Drat. Up 1.6 lbs at WI today. My body has declared mutiny. And I know why.
Warning: this will be TMI for some of you...
My 5 month old DD has been eating more than I've been able to produce and we were seriously running out of breastmilk in the freezer. So I had to ramp up the old breastfeeding routine like crazy. I'm pumping every 90 minutes - and getting up in the middle of the night too - so I can speed up my production. (TMI, right? I warned you ) The more the body detects the need, the more it'll make. So I'm certainly messing with my metabolism and the whole shebang.
As a result, I'm ridiculously TIRED - I almost fell asleep during a meeting at work - and sheesh, I can't even begin to describe how my "two girls" are feeling. But no diet, nothing will stop me from making certain my baby is fed. I'm obviously not a fan of formula - if we get to that point, we get to that point - but I will do whatever I can in my power to make sure my baby has what she needs from me first.
So I gained 1.6 pounds this week. So be it. Baby over diet. I'll hold here for a while if I have to, as long as I know she's got a decent supply going again in the freezer. Once that happens, I'll focus back again on dropping the pounds.
Anyway, I hope you're all doing well... I'll check in with everybody tomorrow. G'night, y'all.

Sorry
That's awful that is depleting you of all energy and messing with your metabolism! I'm sorry and I hope it gets better soon. I have a friend who is having serious nipple and breast pain from pumping. She doesn't breast feed, for some reason, just pumps. Wish I had thought of that! My babies just refused to latch on!!!!!!!
Oh, before you get your chili fixin's----have you ever tried adding carrots in?? It's one of my "secret" ingredients to get more veggies in the kids without them really realizing it! I started adding carrots to everything from chili to spaghetti to my soups. You can either steam then puree them to really sneak them in, or you can just slice them up and saute them with the onions & bell peppers. My kids actually remind me now to make sure I'm putting carrots in my spaghetti! LOL The other thing I've started doing recently is using not only kidney beans, but also black beans, navy beans, and even garbanzo beans. The garbanzos are not a big hit but they are one of the healthiest beans you can get.
I've also been known to steam & puree spinach and add it into cakes or cookies! I made oatmeal blueberry bars and snuck the spinach in. No one even noticed!!! They were really good.
Stay warm!!! I've got to get my boots out, too! Rain boots! We have 4 days of rain forecasted! Woo Hoo! I love October, Halloween, and rain! :)
Did you ever get a chance to make the bleu cheese pecan dip? I devoured mine!!! I picked up a container of the TJ's dip the other day and I first checked the ingredients to see how close I was--they added olive oil, milk, and lemon juice, in addition to obviously, preservatives. I didn't use any of that. I tasted it and realized that their consistency was much thinner than mine (mine could have stood to be a little thinner--more sour cream or tofutti stuff that you mentioned--i'll look for that!) and it just didn't taste as good as mine did!! I thought my homemade version was soooo much better! :) I'll obviously still eat the dip I got from TJ's..duh! LOL
You MUST be tired. Dang! Just like you told me... it will all work out. Right? LOL! Good luck. And don't even worry about the gain. Once you're able to focus on you, you'll be right back on track. The lack of sleep could have something to do with it, too. Glad you're not being too hard on yourself.
Taking care of you DD first is the most important thing right now. Your a Good Mom, and I know the wt. will fall off when your body is back to normal. Hope you can get some sleep soon.
