Hey everyone, I just returned from spending a couple of days in Lake Tahoe. Went there to get away from the heat! It was beautiful weather there...of course, we are about 7,000 feet up in the mountains...so of course it was cooler. My daughter and I had a wonderful time. I went swimming in the lake and the water felt sooooo good. We had a really nice hotel with a semi-private beach right outside our door. Couldn't of asked for better! We sat out on our deck and read our books, enjoyed the view, and just relaxed.
For dinner we just went to the Safeway and got deli sandwiches. We brought them back to our room and enjoyed dinner on our patio. It was alot of fun. On our second day we took a gondola ride to the top of the mountain...it was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy up there. The view was postcard perfect. We took LOTS of pictures. The hotels looked like pinpoints from way up on top of the mountain. It was great!
I'd like to get away for another short overnighter sometime this week but not sure I'm going to be able to fit it in. I have a doctor appt on Monday, volunteer at the State Fair on Tuesday, have Merry Maids coming to give me an estimate on Wednesday, going shopping with a friend on Thursday, and have errands scheduled for Friday. I leave for my cruise on Saturday. So, I guess I won't be able to squeeze in another trip...too bad!! I was beginning to love those little overnighters. I'm probably going to take about 3 days off in Sept to take my daughter and a friend of hers to Disneyland. Of course, I say the trip is for them but secretly....it's for ME! I love Disneyland!! I can ride the rides over and over and over...especially Pirates of the Caribbean. I LOVE that ride. Anyway, school will be back in session for most kids but my daughter doesn't start college until end of September. So, it won't be as crowded at Disneyland and we plan on going mid-week. It should be pretty good.
Well, I guess thats it for me. I missed my official weigh in this week since I was out of town but have one scheduled for next Friday. Then, I leave on the cruise. Now THAT is going to be a challenge. I'll do the best I can, try to get in some exercise, and try to be half way good...but, it IS my vacation. So, I'm going to indulge in some goodies...like margaritas!! I'll deal with whatever happens weight-wise when I get home. I have to have some fun, right??!! I do plan on participating in the activities on board, like walking, water aerobics, volleyball, shuffleboard, etc. So, we'll see how it all works out. Not sure if I will be posting again before I leave. I'll try to post my official weigh in results from Friday before I leave. But, just in case i don't, I'll talk to all of you when I return after Labor Day.
Things are going fairly well. I returned from Santa Cruz on Monday afternoon. I spent the night with my friend and her husband in Santa Cruz on Saturday night. We had a great time!! She has a beautiful home that backs onto a small river. She had a patio built out on the river and it was soooo peaceful to sit out there at night, talk, with the stars overhead. She lives in the Santa Cruz Mountains so it was more like being in a forest rather than at the seashore. Absolutely beautiful!! We had such a good time!!
On Sunday morning, we all went for breakfast and had some great conversations. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit with her. They invited me to stay another night but I decided to head down the road a bit and see where the wind took me. I ended up on the ocean in Pacifica. I decided to stay out another night and booked myself a hotel room in a place right on the beach. I went to get something for dinner, brought it back to my room, and sat outside on my balcony and watched the surfers do their thing. Of course, earlier that day I had gone for a super long walk on the beach and enjoyed the sand and surf. It was fun just walking, people watching, and being outside in such gorgeous weather. I slept like a baby hearing the surf as I went to sleep. It was heaven!
On Monday morning, I had my blueberry muffin and orange juice out on the patio and once again, watched the surfers. They sure stay out late and get out early each day!!
Anyway, I headed out about 10'ish or so and made my way back toward home. I stopped and did some shopping in a small town on the way home, had lunch (crepe with eggplant, zucchini, and other veggies, and coffee to drink), and then made it home at about 4pm. It was a lovely trip!!
I've been doing my biking and swimming every day and its been very hot here...so the swimming has been nice and refreshing. I had such a nice trip that I decided to go on another tomorrow. My daughter and I decided to take a day or so and head up toward Lake Tahoe. We might stay one night, or two...depends on how we feel. Anyway, I thought it would be a fun trip for her and I - just to be alone and have some "together" time.
My mom and I will be leaving for our cruise in 10 days so we'll have plenty of time together then. This will be time for my daughter and I. I asked my daughter if she wanted to go to Disneyland (even though she is 20 years old) so we might do that in September - before she starts school. It will just be a long weekend thing. Plus, she'll probably bring a friend. So this is our chance to have a trip alone.....I'm looking forward to it.
Well, hope everyone else is doing ok. I'll check out your blogs...
Well, another week begins. I have a few outings planned for this weekend so I'm going to have to be careful...plus make sure that I keep up on the exercise. I am going to a friends house for dinner tonight. I'm sure she'll probably order pizza since she has kids. We are going to play with the Wii machine and just chat and catch up. Should be fun!
Then, tomorrow morning I head out to Santa Cruz for an overnighter. That should be fun. I plan to partake of the seafood when I'm there so hopefully the food won't be a problem. I'll check in when I return. I didn't have a chance to check out blogs yesterday but will do so now. Anxious to see how everyone else has been doing.
I'm going swimming at noon when the pool opens. I have to do it then since I won't be around this evening.
it was a very good week. Maybe it had something to do with staying on my eating and exercise plan...hmmmm, I wonder. OF COURSE it did!!
I had a great weight loss this week. I lost 3.4lbs and hit over 50 lbs lost!! Woohoooooo....That was the goal I had set for myself before I got off track and dilly-dallied around. It felt good to finally break through that barrier. I started at 288lbs so its nice to see 230 range. My next short term goal is to reach 225 but the bigger goal is when I get to 199. WOW! That will really be something. Some of my other goals are to continue drinking plenty of water...and to eventually add two other forms of exercise. I have just started biking around town on my cruiser bike. I LOVE IT! I will start biking to my swimming class too. In fact, I can pretty much bike anywhere around town since I live in a small town. No problem!!
I went for a walk this morning, a short bike ride to the bike shop to have my seat moved up higher, and walked again to the local post office. I plan on going swimming this evening. I would normally go at noon but I have to take my mom to a doctor appointment.
Anyway, just wanted to post before I head out for the afternoon. Tomorrow I am going to visit with a friend who has one of the Nintendo Wii systems. She has a few games for her kids and we decided we were going to play with it. She has bowling, tennis, volleyball, skiing, etc. It should be fun! I can't wait. I heard there is now a fitness program for the Wii system too. I'll have to check that out if I like playing on it. We'll see.
Well, I'm heading to Santa Cruz on Saturday....can't wait! I plan to have some nice long walks on the beach and may even decide to go into the ocean and frolic around a bit. That would be fun...if its warm enough. I'm sure I'll get plenty of walking in either way. I guess that's it for me. I'll write again soon and check out blogs soon.
