Mooching food, 124 lbs., bathing suits and other random thoughts
I should weigh 124 lbs. ;)
I swear, with the amount of food my (still small) children "mooch" off me in an average day, you would think I would be fit and thin. After feeding my youngest a breakfast of a scrambled egg, piece of toast, 1/2 of a banana and milk he has the nerve to mooch off my breakfast (bran flakes and strawberries). Someone tell the child his breakfast was MUCH better than the bran flakes :)
I walked yesterday and drank my water. And I didn't eat chocolate. Yay me! A step in the right direction towards my overall weekly goals this week.
Have I mentioned I have to wear a bathing suit soon? Yep, I'm tagging along on a business trip to a warm climate and will need to bear the flesh. D'oh. Honestly, for the first time in a LONG time I'm not dreading it. I've lost weight in the last 4 months. And eventhough I have much more to go, I'm actually kinda starting to appreciate my body. OK, maybe not the stretch marks and fat rolls, but definitely what it's capable of, what I can "mold" it into with proper diet and exercise and what is yet to come as far as my 'get healthy' journey, KWIM?
So I'm not dreading it. Now don't get me wrong, I won't be bearing a bikini or strutting across the pool deck for all to see, but I'm **ok** with where I'm at right now. And that is an even BIGGER mini-victory than the ones I mentioned above :)
I did grocery shopping last night. Not to sound like too much of a dud, but I had fun :) Why you might ask? Well because I was able to go shopping A-L-O-N-E! A true dream for a mom of two young children :)
Anyway, I came across a true find. I'd had samples of this crystalized lime product last year. It's packaged in small, single-use packages and you put it in your water. It comes in lemon or lime crystals and it's really good. Really jazzs up the water without adding calories, sugar or other unwanted "stuff." Anyway, not to sound like a commerical, but I was leisurely browsing the aisles and saw it. So I'm not a much happier water drinker :) Hopefully this will help with one of my three goals for the week: DRINK MORE WATER!
OK, before my 19 month old splits wide open I best be off and start my errands for the day. Today I get to buy new windshield wiper blades for my car. Ahhhh, the glory of a stay-at-home mom ;)
Another Monday and so a new week begins. My goals for the week are seemingly simple: 1) drink my water, 2) get quality walks in at least 4 days and 3) limit sweets/chocolate. There, I wrote it--LIMIT CHOCOLATE! I've been on a personal mission to consume all the worlds chocolate since Easter :) And it MUST stop!!
I've been at this since basically the first of the Year. I had my first physical in years in late December. The cholesterol numbers confirmed what I knew, but didn't want to accept...it was elevated, my weight was high and I needed to make changes. I allowed myself one last food fest with the holidays and then got down to business after January 1.
So my first goals are to get my weight to 199 (from 234) and lower my cholesterol. My second weight goal will be to weigh 159. My exercise goal is to be consistent with my exercise and basically lead a healthy, active lifestyle. I have two young children and want to be able to play with them and really enjoy (especially) the summer this year!
I have my cholesterol recheck on 4/26 and I'm hoping to see some positive improvement. My overall cholesterol was in the 260s and my "bad" cholesterol was (gulp) 192 back in December when it was first checked. Hopefully along with the 24 lbs I've lost since my December physical, my cholesterol will also be down. Down enough so I can avoid going on cholesterol lowering meds.
Well there you have it--my first blog entry. Now onward and upward --um, except for the poundage ;)
