Feeling much better!
The massage this afternoon definitely helped me. Oh, I was so sore, that I was almost in tears at some points in the massage but I knew it was what I needed. I felt good enough to go to the 6 pm crossfit class. However, I almost threw up a few times in the workout! I had eaten a delicious (at my favorite restaurant), but big meal about 90 minutes before the workout. So, in the middle of the crazy intense workout I had to rest otherwise I would have had everything come up.
The workout today was: Front Squats for 12 rep max, at 105 lbs. Then, 800 m run, 150 wallballs, 800 m run. Wow, that was a tough one! The first run was fine, I felt strong and came in before everyone else. Then those stupid wallballs started, hell! Using a 14 lb medicine ball you have to go into a deep squat then as you rise toss the med ball up past a 8 foot mark on the wall. (guys had to reach a 10 ft target using a 20 lb ball) These completely sucked! I first did 20, then that dropped to 10 at a time, then 5 at a time. It was during these wallballs that not only did I feel like throwing up but also mentally messed with me. I wanted to give up so many times, just throw that darn ball, lay on the floor and quit. I haven't had one of these mental workouts in a long time. But I didn't quit. That last 800 m run was more like a waddle, my legs did not want to move! I guess this was my mental push and preparation for my marathon in April.
I'm home now, resting. Not hungry after that big lunch. Plus, my lunch was about 6 blocks anyway and with a 3 block breakfast, I've already eaten my 9 blocks for the day. I guess this will begin a session of
Intermittent Fasting. I'll have my next meal after my first run. Depending on when I wake up that would give me about 16-20 hours of fasting.
Tomorrow: No Crossfit, do 2 running workouts, 9 blocks paleo

so far so good
The past two days (Tues/Wed), my diet has been great, sticking to paleo choices and 9 blocks. However, I've been having pretty annoying headaches. I'm sure it's from my body detoxing from a week of alcohol and eating crappy food. Plus my body is still so sore, I'm just not recovering from my workouts well. I can't wait until I'm feeling completely back to normal.
Breakfast today: 9:30 am
3 oz steak, 1 small apple, 3 tbsp avocado, 1.5 cups swiss chard/onions/zucchini, 1 tsp fish oil
Oh, and below is a video of "Annie" the workout I did yesterday. My time: 9:27, I gotta work on my double unders! Goal for next time is 8:30.

Hit by a truck!
That is exactly how I feel right now! How did this come about? It all started on Wednesday night.
I took off to Miami to teach and spend some time with two friends who met me there. And that started a week of drinking and eating everything in sight. I really made myself sick. And it wasn't the alcohol, I never got really tipsy, just some glasses of wine. But of course when I drink, I eat without reserve. Plus the two friends I met up with eat a lot, and eat crappy. I know this is an issue I need to resolve... Being able to stay on track with eating when I'm not in my own environment. For some meals I was able to do so, but it was usually dinner when I overdosed on ice cream, desserts and other items.
I did get to workout once at I Am Crossfit in Doral, FL. Great gym, nice people, good programming for that day. However, that was the only time I worked out! Yes I could have done my own crossfit workouts and catch up on my running, but I didn't. I let everyone elses schedule dictate mine. I had brought a bunch of workout clothes, my running shoes, even my garmin, but I didn't even run!
So, that brings me to yesterday... I got back into town and went to Crossfit at 6 pm. Our workout was Power Snatches, then a metcon of Deadlifts (150 lbs), box jumps and pull ups. Reps were 21-15-9. After a week of not working out and eating very inflammatory foods I now feel like crap!!
Then I went to Crossfit again today. Good thing it was light shoulder presses, not too bad. Then "Annie," which is 50-40-30-20-10 of Double unders and sit ups. The workout itself wasn't so bad, but when I finished and tried to stretch my body would not listen and I know I need some rest. Depending on how I feel tomorrow, I don't know if I'll workout. But I do have a Massage scheduled!!
I'm using this blog to keep me accountable and help me stay on track with my eating. It's not the working out that is an issue, it's sticking to a clean paleo lifestyle.
I'm starting out at 135.4 lbs, and 25.9 % body fat. My goal for the rest of this week is to: Get in 4 crossfit workouts and 4 endurance workouts, stick to paleo food choices at 9 blocks for the next two days, then use Saturday as a non-zone paleo day.
