Before After

reason #4

To keep me motivated, I am going to keep track, and post my 65 Reasons to lose 65 lbs.

I want to buy knee high boots.  For years now, whenever I have gone shopping for shoes, I have had to pass over the boots section.  The only boots I have ever tried on that fit over my fat calves, have been very un-sexy winter boots.  I would love to get a pair of knee high black leather boots with heels.  I yearn for them so, that I still futilely try on boots that look like they might stretch enough. Then sadly I have to put them back on the shelf when they don't.  Or worse if they do zip up, but my sausage calves are spilling out over the top.

Stuff

So today was a pretty good day.  I stuck pretty much to my diet, until tonight with dinner I had a piece of Black Forest Cake for dessert.  I don't feel too badly about it though, and here's why.

It has been in my freezer, for over a month now.  I had a BBQ not too far back, and my husband's aunt had brought us the cake for potluck.  Well even though I tried to send it home with people I ended of with like half a slab leftover.  So I cut it into double portions and I froze them.  I figured that it would help me not to indulge.  If it's frozen I can't have just a sliver (repeatedly!) and if I cut it into double portions, there is just enough for me and my hubby, with no leftovers.  Remarkably this had worked.  I have had cake and banana bread in there for weeks that I haven't touched.

Anyway, today I went to the movies with my son, and we saw Knocked Up.  I thought it was absolutely hilarious!  Although I could have gone without my son testing the limits of his diaper in the middle of the movie. :P  I spent 10 minutes in the bathroom cleaning up!  It was a pretty lazy day, and I didn't get any exercise, but  everyone needs a break now and then.

Weigh In

So I went for my weigh in tonight, and I was only down 0.4 lbs.  I know it directly relates to what I ate this weekend, so I have no one to blame but myself.  I am happy that it was still a loss and not a gain though.  This is my 7th week in a row with a loss!  Some have been big, some have been small, but it's definitely a trend!  I have been trying to lose weight since late January.  I'm 17.4 lbs down in 20 weeks, and although I'm losing slowly it is coming off.

So my goal for this week is to lose between 1 and 2.6 lbs for my next weigh in.  1 lb will bring me down to my pre-pregnancy weight, and even better 2.6 lbs will bring me to 20 lbs lost since January.

Here's something great I realized today.  I ate completely healthy today, and I consumed about 1000 calories less than I did on Saturday.  BUT - today is the day I actually felt full.

Weekends!

So I did not have a very good weekend diet wise.  On Saturday, we went down to the River, and watched my husband participate in a Dragon Boat Race.  It was a long day, we got there around 9:30 in the morning, and didn't leave until around 4:00.  His team took part in 3 races, and they did ok, middle of the pack. :)   They ate quite a bit and took advantage of the beer tent too.   I ate pretty much what my hubby did, minus the beer.  The difference being I hadn't done all the physical activity that he did.  I was pushing my son around  in his stroller, taking pictures, and watching the races.  Afterwards we went back to my husband's boss' house for drinks.  In the interest of full disclosure I had my cereal for breakfast, a nectarine for snack, for lunch I had fries with gravy and a hot dog with ketchup and relish.  Then I had a banana, for dinner I had a chicken wrap (with battered chicken) and Taters.  Yesterday wasn't too much better, although I ate healthy, I over indulged in ice cream and pie.The fact that I didn't come on here all weekend may have been a factor.  I'm going to try to commit to writing in my blog every day, so that I don't decide to "take a day off"  I've just put up a new photo in my album of the 3 of us on Saturday.

Exercise wise the weekend was good, I walked around a lot on Saturday, and on Sunday my husband walked with me and the baby to the grocery store and to blockbuster.  It was about 4 km there and back.

Today is off to a good start.  Multi grain cheerios and skim milk for breakie, a WW tortilla with chicken bacon, fat free cheese, fat free caesar dressing, and a salad on the side. and I'm thinking of having melon and a banana in the afternoon.

My weigh in is tonight, so send me skinny vibes please!

Teething

So, my son has been breaking in a new tooth the last few days.  It's his fourth one, but so far they've all been on the bottom.  The last few days have been hell with a whiny, tired, baby in pain.  A few nights ago he was up every hour crying.  I ended up bringing him into bed with me on Monday night, and hubby went to sleep on the couch.  We're finally out of the woods now, I can feel it this morning, it's broken through!

Anyway, I went to Shrek 3 on Tuesday with a couple other moms.  I ate Chinese food in the food court, and I have no idea how many calories and fat was in it, but it was good!  I also got a small popcorn at the theatre, and only ate half the bag.

I haven't been doing too badly other than that, food wise.  I think understandably I haven't been up to much exercise, with the lack of sleep .  We did go for a walk yesterday, but it was leisurely and relaxed.  We stopped at two parks, and I let my son try the baby swings out.  We were out for about 2 hours.

Well, it's a beautiful day here, so I'm definitely going to get outside and enjoy it!  Thanks everyone for your encouraging posts.  It really does help, and I feel like there are people interested in my progress.  It helps keep me on track to know that there are people that will actually read what I write here. :)

Weigh In

So I went for my official weigh in tonight., and I was down 2.2 lbs!  Yay me! :)

I don't have too much else to say, I just wanted to share.  My hubby is gone to a Dragonboat practice tonight, his race is on Saturday.  So, it's just me and my son for another couple hours.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

Reason #3

To keep me motivated, I am going to keep track, and post my 65 Reasons to lose 65 lbs.

Saving money when I shop for clothes.  Whenever I go shopping for clothes I always end up paying more for the clothes I buy than a friend of a smaller size would for the same outfit.  I especially notice this in stores that sell regular and plus sizes.  The L or XL will  cost say $14.99, and you move up to a 1X, and the cost goes to $19.99.  I know some of that cost is because there is more material, but it just seems so arbitrary.

Bra shopping is worthy of a reason (maybe a few)  all on it's own!

Hey blogosphere,

I hope everyone's doing good on this beautiful Saturday morning (at least in my neck of the woods).  So the past 2 days have been up and down.  My calories have been up, but not drastically so.  I'm still burning more than I'm consuming, it's just not as much of a deficit as I would have liked.  I went out on Thursday, with my TOPS friends to a Karaoke night.  There's a little Provincial Recognition Days conference going on in the town next to mine so I decided to go.  It was pretty fun, there was only about 5 people there I knew, but a couple hundred TOPS in total.  The Karaoke was held in the Hotel ballroom, so it was members only.  I actually got up and sang twice!  Because it wasn't held in a bar, there wasn't any temptation to drink, and there was plenty of water available.  A nice night out.

Last night I was invited to a wine tasting at my local wine-making shop.  I ended up not going, and staying home with hubby and son instead.  My son has been cranky lately and my husband is working alot.  Last night they were both in a good mood, so I decided to enjoy it while it lasted! :)

Today has started off well.  I just finished my breakfast, and I've made plans to go out with a friend and her kids to the park.  It should be a nice day for it.  I'm already thinking of what sandwiches and healthy snacks I can bring.

I have to do the dishes before I leave so I should probably stop procrastinating.  That's my biggest weakness.

Moving my mom

Ugh! So today we went to move my mom.  It was a real hot and muggy day , and I soooo did not want to do it, but we had too.  Anyway, it didn't take us too long, she had done most of the prep work.  but it was just me and my hubby moving her, my mom is overweight too, and has bad knees. I also had my son with me.  He just wasn't feeling well today,  he was slightly feverish, sleepy,  whiny, and cried almost every time he was moved or picked up.  After he fell asleep, we got everything done in about 2 1/2 hours.

Then my mom treated us to lunch at swiss chalet.  I got the 1/4 chicken white meat dinner, but I splurged and got fries with it instead of veggies.  I didn't eat them all, only about half.  That doesn't bother me too much, it was a justifiable splurge that was kept under control.  However, later that afternoon I had two big soft cookies, and a piece of pumpkin pie with dinner.  So, all in all I went over my limit by quite a bit today.  I suppose I probably sweated and burned most of it off during the move, but I'm still disappointed. I was on a roll with my eating and exercise this week.

So I totalled up my dinner last night, and it was about what I thought.  My dinner was (including 1 cup of rice) 539 calories, 12 g of fat, 78 g carbs, and 31 g of protein. With 7.5 g of fibre.
