Before After

SoF is Packing up

I I have not been posting around here lately, mostly because I ported my blog over to transformation.com/thulpa

I will be blogging there from now on, though one of these days, I will post up all the things that I learned about weight loss in one easy to read post.  For now, you can catch up on all my (mis)adventures there or on facebook.  shoot me a PM if you want the info.

Thanks for all the reading from everyone.

Steve (SoF)

SoF is out on the trails

I will say this EP, I have not been posting in a while, and here I go and post, and no one knows, nor do I get any advertising?  Gee...I hope if you are visiting, that you go and read up on both of them.

I do not have a lot of time, suffice to say that I have been out on the trails, hitting the gym, and reading up on Transformations.  I am out doing a lot more, although today is becoming a lazy day, at least I go to work soon to remedy that.  I already have in this week 3 Strength workouts in, and I have 40 miles, with tomorrow off to get out into the trails more.  I am thinking I will do the 35 mile loop tomorrow, as I have been doing really well with the 20 miles so far.  I need a little more of a challange...

Side note: Monday was the first day that I went out on the trails, and I rode 20 miles, so I rode 20 more later in the week.  I need to find the base line for how much is enough, mind you I am not fast, though I can ride for long amounts of time.  I am working on efficiency.

The diet is going well, I have been eating vegetarian for qutie a while now, more consistantly than ever before.  I am also eating a lot more vegan, especially now that resteraunts are popping up where I can go to eat that way.  We have  a new raw resteraunt near myself and DU 288.  So we go there, and there are three others that are by my house.

I am off to work, have a great day all, Plenty of funny stories and songs is the post below.

Steve (SoF)

The Great Roast of SoF

I figured I needed a disclaimer "If you are offended by the use of anatomical words in a humorous manor, please do not read this post"

Greetings one and all.  It has been a while since I have posted here and with good reasons, I promise.

Song of the Post:  Love is in the air around SoF lately, so I will post a track about love, ok maybe two.

OK the first one is more for everyone, the sunsets are great, and the track is lovely.  There are a lot of songs out right now about love, which is incredably nice.  Or maybe you hear them more when you are thinking about it?
When Armin releases a track, it is typically pretty cool, though he finds talent more than anything.  He is responsible for a lot of the producers, artists and DJs that I enjoy.  I will drop him some love every now and again.

What is going these days?  Well I have lost all the winter weight that I gained.  Yep, I was surprised that it was pretty easy for me this time around.  Now only that, eating has been really good as well, when I remember to eat.  (that is not so good).  I have found lots of great recipes, and I hope to cook some of them soon.

I would not make mention of things love related without reason.  I have been talking (actually talking) to my Vegan friend that I met online, so far things are well, I have no idea if we will actually meet soon, I figure her stalling is a great way for me to get into better shape, and keep veganing up my wardrobe.  Now, I will have to refer to her as vegan girl number 1.  There is another vegan girl that I have been talking to, which is actually the roommate of my co-worker.  She is travelling down a similiar road as I am so it makes things rather easy for us to talk, trade recipes, and over all be at ease around each other.  There are also like 4 other people around me who are single now, so this is interesting.  or could get very interesting.

On to some of the funny things that have been happening.

Things get hectic around the SoF home office, and sometimes I am not able to produce quality funny stories for you guys/gals around here.  So today, I am offering up a back log of funny things that have been happening around the life and times of me.

Sof Vs. The Accidental pick up
I forget that I am guy sometimes.  I relate very well to women, I have several women friends, and I work with all women.  There is not a whole lot out there that a woman can come to me with that I am have not heard at least once by now.  That is not a challange by the way!  I forget that my sex is more associated by the head between our legs, or is simplier words a "walking penis".  I forget that I am seen as said walking penis, and when I asked one of teh fellow retail warriors out to drinks on Saturday, she took it as me asking her out.  It was more like I see someone who needs a chance to vent, and drinks are a great place for said adventures...We are conversing through the night, and she mentions red flags...Ok, I did not pay attention to it until I realized that she thought I was hitting on her.  Oops, I did not really know what to do here, I am not used to being in the saying no position or the it probably will not work out.  At least my head was in the right place...

The Roast of SoF:
Appearantly, everyone at my job has an impression of me.  So much so that it is actually funny watching them act like me even if it is meant to mock me.  They were on stage yesterday and we had the entire place laughing, even some joining the festivities.  There is a huge difference in this and hateful mocking.  I am happy that they all like me enough to do these impressions.  I cannot really give you an impression here as you would have to know me to see how they are funny, Though I can give you this:  One of the people called me mr. spontainity, my co-worker laughed, and goes "Him? more like mister consistancy".

SoF vs. The Regular
I am admitantly able to set off Gaydar, I have no qualms about it, nor any inclination to correct it.  We have a guy who comes in every morning, and is the complete antithesis of me in beliefs, including homosexuality.  While I take no issue, he takes issue being in the presence of gay people, in fear that it spreads through human contact  Enough backstory.  He and another co-worker get into it about something stupid and neither of them can let it go.  The regular comes up to me and goes "I came back to cut of his scrotum and wear his testees as earings." I look at him and think that is the gayest thing I think you have ever said to me.  Seriously, what I am supposed to say?  Do you have a matching outfit?  Then he starts asking me about my personal stats, then invites me to wrestle him.  Somehow I go dragged into this, and it keeps travelling down a long dark tunnel.  I just hope there is an end in sight...

Sof vs. the love triangle.
So we have another guy who comes in and he and I talk about BFL, lifting, dieting, life in general.  So co-worker M has a crush on him, which I am told third party because co-worker M and I are passing friends.  Well, Co-worker M has told others, and it got to me because I am better friends with everyone else.  Now, Co-worker B's mother know this guy's brother (following?) so when co-worker B asked her mom to find out if this guy was single or not, she took it too far, and told the bother that someone in the store liked him.  The guy, J, thinks it is co-worker Je, who has not really spoken up on the topic, I do not think that she knows.   How am I involved in all of this?  The guy and I lift together a couple of times a week.  I am the closest person to him in the store.  I am asked to find things out when we lift.

That is all for now, I have to move again, or I will fall asleep. Too many days working in a row.

Thanks for reading, I hope to be around to read blogs this weekend
Steve (SoF)

SoF is Radiant.

OK where to begin.  As always with the Song of the Post.

Song of the Post:

For the Non dance song: This week it will be Josh Rouse 1972

Ok where to go next?  how about this, I have started everything over again.  I have lacked focus in the past, and I have consulted a personal trainer to bring myself inline.  I have also gotten FAT!.  I kid you not all the rules that I posted about how to stay thin, I did not follow, including though not limited to:
1) Wearing elastic all winter to be comfortable.  This is dangerous, elastic in general is dangerous.  Get rid of all non-workout elastic and you will be much happier.  PJs, just make sure that you only wear them to bed, not all day.
2) Food through a window, this is not healthy let alone vegan.  I have done that through out the winter as this was considered one of the worst winters in history for us out here.  I did not do any shopping, nor did I do any cooking.  That has to stop.  So I have made food for the next couple of days, completely vegan, and most of it is raw.
3) Working out - this is a must, you have to do this if you want to be healthy.  So I have looked into a trainer to help me along the way.

What is with the sudden change of Pace?  Well, I would love to say that I have the internal motivation, maybe it is in the water?  No, actually it is the external motivation that is getting to me.  I have been chatting with a fellow vegan online, and it is going well between us so far.  Well, I would like to look presentable for our first encounter, and that will take some time as well as some work.  OK a lot of work.

Fun fact: according to veganexpress, the number of people who are vegans is less than the number of people who have been abducted by aliens.  I have a better chance to be abducted than meeting another vegan.  Wow.

Ok, so this is a quick one, as I have too much energy to sit in front of a computer anymore.

Have a great one

SoF Plays Along

I will go along with the post preading like wildfire.

But First: Songs of the Post: I have decided that I have enough music and not enough posts so, I will be including a trance song for workouts, and a song for whatever I feel is appropiate.

First is a great one to get you ready for the workout.  I fell in love with this and it is now the first track that plays when I hit the gym.

The second is a track that I first put up way back when I first started the Song of the Post.  It is great for yoga, relaxing, and the them is great.  it is called your hand in mine by Explosions in the Sky.

So here goes:

1) What is my ritual to destress?
This is funny to me.  It has taken many years of training, harvesting and cultivation, though I do not get stressed out anymore.  There is nothing too stressful out there, with the exception of working out.  If I am bundled up, I take a deep breath and remember that it is not worth the trouble to be stressed about something.  I make it very easy for people around me because of this.  I do not think that people realize it as much as it happens.

2) First thing I do when I get up for the day?
Open my eyes that should be a no brainer.  If I am feeling it, I do a little yoga, though I mostly pet my dog, see photos, eat a banana (I actaully buy like 4lbs of bananas when I go shopping).  Bathroom as well.

3) Last thing that I do before I go to bed?
Turn off the computer most days, take evening suppliments, set alarms if needed, pet dog, bathroom things.

4) Are you a cat or dog person?
Have you been paying attention? Let's see if you have

5) Favourite TV shows?
Movies..mostly, though I have the TV on because I need flashing noise.  I like top chef and project runway for reality TV.  Anything cooking or yoga related.

6) Favourite Movies:
I love lots of movies, Anything by Darren Aronofski, Put a movie in and I will watch.  There is not a lot to do in the winters out here.

7) Favourite form of exercise?
Biking, spinning, LIfting, yoga, Martial arts, anything really except running.

8)Favourite heatlh food?
The Spicy Black eyed pea vegan pizza from the thrive diet.  It is so nutritious, that One pizza lasts a week and it is so healthy.

9) Favourite Junk food?
Anything from a window....

10) What I am most proud of?
I love that I am very intelligent, and that I do not freakout or stress out over things, I have worked on it for years, my abiliity to try new things and not be scared.  I like most things about me.

11) What am I least pround of?
I thought that I would be farther in my life than I am now, though that has made me who I am.  I cannot change this, though it is something that is easliy fixable.  Meh, If that is my only drawback, then I figure I am in a great place...

12) Why did I choose an EP blog?
This is funny, I actually did not choose to be here, a friend of my did.  Even though she has left, I still like some of the people here and I like talking to them in blog if nothing more.

13) Three blogs and Ep that I read on a regular basis?
If you are not reading GettinFit you are really missing out.  I love Alicia's blog, it is probably the only reason that I have stayed as long as I have.  I like that we have a lot in common with out goals.
I read Katewhoate a lot as well as she and I eat the same foods.  She is also very funny.
Stardust deserves credit also, her blog is like the fraiser of blogs, it is intellectually funny, and keeps me entertained.  I am actually using hers as a template for this posts.
Honorable Mention Slowandsteady, she always has great information though took a year off of posting.  I do not know if welcome back is appropiate, though it is good to have you here.

14 I found it.  I missed Favourate day off activity.
I love going to the gym multiple times a day on my time off, I walk the dog for a couple of miles, I try not to vegate during the nicer months like I do in the winter time.

I think that is a lot of things for the post.

Funny story of the post;  I love these, they remind me that funny things happen all time and you have to take a step back and enjoy it.  So this weeks funny story of the post is to steal this hook...Put up something funny that happened in your life.  What did X say or do?  What happened that had everyone laughing?

I pushed all the equipment at work to the furthest back it would go.  I am one of the tallest people at work, so I can get this stuff to the furthest it will go.  I did this, and left a note for one of my favourite coworkers that said

"  Haha even in my sleep I can still taunt you.  Have a great day"

I got a response back from her

"You are a jerrrrrk....lol"

Have a great day all and thanks for reading...
Steve

SoF is Updating Soon...

I will have some updates shortly.  It is finally noce out, so I am trying not to sit in front of a computer all day.

Thanks to all who have checked in on me

Steve (SoF)

SoF Vs. Hibernation

I do not have the excuse that January is here.  I avoid the gym in January, Mostly because it is easier to support people in the weight loss journey when they are not on the bench that you want....

Opening Shots.  I did make it to the gym today, starting back up with the original BFL workouts that I did way back when.  I am a huge fan of Tweaking, though I know that you need to start somewhere, especially if you have not been to a workout in a couple of months.  January is Deep Freeze out here, we dropped below freezing back in early December, and just got out this weekend.  I have been in front of a space heater for most of the winter.  Brrr....

I have finally been reading more of the BFL transformation challenge.  While I did not join this challange, I am motivated to do it.

I am planning to run the Apple Cider Century in Sept.  I do not know how many miles I am doing yet.  If I have to pick a distance when I sign up, then 50 miles, if not, then I will shoot for the Hundred, and hopefully get there.  My goal is to finish off the trails by the end of the Summer (imagine biking for 35 miles).  That will be my training routine.  It is 25 miles to a 1/2 way point, so adding 10 will not be too bad.  I will still spin in the mornings.

For Kate who Ate (if you still come around): I ordered the Veganomicon, I was laughing about the title.  It is either about demonic veggies or a cook book.

Funny Story of the Post:  My dog has found a new toy.

That toy is....

Mud.  Yep, my dog loves mud.  So much so, that when she was coated in dirt and grime, she dashed through the house to the "big dog bed" and shook herself off.

"Big Dog Bed" is my mother's name for her bed.

I hope everyone is well.  I will be around to read blogs soon.

Thanks for reading, more to come.

Steve (SoF)

Happy New SoF!

I have been lurkign around though I have not been posting mostly because I have been trying to Detox from the holidays.  OK, lets get things off...

Song of the Post: One of the first dance songs that I heard, it fueled my love for the stuff.  Also, our morning spin class instructor plays it during the workouts.  I sing along, as it helps me breathe better while in there.

Getting exercise in: My mother is a pack rat, She has things from both sides of the family, random things.  We had boxes packed into the house almost up to the ceiling, as well having only one chair in the house.  We decided to host the big holiday, and we had to clean it all out, So, with the help of some friends, we had moved all the furniture around and packed up the garage nearly full of stuff.  There is some much out there, I have not clue what is hiding in there.  (Bonus funny story of the post: So I tell my mother that I would like to clean out enough of the garage to park my car in there, and She tells me that that would be a tremendous waste of space, why would you want to do that?)

As I have posted in the past, that she has several ailments.  I have good news on that front, she is qualified to get stomach surgery,  Which means that I will have an ally in my journey.  She is doing what she can right now, though I am prodding her when I can.

SoF's Secret ally: I have a secret ally in my weight loss journey.  It is also a detrament as well.  I have next to no sense of smell.  yep, It is all that I have ever really known.  Flowers do not smell like anything, neither does home cooking.  Which means that food tastes the same to me as well.  It is a matter of what kind of cardboard I indulge in.  If I am gaining weight, I am just being lazy and eating out instead of cooking it myself.  if I cook for myself, I have more control over what I am eating.  Almost anything that I eat out is 80% or more of wheat. I gave up wheat as part of a deit, and the health benefits are amazing. (Side note: all you whole grain fanatics, there are of other grains that are better for you than Whole wheat.  Quinoa, Buckwheat, amaranth. etc).

Cycling Goals:  I am working towards The Apple Cider Century.  I can do a lots of miles already, though I need to see how far I can go by the end of the summer before I pick how many miles I am going to do.  There are 25 (Which is what I do as a regular ride about 1.5 hours).  50, 75, and the big 100.  that is my goal to get there.

Transformation Challange:  I am working out the kinks of my transformation challange, today is the first day of the year for medatation at temple, and there is a blizzard warning today.  I have been doing other things on my list of transformation challange.  I have been working with work to reduce the impact of my store, I have worked out what I need to do go for a new job this year.  I will only be caffinating people for fun rather than for living means.  I love this whole concept so much, and once again I am happy that Alicia is championing the way.  I will be as well.

Funny Story of the Post:  Over the holiday, my boss gave everyone a little goodie bag, it coffee, chocolates, candies and a personalized card.  My co-worker was going on and on about the card that everyone got and how much it meant to him.  Everyone had been talking about their cards while I was away.  I did not even know about this until he gave my mine things from their hiding place.  I look over everything, and there is the card.  My card was blank.  yep, we started laughing over this, because he was hyping up the card so much.  So, what do you do when this happens?  You call your boss out on it.  Chris (my co-worker) was telling me about all the nice things that you said to everyone in their cards.  Though why did you leave mine blank?

Epiloge: After turning bright red, She told me that she figured that I was on vacation, and she had time, so she kept putting it off, and finally forgot.

Thanks for reading, and I will be around to read up on everyone soon
Steve (SoF)

SoF has random thoughts

Opening Shots: I wish to thank everyone for the birthday wishes, and for all the comments.  I have been spawning readers or the lurkers are finally coming out.  Which ever way, I am happy to have everyone here and I hope that everyone is entertained.

Song of the Post: Tritonal's Forever.  A couple of my favorite DJs out with another single, this is some quality stuff.  I slowly break out of the dance barrier every now anad again.  This is not one of those times, as I love to have music when I work out.

Random Title: I was calling this post "How SoF met his husband" in honor of the random posts going around about reminessing on the meeting on thier respective signifigant other.  There are two reasons as to why I chose not to 1) I am not in the market for a guy, and section 8 passed, so it would just bring up all kinds of awkward questions.  2) I have been single for the better part of a year, ( I will add the and a half, though grudgingly).  So on with the show.

Transformations: The book has not come out yet, and I still have not found out when it is coming out.  Everything that I have listed is coming out Autumn.  Oh, well to tide me, and everyone over head over to transformation, and check out the TV part of the website.  The TV part of the page is where they took the people who have succeeded at the challange.

Twlight: I was out at the twlight premere.  Yep, though I have not read the books, nor am I inclined too.  It was a chance for me to be social and I took it.  I was out with some friends all in homemade Team Edward shirts.  The theatre was empty.  I was playing spot the oddity.  There was a guy with a salt shaker, why you need a salt shaker in a theatre is beyond me.  There was a girl trying to finish the book before the movie started.  It was apparantly a part of some bet.  I counted 2 people recording the movie to bootleg it.  It was a nice time.  And I was able to hang out with the single female of the group.  One of my friends who went was also called one of the coolest old people they girl had ever met.  She is 24.  I better be careful, by her logic, I should be casket shopping.

Not a typical vacation: I have taken the last couple of weeks off from the workout.  This is actually a tip from the pros.  Taking some time off, will allow you to get a sense of how you feel when you do not work out, follow a diet or whatever.  You can feel a noticable difference after a week.  If you do this, make sure to gain weight.  Yes, I am advocating this, only because it gives the ability to truely take advantage of this time off, and the difference in how you feel.  Do not do this for too long though, it is easy to get too comfortable.  From my experince, it is quicker and convienent.  You feel awful though.  That is the take away lesson.

Funny story of the Post: I do have to laugh that some of my features and titles are spreading around the site.  Slowly, everyone will be able to laugh and enjoy themselves a little bit more.  Today's is actually my mother's favorite, she tells it to people because she likes it so much.  Out by the house, we have a casket store (Yep, the post is about random thoughts that is coming full circle).  I was in a discussion with some class mates about places, and I had made mention that it was over by the casket store.  One of the classmates asked me if I knew what it was called.  I could not think of it, nor was it something that I ever wanted to know.  So I told her, That casket store? I believe that it is called Grave Expectations.

Thanks to all for reading/lurking around here.

Steve (SoF)

Don't Be SoF's Friend...

It is Monday, so that means it is the best day to post around here.  So here goes.

Song of the Post: Band of Horses - No one is going to love you

The Title?  I was laughing at the list of people that have made it to my friends list, and it is slowly turning into an EP graveyard.  Blogs dying of lack of attention, or just people leaving for better things.  Some come back, so post once in a while with the I'm back post, have a post or two and drop off the face of the earth again.  I may have to go lurk around other blogs for a while, make some new friends on here.  There is just the issue of time.  I have a lot going on, and I am taking more things as well.

Monday - Why because it's F*$#ing Monday that's why.  I was planning out what I was going to do for the rest of the year, and how I was going to start off the new year, and I was reading up on some success stories, Ok so the Big EP success story, and I liked one of the points, do not wait for a day, if you are going to make something part of your life, then just start doing it, there is no need for days, new years, no birthdays.  Monday is as good a day as any.

I am going to start prep work for the Transformations Challange.  There is a lot of great information here about how the challange goes, and the book is out Nov 18th.  Some of the highlights, are be the change, and one of my favorites, and one that I have stressed in the past.  Being a spiritual person.  This means following your own path, not anyone else's.  There is a wonderful spiritual energy that Even Bill Phillip's says is one of the most powerful sources of energy.  Side note, I am creating an account there as well, and I will post the link to my progress page there, though that will be very specific.

HItting the reset button - Whenever one wants to change something in there life, trying to start it is the worst.  Something outside of the normal routine is easily put off to I can do it tomorrow, or next time.  Waking up earlier is one of my favorites.  This is one of the few times that I actually drink coffee.  Caffine is a tool, it can be used to help you, though most people use it as a crutch.  Working were I sling caffine, it is always interesting to see people strung out on too much caffine, stressed out, and they look defeated.  Back to the point, there are many things that can help you start a new habit.  One of the best is just talking about it.  That is one of the things that helps me with veganism, I say I am a vegan.  (though sometimes I say a part time vegan).  It works it's way into your subconscience and soon enough you are doing it because you have convinced yourself that you can.

Funny story of the Post:

Click next, I am trying to do the Cardio Comic, though I do not have enough time to figure out what how to do it.

Thanks for Reading Everyone
