Feeling Blue

So as of September 11th 2007, hubby and I have been food optimising on the Slimming World plan. Don't get me wrong, it's worked a treat and between us we have lost nearly 4 stone since then. Not too shabby, I say.

BUT.....

I don't feel like I look any different. I still feel like the frumpy overweight girl I was when I joined. Yes, my clothes either fit better or are too big. Yes, the scales tell me I'm 1st 10lbs lighter than I was. Yes, other people are noticing. But I don't feel sexier, or prettier.

What I want to know is, when that will happen. There's a girl at work, who looks awful because she is so thin. Thin's the wrong word, she's skinny. And I know I don't want to look like her, coz she looks freaky, but she doesn't see it. I don't want to get to that stage, but I do wonder if I will ever be happy with the weight I am.

As you will notice, my target is 9st. However my SW consultant has put my target to 9st 7lbs, and I always said I would see how I feel when I got there. But I know that I won't be happy at 9st 7lbs, which is why I have put 9st. But what if I'm not happy when I get there? Maybe I should change my target to 8st 10lbs? What do you think? It's not like I'd be underweight if I did, I mean I'm only 5ft 1in. In fact, according to the ideal weight guides, my weight should be no more than 9st 2lbs.

Advice

You are doing so well!  Congratulations!!

I hope you don't mind some advice?

1. your healthy weight range is a guide only and depending on your body shape and muscle content you may be healthiest at a higher weight.  Wait and see how you feel at 9st 7.  Then take it a few pounds at a time.

2. Your image of yourself.  Do you have 'before' photos?  Try really looking at them and at yourself.  Did you take measurements?  Again look at the difference in the numbers, look at them in a way you can relate to them.  Go to the supermarket and look at 24lbs of something.  Picture it back on your body.  Imagine carrying it around.  Another thing you may think about is what 'fat' and 'slim' actually mean to you.  Does slim mean pretty and sexy etc?  Maybe you need to find a way to feel sexy or whatever it is so you feel slimmer.  It doesn't have to cost anything.  Go to a big department store on a weekday morning and select a quiet makeup counter.  Tell them you have lost weight and would love to see how you look with new makeup.  If you can't afford to buy tell them.  Chances are they will make you up anyway.  (I used to do this as a university student).

I hope I have helped a little.

I agree!

Look at the pictures before you lost weight! Heck even try on some of your clothes that are too big! Go get yourself a mani/pedi or even a massage. You are gorgeous honey! FACE IT!

what you need is...

... a whole new wardrobe. wish i could come with you and help. its the best part of losing weight. so you dont feel pretty (which for the record your most definitely are!!) and you dont feel sexy (i wudnt know, ill have to ask your OH)... plan a quiet night in for you and your man... go out and get your hair done and buy some really nice lingerie, some heels... candles... music... OHs favourite meal on the table... youll be feeling sexy in no time....

1 stone 1o lbs lighter than when you started is pretty good going if you ask me. x
