Taco Soup Recipe
The taco soup recipe is GREAT! We keep it frozen in 1 cup servings so we
can have a last minute meal.
Make a double batch! You'll love it!
1lb lean ground beef or turkey
1 packet taco seasoning low sodium
1 packet hidden valley ranch low sodium
1 onion
1 can corn
1 can crushed tomatos
1 can small diced tomatoes with mexican seasoning
1 can no fat low sodium chicken broth
1 can kidney beans
1 can black beans
Cook the meat & onion in a skillet, add the taco season and ranch dressing.
Then throw that and rest in a crock pot or regular pot and cook together
until heated through. I typically cook it for at least an hour...and the
longer it stays in the fridge, the better it tastes!
*****do not drain any of the vegetables ***** open the can and put liquid
and all in

New Pictures
GCQMom inspired me. I admired her bravery of putting up the dreaded "before" picture so I added mine. I have a photo album called before and also added a few pictures of my kids in their own album.,...if anyone wants to take a look.

Dads' parenting styles affect children's weight
Dads' parenting styles affect children's weight
SATURDAY, May 5 (HealthDay News) — Fathers' parenting styles have a major influence on children's weight, says an Australian study that looked at almost 5,000 children, ages 4-5, and their parents.
The researchers found that fathers with permissive (no limits on their children) or disengaged parenting styles were more likely to have overweight or obese children, while fathers with a consistent (clear limits, following through with instructions, etc.) style were less likely to have children with a higher body mass index (BMI).
There was no association between the mothers' parenting styles and children's weight, said the study authors from the Centre for Community Child Health (CCCH) at the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne, and the Murdoch Children's Research Institute.
The findings were to be presented this weekend at the annual meeting of the Pediatric Academic Societies, in Toronto.
"This study of a large cross section of Australian preschoolers has, for the first time, suggested that fathers could be at the frontline in preventing early childhood obesity. Mothers are often blamed for their children's obesity, but this study suggests that for more effective prevention, perhaps we should focus on the whole family," Melissa Wake, an associate professor at CCCH, said in a prepared statement.
"Given the importance of the family unit in a child's preschool years, and its influence on their nutrition and physical activity levels, it is timely to look at the parenting roles of both parents and the impact they have on a child's tendency to be overweight or obese," Wake said.
She noted that more than 60 percent of the fathers and more than 40 percent of the mothers in the study were overweight or obese.

Fear of Dying - #35
Sometimes I get these awful feelings like I might be dying. When I feel light-headed from too much exertion or when I get too winded from doing something too strenous or when my heart starts pounding from exercising too much, I fear that I might be dying.
Sometimes I feel like I'm literally a walking heart attack just waiting to blow! I don't have any major health problems. My cholesterol is normal, everything else is normal. My blood pressure is a bit hight, but nothing too bad. But I worry anyway! I know I am morbidly obese. Morbidly!! That means Deadly!! I just don't want to be a statistic. I don't want to die at a young age. I don't want people to say "what a shame. If she had only lost weight."
I don't want to die early from a condition that I have control over! That would be a shame!!! And, I don't want to die and not be able to see my kids grow up into the wonderful adults I know they will be.

We will remain the same until the pain of remaining the same is greater than the pain of change.

Bags of Sand - #34
This weekend, we filled up the kids' sandbox. We hadn't refilled it after moving, but finally decided it was time. These were some heavy bags of sand. We used 3 bags of 50 pounds of sand. I could barely lift one of those suckers. I came to realize that I am carrying around all 3 of those bags of sand as extra weight on body. I need to lose 150 pounds. I could barely lift one...I can't imagine what the equivalent of 3 of those are doing to my body.

Terrible but great Weekend
It was a terrible weekend diet-wise. I ate so much and didn't watch what I was doing at all, other than thinking...this is going to hurt on the scale in the morning. But, I did have a great Mother's Day weekend. My kids and husband treated me like a queen. LOL! Breakfast in bed, dinner out, cards and presents...the whole works. So, I blew one weekend...it was totally worth it.

Happy Mother's Day
For every Mom everywhere: Happy Mother's Day
A mother's love determines how
We love ourselves and others.
There is no sky we'll ever see
Not lit by that first love.
Stripped of love, the universe
Would drive us mad with pain;
But we are born into a world
That greets our cries with joy.
How much I owe you for the kiss
That told me who I was!
The greatest gift--a love of life--
Lay laughing in your eyes.
Because of you my world still has
The soft grace of your smile;
And every wind of fortune bears
The scent of your caress.
