My Fabulous Find....I absolutely love this stuff. <----- That's the link over there. I have boycotted pedicures due to rising costs of everything in this world. I started using it a couple of weeks ago and it has been the best $2.99 I have spent in - I don't know how long. No scrubbing or buffing needed. I just put it on before I go to bed and ta-dah!!!! If you decide to order - enter "REPFS" to get FREE shipping. $2.99 and FREE SHIPPING!! - and all funds still being donated.
My hubby took the kids camping and they will be gone until Wednesday. I don't know what I am going to do with myself....NOT. I am going to sit here in some peace and quiet. It's always nice for a few days. I just spoke too soon, they are all text messaging me now.... And my house will not be messy.
Today we went to Trade Days. It's actually a Flea Market type thing and I haven't been to this one. Let me tell you....it was HOT. It was 100 degrees outside and the sweat dripping between my boobs can attest to it. One of my girlfriends came and joined us and she walked up and gave me the greatest compliment!! It's fabulous when someone you do not see very often notices your accomplishments, namely your WEIGHTLOSS!!
I made a huge salad for dinner. Kind of a taco salad - with no tortilla chips. It was ok. Not fabulous. No workout - I consider walking around in the 100 degree heat my workout today.
In case any of you were wondering what this is...it's bird shit. Oh yes it is. And obviously, lots of it. You could never tell by looking at this that I cleaned it all off this a.m. before leaving for work. I just got home and this is what it looks like now!! There is a nest up higher and there are about 3 babies up there. They should be attempting any day now to take flight.
Kind of sucks, though. Birds start committing suicide. They get a 50-50 shot at survival at this deal. Either you jump and take flight or you jump and fall to your death. Now that I think about it, it could sound a lot like weight loss.....
So here is today's drama (other than the bird shit). Actually started late last night around 11:30. I check my email and a client whose hair I have been doing for 3 years sends me an email and asks, "I am getting married tomorrow, can you come by my house in the morning and do my hair? You can stay for the wedding." hhhhmmmm let me think about that....."No." She gets pretty upset and explains to me how important it is that I do her hair and yada-yada.
Me, "I understand your frustration, really I do. But I have commitments to the people whose hair I will be doing tomorrow. I just do not honestly feel I can do this for you. Would you like me to make some calls and see if I can find someone to do your hair?"
her: "No. If you don't come and do my hair - you will not be doing my hair ever again. I need you to understand that."
me, "That will be fine. I will be happy to give you some referrals of stylists in your area that may be able to help you. But, since you felt the need to be pretty honest, I can't help but do the same. If your hair was important to you as you say it is - why wouldn't you call earlier than 6 1/2 hours before you need me to be there to do you and your bridesmaids hair?"
her: "We are no longer friends."
WTF???? Did I just hear her? Is she loony? That's nuts. For eff's sake, if we were friends, I would have been invited to the wedding. We are friends because you wanted me to do your hair for FREE and at the expense of all my other clients.
me, "that will be fine with me. Friendships are only that when they are mutual. Not one-way and they are not reciprocated. I hope your wedding is beautiful and best wishes."
Have a great on-plan weekend and be well....I'm thinking I will go watch a video....
Holy shizzle-my-fizzle....Look at what I can do!!!!
I have but one word for you...... B-A-S-I-L!! How exciting, I know. But, you have to start somewhere.I also have little baby tomatoes!! I wanted to see if I could grow something and I have. I have 23 inches of basil!!! So, big question now is: do I take a leaf off and chop it off to use it? or do I let it dry out and then chop it up? hhhmmmm...I am sure I just use it fresh, right?
So my hubby took the dead trees back to Lowe's to get new one's. Guess what? He got Regular pear trees instead of the Bradford Pear Trees. In case any of you do not know this, Bradford Pear trees are fruitless. They are a flowering tree and then the flowering part falls off and you have a great shade tree each year. My hubby, in all of his amazing splendor, just got pear trees, not realizing any difference. Well, we are going to be having pears at every meal when these suckers start producing fruit.
blech....I don't even like pears. Oh well, he tried and I love him all the more for it....
For any of you that use Mineral make-up...please check out the link below where you can get the 2 for $10 through AVON. 2 foundations for $10!! or you can mix and match. This stuff is just as good as other name stuff - I would not tell you it was if it wasn't. Just a heck of a better price!!
Got up, lounged a little bit with coffee (30 minutes or so) got ready for work, went to work, home, then did my 2 mile walk. Doing pretty well with my walking, staying consistent. Tonight was a little cooler and it started sprinkling...but I went anyway. (Thanks GCQmom - you inspired me as well!!)
What a non-spectacular day, eh?
Kids are out of school, as well as hubby not teaching any school, and my house is a mess!!!
What the H-E-L-L?? It drives me nuts. I just cleaned it up spotless yesterday. I left the house and it was still spotless. I come home from standing on my legs (which is not always easy because of the load they are carrying) and my house is a disaster!!!
I looked at my hubby and my children and kindly explained to them that there is no way I am going to work all day and come home and clean up after them. God has blessed them all with arms and legs and they need to use them to clean up after themselves. There is no way this will happen all summer. For the love of tiny, baby Jesus!! I thought I was kind in my explanation. Let's see how this plays out....
Well, they are all in the living room and kitchen cleaning....and now I hear the vacuum cleaner being turned on.....
hhhhhhhmmmmm
Just received my new Oxygen and WW magazines in the mail today.... I love getting my magazines....almost like Christmas....
I am off of here to go check in on you guys. Have a great evening!!
How's it going lovely EP people? Hope you are all having a great weekend.
I just got home from work. Not a lot going on there, either. Graduation and those sort of things going on so it was busy earlier in the day and then got slow by about 4 p.m.
Oh, of course there was one individual who returned with her daughter because she decided she wanted her daughter's hair cut shorter. Well, that is just an odd situation. You cut the hair exactly the way they ask for it to begin with and then they decide they want it shorter. So, as far as technical skill, there is nothing wrong with it - you just want it shorter? (Mind you, 1/2 inch shorter) - measure that with a ruler and tell me how much you notice that. So, technically, I should charge you for a 2nd haircut. No, I didn't. I just cut it and be done with it. It's a $5.00 haircut and she drove 30 miles from here to return. What? with the price of gas you could have honestly taken her to the hair salon 3 miles from your house and save 60 miles round-trip. She never comes to our salon and will not return because she has been going to the same hairstylist since 1998. Don't know why she didn't go to her today....but, oh well. I definitely had the time to spare and a little bit of kindness goes a long way.
Just and FYI - the AVON Mineral make-up is 2 for $10!! Yowza. You can mix-n-match eyeshadows and the foundation and/or the blush. I am sooooo stocking up on that stuff right now!! This sale will end 1 week from tomorrow (Sunday). The foundation Mineral make-up is regular $10.If you want it, remember to use "REPFS" to get free shipping - at checkout.
I went and seen the Zohan movie last night. It has Adam Sandler in it. I just had to - it's about a hairstylist. Well, I should've waited for DVD. It wasn't that great, I actually got up and left early. It had its funny moments but it was just 'dragging on' and I didn't want to sit through it anymore.
So here is my poll question:
Would you be upset/perturbed if your boss volunteered you to work at another location 20 miles away without speaking with you first?
Here is my situation:
I get to work today and my boss tells me, "Hey - Cathy needed someone to work at the Custer location and I told her you would be there tomorrow."
You did what? Why would you do that? I don't work there and it would have been nice to have been asked. And the other downside to this entire thing is this....I am not getting paid to work there. Yes, folks you read that right and I am so ticked off by it all. I get paid commission or by the hour. Obviously, commission is higher in this industry - no one wants to work for $5.85 per hour. So, by going to this other store in bum-fuck-Egypt, I am taking a hit on my pocketbook, my gas tank, and my personal-stinking INCONVENIENCE!!
Hope everyone is having a fabulous day. Hope you like the tune above. I like the beat....it's kind of fun...
Went to Lowe's and looked at a couple of trees. AND, I got asked out on a date. Oh yes. I'm standing there, checking out the Bradford Pear Trees in all of their glory. Looking at them up and down and for any nicks and worms. (the trees, not the man) Man walks up and offers his assistance and in less than 5 minutes later he told me I had nice arms, great hair, and would I like to go have coffee sometime? (Man, I am so glad I have been working out my arms)
Uh, what?? You talking to me? (no, I didn't say that..)
And I felt flattered. I don't think there was anything wrong with that. I tell my husband...and you know what that ass hole says? "Did he act normal?" (God Bless his little heart....)
What do you mean? There has to be something wrong with him before he would ask me out?
"No, that's not what I am saying. Men don't just ask a woman out when she is looking at trees and has 3 kids with her."
hmf. Well, honey bunny, today he just got farther than you did TONIGHT!!That's right, I am holding the hoo-ha hostage until I get a formal apology!!
aaacccccccccccccccccckkkkkkkkkkkkk...
Did my walk today for 3 miles and now I'm going to go workout my arms now....so I can Body slam my husband into the wall...
Todays' workouts: I walked 3 miles at a brisk pace, stayed within 74-84% heart rate, then got home and jumped on the bicycle and did 2.25 miles briskly. Not going to do weights tonight. Gonna give my arms a break. Will work my core instead.
I am working pretty hard on cardio this week. I need to. It makes me feel better. I can build muscle pretty quick so I am not doing a lot of leg work with the weights. Just toning work with lunges and squats, etc. On my upper body, I like to be a little more muscular - I like to get the definition in my arms so I will continue to work with weights.
I made some yummy Corn and Black Bean Salsa. For all of you WW's, it is ZERO points for a 1/4 cup. Full of protein and a vegetable. AND it is super easy to make!!
Here's the recipe for any of you who may be interested:
1 - 15 ounce can of black beans, rinsed and drained
1 small bag of frozen car, thawed
1/2 cup chopped red bell pepper
1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
3 green onions, thinly sliced
3 tablespoons lemon or lime juice
2 tablespoons Balsamic Dressing
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon salt
Combine all ingredients. Serve immediately, chilled. You can store it for 3 days in an airtight, sealed container. Tastes so good on these hot summer days. I serve it as a vegetable at dinner and the next day for a snack, I measure out my tortilla chips and have a 1/4 cup serving of the salsa....makes a great snack!! (Recipe taken from one of my WW books - 15 minutes - i changed up a couple of the ingredients...I like it better...)
So, everyone stay the course and fight the fight....
~~Get those little minds out of the gutter....we'll get to that in a minute...~~
Today was H.O.T. in this great area of Texas!! I don't care what the calender says...It's SUMMER, folks!! (I love it!!)
Todays workouts: walked close to 2.5 miles and then biked another 3 miles. Came inside (by now I am already sweating) and did Super Body Sculpt...feel the bbbbbbbbbbuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrnnnnnnnnnnnn!!
During my walking, excluding the warm-up, I kept my HR between 74-79%. I normally do not wear my HR monitor when I walk but, decided I would do it today because I do not want to be 'taking a stroll' when I am walking to burn fat and have better cardiovascular health. You know, 74-79% really isn't that hard. Not as hard as I thought it would be, anyways. Did the same thing when I was on the bicycle, kept track of my HR and stayed in the 'zone.'
For the last couple of days, I have been doing my exercises interval training. Back-to-back with no rest between. It honestly isn't taking long and I am burning some serious calories. Today was close to 800 calories and a little over an hour.
Oh, and I am loving some cantaloupe right now. Man, after sweating like a "whore in church" and then cramming that yummy cold fruit in my mouth...it is pure....orgasmic, almost.
I know, I know, not exactly what you were hoping for....
Yesterday's workout:3 mile bicycle ride and Super Body Sculpt. I did increase the weights by 2 lbs for all upper body exercises. I highly recommend this to all of you who workout with weights. I pushed my muscles. My arms (biceps/triceps) have not been sore in a long time. Today I woke up and they are sore!!! yeah, baby!!
Today's workout: walked/jogged 2/5 miles. Interval training. Rode bicycle for 3.5 miles. Crunches with stability ball upper & lower abdominals. I did get sunburned from my interval training & bicycle ride. Did them back-to-back to keep the heart rate up.
Not too shabby. Eating was completely on-plan and I have stayed under points. I have to stay focused or I will fall into my spring/summer rut!! I am going to have the WW Fudge bar while I go sit in the bathtub. With candles and my Fudge bar.....how romantic.....hey, we all have our vices.
So, about my rut....I figure if I keep shaking things up and doing different activities, I will not got bored and stuck and just fall out of my weight loss routine. Nor do I want to do too much and get burned out.
I made homemade salsa tonight. It was really yummy. My hubby and the kids all sat down and ate every stinking bit of it. Let me go ahead and throw in there that it was 4.5 cups. Yes, they sat down and ate every bit of it. You know how I was talking about how I had gone to the Farmer's Market and bought some produce?...well, there it was. They definitely prefer the real stuff to the jar stuff.
So, on to my WW Fudge bar and my bubble bath with candles....don't hate!!
Here is the websiteand don't forget to enter "REPFS" to get free shipping!! And...all profits still being donated to the two girls to go to 'camp' this summer!!
