birth plan goes. They aren't sure if I can do it naturally due to my health issues, but equally they aren't sure if I can have a caesarian section due to my health issues. Catch 22 lol.
I hope they make a decision soon, otherwise we'll need to call on Harry Potter to magic the baby out, I think...!!
I need to see the anaethatist so they can go through my history & discuss options to come up with the safest option.
Hope they make that appointment soon - I have less than 12 weeks until my due date and a horrible feeling I'm going to go into labour early. (I don't know why, but I have a feeling I will)...!!
So that... in a nutshell is my news.
The scales are still going upwards, but that's ti be expected too LOL!!
The baby has a name now too..... Sam Bailey. (He's a he remember)!!
Hey Losers!! Sorry it's been so long. I haven't logged on in weeks. I doubt I'll catch up with your posts.
I am doing much better, and Batman (bump) is fine. I'm 28 weeks pregnant today so finally in the 3rd Trimester. We have a 28 week scan tomorrow just to check his growth etc.
So... let me know what i have missed!!
I am going to try to read the last few blogs & will aim to read new ones each morning. But, I am afraid I'll struggle to read the past few weeks' worth which I have missed.
Well, yesterday's scan went very well. Baby was being a bit naughty so it took a while to get all the necessary measurements but all is looking well & she is very confident it's a boy!!
I was right - yay me hahahaha!!
We have no idea on names, but there's another 20 weeks to argue about that, so no great rush yet LOL!!
Here's his scan photo. It's not very clear as he turned away at just the wrong moment!!
I am 20 weeks pregnant today - half way there!! Tomorrow is our 20 week scan. They'll check baby over & rule out lots of health issues and hopefully they'll be able to tell us the baby's sex too.
We're not bothered either way what sex the baby is, but we're eager to find out LOL!!
Anyways... I've been running a bit of a poll on Twitter - a Guess the gender poll, based on my bump as it is now.
Feel free to join in if you want to...
This is my 20 week bump, taken this afternoon.
I have thought I'm having a boy from day one, but all of the old wives tales say it's a girl.
What do you think??
The scan is at 3.10pm UK time, I'll be posting the verdict on facebook & Twitter afterwards but don't know if I'll get onto my laptop after it tomorrow, but I'll update you all ASAP with the results - if you're not my FB friend or following me on twitter lol.
Anyways - feel free to guess & have a great humpday tomorrow xx
Hello everyone!! Just letting you know I am still alive LOL!
I haven't had much free time to get on here lately, between work, family stress and pregnancy exhaustion etc....
Anyways... I'm doing ok, and Baby seems fine in there. I have my 20 week scan on Wednesday & should hopefully find out baby's sex then too.
My hip has been a nightmare. I've been in too much pain to drive, and walking for more than 5 minutes sees me holding on to stuff in pain & I am generally feeling exhausted.
I went for Acupuncture on Monday & that definitely seemed to help. I felt 80% better until yesterday, it's pretty much back to square one now though. I'm back for more acupuncture on Monday though. Gotta love the NHS - it's FREE!!
I'm still giving myself the Heparin injections, and still covered in bruises from them. But as I keep telling myself... it's worth it if it means baby is healthy & I don't get DVT.
The Scan on Wed will hopefully rule out most of the other health issues my sisters have, and then I'm hoping to feel confident enough to start shopping for our new arrival. (We've not bought anything yet)!!
Eating has been a bit chaotic, as we've had no oven for over 2 weeks, so it's not been as healthy as i'd have liked. Not to worry - it's fixed now & I'll be eating a better diet from this point onwards.
I doubt I'll be able to catch up on all the blogs I have missed, but please give me an update of anything important I've missed these past 2 weeks.
Feel free to place your bets on what sex the baby is too... as far as the old wives tales go... my bump is all front and baby's heart rate is 156BPM. I had horrible morning sickness too.
All the signs point to girl, but I am still calling bump "him" lol!!
I noticed last week that the Extra Pounds homepage no longer featured Heather, me, Kat or Donna as the featured members, but had been changed back to the old featured members.
This made me laugh. Quite a bit actually.
It's a good job I'm not easily offended, or I'd think they'd removed us deliberately hehe!!
Don't know if it's a glitch or if they have actually fired us - either way, I was tempted to take it as a sign I should stop blogging on here - it's like a ghost town now.
I used to complain that it took too long to catch up on everyone's blogs, but now it takes me no more than 15 minutes - even if I haven't logged on in a week.
I feel a bit guilty about leaving though - I'm not one for taking & not giving, so I kind of feel that I owe other EP members something - you guys supported me from obese to goal, and I was looking forward to doing the same in return. But there's hardly anyone around these days LMAO!!
Also, I am conscious of the fact that once I've had the baby, chances are I'll have baby weight to lose, so I'll be looking for your support all over again.
For that reason, I'm gonna stick with EP. Even though I am currently not exercising much, or trying to maintain or lose.
I feel like I don't belong here while I'm pregnant but I'll continue checking in on you guys anyway.
I have been feeling sick for a couple of days, so decided to track my
food on myplate to see if I was eating too much, as I felt like i'd been grazing constantly. It turned out that despite the extra snacks, I
have been eating far too little!!
(Calorie intake for yesterday was under 1500 calories)! TUT TUT!!
(The Grey numbers on the bottom are my targets to maintain my weight, so I need about 200 calories more than it says LOL)!
Clearly I need to sit down & work out how I can eat more without pigging out on total junk food.
Yesterday I had:
Breakfast: 2 slices of white toast with margarine & raspberry jam Snack: Large glass of Fruit Juice. Lunch: 2 slices of French toast (Eggy bread) with tinned tomatoes & herbs Snack: 1 bag of pickled onion Monster Munch Light Tea - 5pm: Small bowl of veggie sausage casserole. Full tea - 8pm: Another bowl of veggie sausage casserole (veggie sausages, onion, carrots, garden peas, celery, swede, gravy).... Supper: Bowl of cereal.
So you see.... it's not like I'm not eating LOL! I don't think I could actually eat any more to increase my calorie intake, so I think I'll have to try and make meals which contain more calories in them.
Sometimes, being Veggie is a nightmare!! I swear it never used to be this hard to eat so many calories LMAO!!
I weighed in this morning to a 0.75lb weight loss, too. OOPS!!
I've had 2 slices of toast for breakfast & am going to have Egg mayo sandwiches for lunch (We had eggs which need using desperately so egg mayo will feature heavily on today & tomorrow's menus LOL)!! Guess tea tonight will also be egg mayo sarnies & I'll drink a gallon of OJ to make sure I don't get blocked up by so many eggs LOL!!
Suggestions for veggie meals with more calories but not junk food are welcome by the way!!
Think I'll be getting back into the pasta bakes & rice dishes next week, once we've been food shopping LOL!! xx
I went to my consultant's appointment yesterday & they've discovered I carry the gene for DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis). 3 of my siblings have had DVT, which is why they tested me for it.
Anyway,
they've decided that the gene & my bad back are enough of a concern
to get me to inject myself daily with Innohep (Heparin).
It's a proper syringe, with a plunger etc, not like an eppy pen you just bang on yourself, and the injections sting like hell.
I
am gutted about it. It seems to be one thing after another at the
moment. I was finally starting to enjoy being pregnant & now this.
Obviously
I know it's better to have them & hopefully prevent a clot, but at
the same time, I'm dreading it as I know from my siblings' experiences I
am going to look like a human pin cushion before long! I bruise very easily so will look like a battered wife soon too lol.
I have to give myself 1 injection a day until the baby is 6 weeks old. I can't have an epidural while I am on the Heparin so god knows what that will do to my birth plan lol.
They showed me how to inject myself yesterday & I had to do it
myself this morning. I was shaking so much I dropped the syringe before
i'd done it & bent the needle LOL! I had to get rid of that one
& use a fresh one.
I hope it gets easier soon, because I am feeling like the most useless woman in the world at the minute. Pity Party for 1!!
Hope everyone else is having a better day!
PS sorry it's not diet related, probably a good job we've not done the xmas food shop yet or i'd be comfort eating as well as sulking LOL!!
Oh, and being thin isn't all that when you have to inject yourself daily - it flaming hurts when there's no fat there to absorb it LOL!!
Here's a photo of my 1st successful injection - (not counting the bent one i'd thrown into the sharps box haha!!)
