Quick Update
I thought I'd just leave a quick update, I don't have time for much else. :) Anyway, my son seems to be getting sick, his nose has been running all day, and he doesn't seem to want to go to sleep. He's waking up every 15 minutes crying. Anyway, I've been up and down with my eating this week, but I've been walking every day.
Today I did the Dance Fitness for Beginners DVD. This is the first chance I've gotten since I borrowed them. It was great fun! They basically teach you a Dance routine over the course of the video, breaking it down into the basic moves and segments. There was some Meringue, Cha Cha, and Salsa. I'm going to try out the other one tomorrow, so we'll see how I like that one.
Tomorrow is weigh in, and I'm feeling pretty good about it. I'm almost at my 10% goal.

time passes me by
Here I am blogosphere. I just have too many things to fit into the day right now! I have no idea how I am going to handle things when I go back to work full time in December. Booo-urns. :(
Today was jam packed. I went to the library for baby & me, the post office, insurance co., previous work to visit with my son, visit mom in hospital, and then to visit another friend, who I haven't seen in a while. Got home, walked dog, bathed baby, put to bed, then email, groups, now blog! No wonder I ate out twice today.
Anyway, the visit with my mom at the hospital today went well. She's no longer in isolation, and the treatment that she's getting seems to be helping her get better. I'm being told now that she should most likely be leaving on Tuesday. Although that could change (again!) as the treatment progresses (or not). They were attempting to shrink her cyst non-surgically although asking my mom to explain this was useless. I wish the Doctor had been there to speak to directly. I appear to be maintaining so far this week. We'll see how that changes for the weekend. I may be able to bump it up a notch shortly.
If I can just go on a little tangent for a bit... I love libraries! I can get just about anything I want there for free! Diet books, videos, kids books, children's programming, dvd's for me (I borrowed Music and Lyrics last night to watch with hubby for a cost of $0.50!). Maybe I have been lucky in the places I live, but every city I have ever lived in, the libraries have been a regular stop for me. I'm also an avid reader (somewhat of a speed reader, my husband would say), and I always have a book on the go. I just can't afford that bookstore habit. ;)
On my trip to the library yesterday, I picked up 3 diet related things; a book: You on a diet, and 2 dvd's; Yoga Booty Ballet, and Dance Fitness for beginners. I am super excited to try the dvd's out! I love to dance, but have only managed to actually go out dancing once since my son was born. I remember going dancing 2-3 times a week with my girlfriends in my early-mid twenties. (It helped counteract the alcohol calories!). Heck, I even went dancing when I was pregnant! lol - minus the alcohol of course! I'll let you know how they are, maybe I will end up buying one of them.
EDIT: HAHA! I have bested EP! I remembered to copy my post to the clipboard before I tried to post. So, when EP timed me out, and I lost my post, I was able to paste it back in again. I rock!

Weigh In
Thanks so much to everyone who left their best wishes. It means a lot to know that people are interested and that we all care about how each other is doing. My mom's prognosis is starting to look better. They're saying she might be out by Friday. She's in isolation right now, due to an E. Coli infection, and I can't visit her. Well, not with the baby anyway.
I did end up going to my meeting last night. We had planned a potluck dinner, and I didn't want to miss out. :) Anyway, it was a good weigh in. I am down 1.8 lbs for the last 2 weeks, so that's great news! I think most of it was probably from before all this drama, but I'll take it either way. One good thing about this, is that having my mom's dog is forcing me to go for walks every day. :P

My Mom
Where to start.... My mom is in the hospital for starters. I had just typed out a blog entry about it already and frigging EP timed me out of my own account, so I lost the whole effing thing!
Thursday, I took her to the Dr, and she sent us on to the hospital. We checked into Emerg, and they set her up on an iv for dehydration, and said that she would need to stay until the next day for further tests, etc... So I went to her apt, and fed and walked the dog and cat, packed her up some clothes and her prescriptions, and dropped them back at the hospital. Then on my way home (mom lives an hour away in Toronto), my battery light in my car goes on. I make it all the way to the shop near our place, and they look at it right away for me. It turns out it was the alternator. So I call hubby to come pick us up, it is 9 pm by this point, and bring us home.
My mom calls the next morning to let me know that she will be in hospital until Wednesday, getting more tests, and maybe some minor surgery done. So my car is done at noon, I pay $525 which I don't have to spare, and then I'm on my way. On the way to TO, I realize my cruise control no longer works. They've obviously effed up while they were installing the new alternator. I also lost all my radio pre-sets, which is no big deal, but annoying.
Anyway, head to my mom's, tidy up the place (dog hair tumbleweeds), wash the dishes, change the cat litter, take out garbage, clean out fridge of perishables, grab her mail, paper, and phone charger, along with the dog food and dog, and pile everything into the car. I left food and water for the cat and left her behind. I'm allergic to both dogs and cats, but I figure the cat at least can take care of herself. Head back to the hospital, drop off things to my mom, and then head home in Friday afternoon rush hour traffic, with a dog and a cranky baby sharing the car ride with me. Call my bro, in Alberta and let him know what's going on. He says he will come back to help if it is serious.
Then this morning my mom calls and tells me that she will likely be in hospital for 2 weeks. She has a cyst the size of an orange in her intestines, which will need to be removed, hopefully without surgery. There is likely something wrong with her gall bladder, and she was give an initial diagnosis of Crohn's disease. It's alot to take in, but it could be worse. At least it's all treatable at this point. At least it's not terminal, at least it's not the C-word.
Thank God.
So basically, I'm not sure if I'll make my meeting this week, but even if I do, I'm not hoping for any more than a maintain. I hope all of you have been having a better week than me.

Rain, rain, go away.
Well it rained all day here, so I didn't get out much. We did go to the library this morning for a playgroup at 10:00, but by the end it was raining and it didn't really stop until this evening. I think the forecast for tomorrow is supposed to be better, but I'll be driving my mom to doctor appointments and that's no fun with a baby in tow. *sigh*
Really I'm worried about her. One of the reasons I'm going with her is to insist the doctor do something. She was diagnosed with IBS, but has been having severe digestive problems lately. She has lost 80 lbs in the last year, and hasn't been eating much, afraid that whatever she eats will make her symptoms worse. I'm worried that she's getting dehydrated as well from the recurring diarrhea. I'm worried that she has something worse that is going undiagnosed, because IBS is the easy answer.
Anyway, hopefully some progress will be made tomorrow.
I don't think this week will be very good. I'm hoping I'll keep it to another maintain week.

Canada Day
Canada Day was Sunday, and we decided at the last minute to drive down to Niagara on the Lake and visit Fort George. It's one of the forts involved in the War of 1812. It was a fun day, they had free admission (due to the holiday) and there were staff in period costume, cannon and musket displays/firings as well as fife, pipe, and drum bands playing, and singing groups, and a fireworks display. It was great, we brought our son with us, and he loved it! He even slept through the fireworks after watching the first few minutes! We took lots of pictures, but I haven't downloaded them yet. I decided not to weigh myself today, since my scale at home isn't as accurate as the one at the meeting, and I don't want to mourn a gain, or celebrate a loss, that may not actually be there.
We start Mommy and Me at the library tomorrow morning, and I think I might even try to take in a movie tomorrow afternoon, if my son isn't cranky.
HAPPY BELATED CANADA DAY EVERYONE!!!!

sleepless
So, I'm sitting here at the computer, because my son won't fall asleep, so I figured I might as well catch up on reading everyone's blogs. He has woken up crying 5 times in the last hour. I feel sorry for my hubby, he has to work in the morning.
I don't really have the energy, or the desire to sit and write anything about myself tonight. Just to say that I think my Monday weigh in will confirm a maintain week. I haven't been good, but I haven't been that bad either.
Oh, and tomorrow night me and hubby are having date night on the porch. We'll have dinner, put our son to sleep, sit on the porch, have a few drinks, and pretend to be on a date. Just me and him, no interruptions (hopefully). Pretty lame, eh? Oh well, I'm excited. :)

diet
So, I did end up going to the gym yesterday. Hubby stayed at home with our son, while I went and did a 45 minute workout. After the workout I hopped on the treadmill for about 15 minutes. So the exercise and water were good yesterday, but food was over again! I made ribs for dinner. I had it with lots of veggies and a baked potato.
Anyway, he's back at work today. So the healthy eating is back on track! Ohh gotta go, my son's crying...

My husband is bad for my diet!
Ha! I've realized today, again, that my husband is bad for my diet. Due to eff-ups at his work, he has been kept at home on days he is normally scheduled to work. Normally my hubby has 2 days off a week, although they don't always fall on the actual weekend. This week he has been at home from Saturday until tomorrow. a 5 day weekend. Now, if we had known this was going to happen ahead of time, we might have planned something. As it is, we don't have the money to do anything except continue digging out our yard.
While he has been home, I've been eating more, and not good things either. I'm not getting out and doing my normal exercising and walking, because I've been wanting to spend time with him. When I do get him to go for walks he won't go as fast as me, since he says he wants to take his time and enjoy and talk. That's all well and good for him, he's not overweight! Seriously ladies, he's cramping my style! lol
I've decided that tomorrow, I'm going to the gym for a workout, and he and our son can have quality time tomorrow together all morning! Then I'll probably help dig in the afternoon. Unless it's another scorcher like it was today.
My food was over today again, not by too much, but I did not get near enough fibre .

It's a Miracle!!!
I went for weigh in tonight and I was shocked to discover that I didn't gain, that I lost! It was only a loss of 0.2 lbs, which is basically like staying the same, but I'll take it! I was really shocked because I had been debating going to the meeting at all. I don't like going if I have a gain, let alone a big one, which is what I expected. Then I weighed myself at home just before the meeting. My scale at home showed me as being up by a pound, so I figured I'd suck it up and just go and report a 1 lb gain.
Hahaha!
My streak is still going! I have lost weight every week since April 23rd! That's 9 weeks in a row!
I don't have a weigh in or meeting next week, due to Canada Day. I'm still going to weigh myself at home though, and record it here. Maybe I'll go 10 weeks!
