Exercise
This morning my son and I went to waterbabies, and he really seemed to enjoy it. We did a few dunkings and he was his usual stoic self, no crying. Other than that I didn't get any exercise today, or yesterday for that matter. The days not over yet, so maybe I will try to go squeeze in an Aquafit class. There's one at 8:15.
I took my son into the office today for an office party. They had a whole table full of food that I shouldn't have eaten but I did. I had crackers and cheese, pineapple, strawberries and grapes, and three cookies. It wasn't very much food at all, but when I roughly total up the calories, it was probably around 500-600! When I left, I didn't feel like I had eaten at all. So although I didn't feel like I had eaten, that became my lunch.
Well I'll sign off, I'm off to the gym, my husband just agreed to watch our son. :)

A good day
So today is looking like a good day so far. I've had a bowl of cereal, at around 9:00. Now I'm having an apple, and a Danone Smoothie (80 cals) for a snack. My son is napping right now, which is why I have the time to have my snack and post right now.
I'm planning on having lunch at around 1:30. Then Ryan and I are going to Mommy and me time at the Library. We're going to learn baby signs today, which I'm really excited about. I think after that we're going to go for an hour long walk, unless the rain that's threatening decides to come. If that happens, I'll probably do an exercise tape.
But the best news of all, my son said his first word yesterday! Then said it again twice today ...and it was mum! :D

Weigh In
So I weighed in last night, and it wasn't as bad as I had feared. I'm down 0.4 lbs. I'm pretty happy with that because it wasn't a gain, and I stayed out of the 220's. :)
My weigh in for next week was canceled since it's a Holiday Monday. That means I now have 2 weeks until my next official weigh in. I 'm going to use this as a motive to lose twice the weight, and hopefully be down 4-5 lbs for my next weigh in.
Well, I'm off to go swimming with my son. It looks like it's going to be a beautiful day, so I'm going to go enjoy it. I hope all of you do too.

Happy Mother's Day
So yesterday was a pretty bad day for me diet wise, but pretty good otherwise. It was not only Mother's Day for me, it was also my First Wedding Anniversary. :)
I got breakfast in bed, a big lunch, dinner out, and wine and a piece of our wedding cake when we got home. We had saved some of our wedding cake and frozen it, to have on our first anniversary. It wasn't too bad for cake that was a year old! The icing tasted a bit stale, but I scraped most of that off anyway.
Anyway, today I'm back on the wagon, and I've eaten well all day. My weigh in is tonight, and I'm not looking forward to it. :) Most weeks having my weigh in on a Monday, helps keep me from over indulging on the weekends. On weeks like this, when I want to celebrate, I wish that it was even a day or two later,. Then I could have the time to work that sugar and salt out of my system. I've also got TOM over right now, so that's even more fun!
The scale awaits, in all it's digital glory!

Weigh In
So I did my weigh in tonight and I was down, but only 0.4 lbs. It was a little disappointing, but at the same time, it's not like I was vigilant about my diet this week. We had a BBQ on Saturday, and I ate alot AND had 3 glasses of wine. :) I had hoped that all my exercise this week would make up for it I guess. That didn't really work out. At least I lost weight, and I didn't creep back up into the 220's.
Oh well. A brand new week awaits me, all fresh and new. :)

Walking - Doubling Calorie burn
So, I think I've mentioned that I want to start walking more. Well, I've mapped out a few routes around my neighbourhood, and checked the length with my car odometer. On any given day, I'm walking between 4 and 7 km, depending on which route I take. Yesterday, I did about 6 km, and it was a beautiful day. I wore a tank top and capris, which I realized last night helped me get a sunburn. It's not too bad though.
So what I've been doing is listening to my MP3 player while I walk. It just so happens that my route and my playlist correspond pretty accurately with the recommendations in this article. I switch up my songs; usually one slow, one fast, then fastest, and the terrain switches between uphill, flat and downhill. So I'm feeling pretty good about my plan so far. Hopefully the scale will show the difference.

Weigh In
So I went to my weekly TOPS meeting, and I'm down 1.6 lbs! :) I'm excited to keep going this week. I've got lots of stuff to keep me busy. I'm having people over on Saturday for a BBQ, so I want to make sure the house is in tip top shape, and maybe try to do some work in the backyard.
I'm going to the Mall tomorrow to meet 2 other moms for lunch and a movie. They have a stars and strollers thing so I can bring my son with me. I'm excited it will be the first movie I've seen a theatre in a long time.

Exercising
So, I've made a pact with myself. I'm going to exercise for at least 30 minutes a day. I'm going to try for more, but at least 30 minutes daily.
So yesterday, I decided to go for a walk with my son in his stroller, while my husband was sleeping in. (Yes he has weird work schedules). So I threw my son in the stroller, strapped on my mp3 player, and started walking. By 10 minutes into the walk my son was asleep. So, I walked, and I walked and I walked some more. The music was so good, that I just kept walking, I even walked right past my house, because one of my favourite songs was on, and I wanted to finish listening to it. :) I didn't time myself, but I do know I was walking for over an hour. Today I went for another walk, but not as long. It started to drizzle, so I cut it short from yesterday's. When I got home, I decided to hop in my car, and use my odometer to follow my route and see how far I walked. Yesterday, I did 7 km, and today I walked 4 km! Not too shabby. :)
My husband is renovating our bathroom right now, so I have no access to a shower. I asked him to watch our son, while I went to the rec centre to use the showers there. I figured that since I was going to go pay to use the shower, I might as well work out too. I did 20 mins on the bicycle, 12 on the elliptical and about 8 mins on the treadmill . I just wanted to try out the machines, the gym was practically empty, it was just me and 2 other women. It was a good day to orient myself.
Now I don't feel so bad about eating that chocolate bar today. :P

How often should you weigh yourself?
So, I hear on all these tv shows, in weight loss regimens, and read in articles, etc... that weighing yourself more often than once a week, is bad for your self esteem, progress, etc...
Then I see this
"...a group of doctors who studied obese and verweight adults who were trying to lose weight as well as overweight adults who were trying to prevent weight gain found that those who weighed themselves more often lost more weight and prevented more weight gain over two years than those who weighed themselves less frequently."
So does this mean my sometimes obsessive weighing of myself is actually beneficial?

Starting Over
So here I am, at the beginning of my first weight loss post. I have been on a diet (of sorts) since the middle of January. I have lost 10 lbs, most of which came off in February.
I haven't really been sticking to any diet though. I don't plan my meals and I sometimes cheat. I figured I would start myself a blog so I can become more accountable, and hopefully spot any hidden triggers in my life. I'm not much for counting calories, or weighing food, but I am starting to eat healthier, and to watch my portion sizes.
I have a 4.5 month old son, Ryan, who is the light of my life. I've got about 10, pregnancy lbs left to lose, added to the extra 40lbs I already had before I got pregnant. So I've thrown up a couple pictures, and I'm ready to start fresh.
