Still pluggin along

Went for offical weighin this morning, still pluggin along, slow and easy. Guess I have missed my target of six months, but just cant complain. This has been an amazing journey here in my old age, my wife says I need to quuit now, I'm getting too thin!

Linda says usually I'm done after three months, back to my old ways. True in the past my blood sugar has remained low after a fifty or so pound loss, not so this time. Everytime I slip it shows the next morning, and takes a couple of days to come back down. That means nose to the grindstone from now on. Good for me I'm not tired of Subway salads yet, love that tuna and fat free french dressing!  Keeps me alive when I'm on the road.

Just skip the snacks, the candy bars, the tater chips and chew some Trident. I cut the bread and the potatos and that seems to work pretty good. TIll the next offical weigh in, see ya all skinny folks later, keep up the good work......Ed

Back on the DOPE..

Yep, back to see my doctor yesterday, I wouldnt go if it werent for needing someone to write my prescriptions! Showed another 6lb weight loss by his scales, so I'll take it! Lucky for me I dont have to go back for six months, I should be wasted away to nothing by then, ..Yea, RIGHT

And a message for Jon, I've sent you a couple of messages but the site sends them into the clouds and says they're missing, so Good Luck to you and glad to see you back in here.

Its hot and humid here but I still get out and walk the dogs when I'm home and helping keep the grass mowed is a job enough for now, cant wait for cooler weather and hunting season, I should handle it better this year than years past, No Smoking and lighter on my feet. .......

Good Luck to all and let's keep the ball rolling downhill

WOOHOO, unexpected loss!

No, not really, I knew it but wuz still nice to see it on the doctors scale. This one was pretty easy, I DIDNT THINK ABOUT IT MUCH. Looks like I'm settled in now with a pretty good routine, not trying to rush, and enjoying an occasional slip for a few not so bad items I crave. NO to bread, sugar and potatoes.

Looks like I will miss my target of 270lbs in six months, I'll have to work on that a little longer. Come on folks, this stuff feels great, dont loose sight of the goal, and dont get down on yourself for a minor slip, it means nothing in the long run. This IS "change you can beleive in", not the phony crap we get daily on the news.

8 more days will make one year smoke free, and if you can quit smoking, YOU CAN DO ANYTHING!

Time to check in again...

Stopped by the doctors office to check my weight, my shorts are getting to loose to stay up with comfort. This is a good sign, made it below the ole 300 line, I can weigh at home, my scale only reads to 300. Small problem, there is a 4 lb discrepency between the two, I will keep the drs office as the offical tally.

Funny thing, my blood sugar daily numbers have not been that good of a morning but the A1C test came in at 6.8 a big improvment over the 10.6 of three months ago. Maybe my el cheapo meter is a liar!

I try to stay as far away from bread, potatoes, and sugar as possible and get as much walking in as my old 59 yr ole body can stand. I would even step up my sex life if I could get Linda to cooperate, HAW HAW. I'll check back with youall later, I gots to go to the store and find me some smaller britches

My doctor is a DOPE

Went to see him this morning for a 3 month follow up. Weight was down another unexpected 3 lbs. WOOHOO! Uda thunk this dork would have been delighted with a 42lb reduction, he didnt even notice. I dont think he even looked at my chart before he entered the room. Said he was gonna check my prostrate, I said "Oh Hell No You Aint"! DIdnt even know he did it the last time he saw me. Said he was gonna write the phentermine this time, I said dont bother I got this thing wooped! Guess I'm lucky he writes my prescriptions, I'm more of a doctor than him! Well as he left the room he told to keep up the good work.

If anybody is following this story, please leave a comment, it gets lonely around here and I feel like I'm wasting my time talking to myself

Still Here

I'm still here sluggin' it out trying to shed these "extra pounds" I guess it's a little harder to accomplish here in my old age. The pounds seem to linger on. I'll tell you, Subway sure likes it! $5 twice a day for a salad has help add to their bottom line. Staying away from bread and potatos is my plan, slowly and surely it's coming along.

To optomistic?

Well almost another month has passed, I'm down eight more pounds. I know it's better than gaining eight but it has been an uphill battle. Looks like my goal of 270 is going to be off a little. Still battling with my insurance for the phentermine, they have agreed to giving me 60 days of it but I havent seen it yet! Looks like I dont need it anyway, I can do this on my own!

Honestly folks, I quit smoking after 40+ years, I can quit eating, it should be a piece of cake. Stopped at the doctors office to weigh in this evening, still cant weigh at home, glad to be down, sad it wasnt more. Well, just keep on trying, walking the dogs when I'm home and watching the food intake. To be honest, it helps me to be checking my blood sugar each morning, keeps me from gorging my gutt at night.

OK, this has gone on long enough, good luck to all my friends, lets keep it going! Wish I had more to say, nothing to add until the next weigh-in

Phentermine, HELLO.....

Well here I am nearly six weeks later still waiting on my sorry azz insurace company to approve my meds! You'd think they would like to help a little. I get hungry in the evenings and it's hard to resist the temptation when your stomach tells you its HOUNGRY! THe pharmacy says it has to have preapproval from the insurance before it can fill the script. I will continue to fight for this med, since it has been reccomended to me so highly. Thanks for listening to me rave a little, at least I have dropped 3 more pounds without the pill. Good luck to us all. here's to lower weight and lower blood sugar numbers in the future.

A Little Progress

Made it to the doctors office for a weigh in this morning. Can't weigh at home unless I get under 300#. What a bummer. Still trying to get my prescription for phentermine from my sorry azz insurance company. It's on the formulary but they are procrastinating!

Wish I had somebody else to talk with, sort of boring typing to myself. Well good luck to us all, need to get out and exercise a little if it has stopped raining. Man, I'm goin fishin tomorrow or else...............

1st things First

My name is Ed, I've spent my life on a seesaw. It's been up and down with my weight and my sugar. I was diagnosed as a borderline diabetic twenty-five years ago and have monitored it off and on since.

Two weeks ago I had to see a new doctor to renew my prescriptions. His first assesment was I had to go on insulin to control my diabetes. This is out of the question and I told him so. The US DOT regulations prohibit truck drivers from using insulin.

Well that's where we stand, I have to get control and it has to be for good. At my age I just don't have time to waste anymore
