Treats!
One thing that I have always been excellent at is rationalizing rewards to give myself. I figure because I work hard and don't have a ton of time, that somehow translates into deserving pizza and ice cream and trashy magazines. Maybe it comes from me being a closet video game nerd because I just love getting loot.
So obviously, I wasn't going to start a lifestyle change without the possibility of fantastic prizes. Being poor limits this ability, but I'm creative and rather easy to please. Yesterday, I had something I'd been craving ever since the weather turned and the mittens came out, that staple of fall, the caramel apple with nuts on top.
My loose plan for handling treats follows: I've obviously had cake and brownies and whatnot before, and any piece that finds itself in front of me over holiday season will probably taste the same as its previous incarnations. Since I don't want to eat everything, I will only satisfy those urges that I've nurtured for a while, like before a brownie or whatever ended up on my plate. I'm hoping that this will be not only a reward for having strong willpower up to that point, but that I'll also really enjoy the object of my desire so much that any other treats don't compare.
As an addendum: W, I'm sorry I didn't have any of your brownies. And Mom, I made W take the pie you made me to work without having any of it.
Seriously though, guys, you know I'm on a lifestyle change.
