How to get back on track....

Okay I'm typing this then getting in the Shower.

My eating has sucked! My craphead hubby eats crap. I see him eat crap and I want to eat crap. So since Sunday my eating has taken a turn for the worst. But that only 3 days? I think I can turn myself around. I'm being honest about it and that feels great.

This morning I'm going to go do a little shopping. I need have coupons for a little store in town that sells cute things(Jim Shore). So I'm going to get some more Christmas shopping out of the way.

So between shopping and taking a nap today (since I slept like crap last night) I won't be eating so this will hopefully help me get back on track. I just need to remind myself to not reward myself with shopping everytime I get off the wagon. haha!

Know exactly what your buying

I'm reading a section of my book about the nutrient/health claims on food. This is all from http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/ hopefully it will help you also pick the more healthly version of foods you eat.

 Nutrient Content Claims

The regulations also spell out what terms may be used to describe the level of a nutrient in a food and how they can be used. These are the core terms:

  • Free. This term means that a product contains no amount of, or only trivial or "physiologically inconsequential" amounts of, one or more of these components: fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, sodium, sugars, and calories. For example, "calorie-free" means fewer than 5 calories per serving, and "sugar-free" and "fat-free" both mean less than 0.5 g per serving. Synonyms for "free" include "without," "no" and "zero." A synonym for fat-free milk is "skim".
  • Low. This term can be used on foods that can be eaten frequently without exceeding dietary guidelines for one or more of these components: fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, sodium, and calories. Thus, descriptors are defined as follows:
    • low-fat: 3 g or less per serving
    • low-saturated fat: 1 g or less per serving
    • low-sodium: 140 mg or less per serving
    • very low sodium: 35 mg or less per serving
    • low-cholesterol: 20 mg or less and 2 g or less of saturated fat per serving
    • low-calorie: 40 calories or less per serving.

Synonyms for low include "little," "few," "low source of," and "contains a small amount of."

  • Lean and extra lean. These terms can be used to describe the fat content of meat, poultry, seafood, and game meats.
    • lean: less than 10 g fat, 4.5 g or less saturated fat, and less than 95 mg cholesterol per serving and per 100 g.
    • extra lean: less than 5 g fat, less than 2 g saturated fat, and less than 95 mg cholesterol per serving and per 100 g.
  • High. This term can be used if the food contains 20 percent or more of the Daily Value for a particular nutrient in a serving.
  • Good source. This term means that one serving of a food contains 10 to 19 percent of the Daily Value for a particular nutrient.
  • Reduced. This term means that a nutritionally altered product contains at least 25 percent less of a nutrient or of calories than the regular, or reference, product. However, a reduced claim can't be made on a product if its reference food already meets the requirement for a "low" claim.
  • Less. This term means that a food, whether altered or not, contains 25 percent less of a nutrient or of calories than the reference food. For example, pretzels that have 25 percent less fat than potato chips could carry a "less" claim. "Fewer" is an acceptable synonym.
  • Light. This descriptor can mean two things:
    • First, that a nutritionally altered product contains one-third fewer calories or half the fat of the reference food. If the food derives 50 percent or more of its calories from fat, the reduction must be 50 percent of the fat.
    • Second, that the sodium content of a low-calorie, low-fat food has been reduced by 50 percent. In addition, "light in sodium" may be used on food in which the sodium content has been reduced by at least 50 percent.

The term "light" still can be used to describe such properties as texture and color, as long as the label explains the intent--for example, "light brown sugar" and "light and fluffy."

  • More. This term means that a serving of food, whether altered or not, contains a nutrient that is at least 10 percent of the Daily Value more than the reference food. The 10 percent of Daily Value also applies to "fortified," "enriched" and "added" "extra and plus" claims, but in those cases, the food must be altered

Rock band addiction

So this weekend I got the DH Rock Band 2 for his Birthday. We stayed up until 3:30 playing it. And I also ordered an ellipitical from HSN. Mizzoumama was telling me about a treadmill she is getting from there. And frankly I have just stayed away from HSN because I have a shopping problem. I had no clue they had a website you could buy things from as silly as it sounds. So hopefully the begining of November I will have a sweet ellipitcal sitting in our garage! After I finish writing this I'm going out to the garage to work on making room for it.

My eating has been okay this weekend. I ate a gross chilli dog and made a crock pot of chilli today. So needless to say my guts hate me. I've been reading my First Place 4 Health members guide more this weekend. I love it because all the info and tips in it have been backed up by the National Weight Registry and Gov agencies. I think most of the info is based on people who lost 30lbs or more and kept it off for over a year or more. I'll post some stuff out of the book tomorrow. I'm off to clean the garage!

Fiber 101:

Soluble Fiber vs Insoluble Fiber

Benefits of Fiber

We all know the benefits of fiber! Fiber not only promotes health, it also help reduce the risk for some chronic diseases. For instance, fiber prevents constipation, hemorrhoids and diverticulosis. Fiber is also linked to prevent some cancers especially colon and breast cancer. In addition, fiber may help lower the LDL cholesterol (the Bad cholesterol) and the total cholesterol therefore reducing the risk of heart disease. Furthermore, fiber can help lower blood sugar therefore help better manage diabetes.

Types of Fiber: Soluble Fiber and Insoluble Fiber

Both soluble and insoluble fiber are undigested. They are therefore not absorbed into the bloodstream. Instead of being used for energy, fiber is excreted from our bodies. Soluble fiber forms a gel when mixed with liquid, while insoluble fiber does not. Insoluble fiber passes through our intestines largely intact.

    Insoluble Fiber

Functions of Insoluble Fiber

  • move bulk through the intestines
  • control and balance the pH (acidity) in the intestines

     Benefits of Insoluble Fiber

  • promote regular bowel movement and prevent constipation
  • remove toxic waste through colon in less time
  • help prevent colon cancer by keeping an optimal pH in intestines to prevent microbes from producing cancerous substances

    Food Sources of Insoluble Fiber

  • Vegetables such as green beans and dark green leafy vegetables
  • Fruit skins and root vegetable skins
  • Whole-wheat products
  • Wheat oat
  • Corn bran
  • Seeds & Nuts
         Soluble Fiber
  • Functions of Soluble Fiber

  • bind with fatty acids
  • prolong stomach emptying time so that sugar is released and absorbed more slowly

    Benefits of Soluble Fiber

  • lower total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol (the Bad cholesterol) therefore reducing the risk of heart disease
  • regulate blood sugar for people with diabetes

    Food Sources of Soluble Fiber

  • Dried beans and peas
  • Fruits such as oranges and apples
  • Vegetables such as carrots
  • Soluble Fiber Insoluble FiberKey Message: An average diet contains 75%:25% insoluble fiber: soluble fiber. When making a food choice decision, don't worry about choosing a specific type of fiber. Many foods such as oat, oat brans, psyllium husk and flax seed are rich in both insoluble and soluble fiber. Eating enough fiber is more important! The recommended intake of fiber is 25g per day. If you eat at least 5 servings of fruits & vegetables as well as at least 6 servings of grain products per day (at least 3 of which are whole grains), you are very likely meeting the fiber requirements.

The rest of mayo clinic website on food and nutrition is great. This  info was from the Jenny Craig email I just got. Enjoy!

    5 days and 4.6lbs later

So 5 days of really buckling down I am in the 200's not the 210's! That means I have already meet my mini goal for the month! Being ahead of schedule feels great! I have actually created a spread sheet to keep track of my daily weight and food intake. As for exercise I took a 3 brisks walks this week. Each one is a mile each. For motivation I just kept thinking about how I want my spare tire gone haha! It seriously screws up my day everyday. I plan my wardrobe around it literally.

I'm trying to get the map my run to work but it's not working? So I went to google maps and they have an option for walking and walking to the end of my street is .5 miles exactly!

The DH is working tomorrow which is nice because 1. it's overtime and 2. I won't have to watch him snacking here all day!

More to come once the DS takes a nap!

    I found my chin!!!

This was my drivers license photo from 12/01 I had to be in the 250's? or high 240's. What is funny I didn't change my weight on it so it says 170! HAHA ! The 2008 photo I was about 215? it's amazing how much my face has thinned out. Now I just have to work on thinning the rest out. On 12/01 I'm going to take another picture just to see.

Fatty Facts on what you drink

I'm going to start doing a "Fatty Facts" for the day. Sorry if the word fatty bothers you but hey it's no secret that I'm actually a fatty and I since I like to sit on my big fat fatty and find out as much info as I can and not eat the pumpkin cookies in the kitchen you are all going to have to deal with it.

These are facts from the website of the Green tea capsule I'm taking if you want more info on capsule just message me I'm not using it for weight loss just a pick me up since I'm not drinking sugar loaded coffee now.

Cutting out coffee will help you lose weight

Besides all the other terrible things coffee does to your body one cup of coffee, first thing in the morning, raises your cortisol levels for the whole day.

If you do nothing else but remove coffee from your diet you'll lose about ten pounds in two months. And that's not even considering the sugar and the half and half you add to it.

If you replace coffee with Green Tea not only will you get all kinds of great antioxidant benefits but you'll also get a cupful of things called catechin polyphenols which, amongst other things seem to help the body burn calories

Even diet soda can be deadly to your diet

Liquid calories don't trip our satiety mechanism...they don't make us feel full. So we keep on drinking them and don't see them in the same way we do food. We always think about overeating– never overdrinking but liquid, especially soft drinks, can have a lot of calories. There are approximately nine packages of sugar and close to 150 calories in one 12-oz can of soda or juice! Smoothies and coffee drinks can have anywhere from 250 to 500 calories! And that's excluding the whipped cream. If a person who drinks 3 cans of soda per day stops drinking soda all together, that person will lose about 7 pounds in six months just from not drinking soda.

Diet soda's can be even worse, We see the word diet and think it means that it contains no calories and we just keep drinking. Couple that with a standard starvation diet that usually accompanied diet soda (you are on a diet of course so that means starvation ) and before you know it you've downed a couple of hundred calories a day while your depriving yourself of real nourishment.

Generally, overweight people do not have enough liquids in their diet

The body needs at least eight cups of liquids each day to maintain basic functions Excess liquid is used to break down fats. Without the daily minimum of water, the body has difficulty breaking down the fats in the diet. Ten to twelve cups of water can quite literally flush fats from the body.

    Turn it off!!!!!!!

Why do I have music playing I had a couple tabs open and I was like what the crap is going on?!?! I had to put my comp on mute.

Since they've changed the site do they just add random tracks on your page every now and then?

I'm going to weigh here in a little bit.... Thursday's are our meeting times for First Place and we weigh in during the  evening but I think I'll just do it in the morning and compare it to the evening weigh in and take which ever is better for the day :).

    Crispy Chicken Crystal Skulls

Okay so tonight was kind of weird the DH wanted to get chilli from wendy's so we could have chilli spaghetti. I had whole wheat pasta and light garlic toast so no problem right? Wrong Chilli ghetti is seriously my weakness. If we had a skyline chilli near us I would probably live there. I used to eat their blk beans and rice over ghetti and cheese like it was my last meal.

Back on the topic I told him just to get what he wants and get me a salad and a small unsweetened tea (Look I can have a treat before I was drinking a pitcher of tea a day!). When he brings it home he got the salad and fat free dressing right but the chicken wasn't grilled it was crispy and he forgot my tea so he stopped at Micky D's and got me a large sweet tea!!! Needless to say I went for a longgggggg walk tonight! Which felt great!

After my walk I ended up going and getting the new Indiana Jones movie and stopping at CVS for nips coffee flavored yum!, birthday card, and some more green tea capsules. They seem to be doing the trick so I thought I would actually buy a pack since the ones I got before were a freebie.

We sat down and watched the movie he asked for ice cream but it was almost 8 at first I said no and then I was like you can have ice cream if you eat a serving size and these words came out of his mouth "Can you just get me two apples?" He doesn't know how happy that made me!

I've been thinking lately(the past few days) that I'm going to somehow come up with the money next month and I'm going to get the elliptical he wants at Dicks. It will be our early Christmas gift. We looked last weekend and found one that was marked down from 1000 so it's on sale and nice.  Now I just need to look on their website for consumer reviews. I looked at the ones at Wal-mart but it seemed a lot of people complained about the gold's gym ones?

Okay I'm off to bed. See you girls this morning and oh yea what's up with all the page views and no comments? You can't hate me yet I've only been back a few days! BAHAHAHA!

    Buying diet pills from criminals

Has anyone used the GNC brand weight loss aids? Or know anyone that has or is currently taking? I really need something for energy winter is coming and I get lazy ha-ha well I get lazier!

I was looking at their(GNC) website last night and noticed that they are carrying Fastin now. I bought some off eBay last Jan before I started on here. It's supposed to be like no rx Adipex/Phetermine. I bought it and then found out the person I bought it from had just got out of prison.(I took his name from the email he sent and just did a search and found loads of stuff even his gross mugshot) For some reason I wanted to research more this person. He ran a health food store in NY I guess he was selling some kind of fake yellow jackets I can't remember but all I know is they had bogus packaging and were selling something else. I read the news stories and at his home there were guns and other illegal drugs. But what was I going to do this guy had my address so I got the shipment and everything checked out it was the real product. I even contacted Hi-tech pharm who makes the pill and let me tell you after I started researching them apparently one of the owners was being investigated by the FBI or DEA something along those lines and they threatened his family so bad that his wife committed suicide. Horrible right? I don’t know exactly why the owner was being investigated but you can probably assume someone took too much of a diet pill and died. The guy I got the pill from online had a great eBay rating but I went to check on him and he's not doing anything on there anymore maybe he's in jail? He was(still is?) actually apart of a website I have seen advertise on here. So amazing how much info I found out off of one little diet pill right?

As for the Fastin, which I'm sure most have you seen advertise on here. I took it tell it was gone(And Hi-tech let me know how to check if it was their product) and maybe lost 10lbs in a month but that was watching what I ate and walking too. I couldn't take two pills at once because it would give me a headache and I probably wouldn't buy them again I really don't need an appetite suppressant just more of a energy boost.
