Happy Monday!

Hello all!  My weigh in this week was a no change on the scales.  I wish I could have lost but at least I didnt gain!

I have done good with the exercise this weekend.  I am now very happy I have my gazelle because getting outside during daylight hours has been harder and harder.  I did 40 minutes last night while watching the amazing race.

My eating has been fair.  No more binges but I have had a sm piece of cake and a piece of pie this weekend.  All in all, not to bad though.

rest and recoup day

I have been to the grocery store already and now its time to play catch up on my house!  I am also planning an exercise session for the afternoon.  Its nice to not have to exercise before the sun gets to hot, which means 6 am, on a Saturday!
Yesterday I did good the rest of the day and would have made my calorie goal if not for the candy bar attack.
Exercise today:  30 min arm/back/shoulder workout
                             75 min walk outside in the fresh air!
Food for today:   WW toast w/peanut butter for breakfast
                              salad for lunch
                              chili dinner at church for supper
I will be very careful with the chili.  Not to much and NO corn chips!  Also no dessert unless its legal! haha!
I am trying to stay between 1200 - 1500 calories each day.  I seem to lose the best when I do.  I have to work in Tulsa tomorrow, so I will bring my lunch with me to avoid the cafeteria.  Hope everone has a good weekend.  And thanks for all the support!   - Shelly
ps. I dont weigh myself until Monday and I am hoping to stay the same.  I think losing anything this week is already out of the question.
T - I will look for the fudge bars.  Wish I had read that before I went shopping!                

confessions from the brink

Hello, my name is Shelly, and I am a binge eater.  There are days I feel like I am in complete control, and others, I know I'm not.   This started in college where I would eat 6 or 7 candy bars for dinner or eat a whole pizza all by myself and it has been going on ever since.  I really thought I had this under control but now its back and I trying my best to not let it control me again.

I have seen others who post their food and exercise logs on their blog.  I think I will start this also.  It does not make for an interesting read but.... It is a way to keep myself accountable whether anyone reads it or not.  So bear with me people.    I have got to get this under control once and for all!

Exercise:   20 min abs workout at 6 am

Food eaten as of 1300 : 

Breakfast - 1 protein shake with skim milk, 3 Tbs protein powder, and sm banana.

Lunch - McDonalds Asian grilled chicken salad, 20 oz ice tea

*** ate 4 candy bars (full size) from candy stash at work before anyone came in for the day!

50 oz water so far

tonight we are grilling out hamburgers and having fat free potato salad (I'm making it), and baked beans.  There is a big football game so I will not have time to do any cardio.  I will do extra Sat am to make up for it.

Now you see why I need the accountability!  I'm trying to concure my demons - Shelly

 

biggest loser

I am just addicted to this show!  The red team is seems to be pulling it altogether and winning everything!  I have no idea how, but they are.

I dont know about the rest of you, but its finally getting cooler here. I actually had to wear a jacket to work.  This winter, with my newfound weight loss, I am going to buy, and wear, a sweater!  I know it sounds silly but I have not been able to wear a sweater in years!  I got so hot I couldn't stand them!  Now, I am going to lose enough to be comfortable in one.  Silly goal, but oh well, thats what makes life interesting.  Some people want to wear a half shirt but I want a sweater. ( I dont think my stretch marked belly would look good in a half shirt no matter how much I lose!!)

I hope all of you can work your way down to fitting into whatever your dream clothes are.  We all deserve to wear whatever we desire!  On the biggest loser all the girls but one chose skinney jeans.  But one picked Victoria's Secret!  And yes, I want to know what Victoria's secret is too!!!               - Shelly

Garfield the Cat

This is the time of the year I believe I resemble Garfield the Cat.  I dont have any orange fur but I do love to lie around napping and eating.   Garfield loves lasagna and so do I.  Garfield loves candy and I also do as well.  Halloween season is upon us and everyone thinks they should pass out candy to everyone they meet!  The office is already filling up with snack size snickers and orange cookies.  Pharmaceutical reps are nice, but sometimes I just want to kick them!! As Garfield says, "Candy candy candy!"

This year, I am going to try to control my inner garfield.  I know he doesn't like to be tamed but he has got to go!  I need to act more like Odie.  Always jumping around, getting lots of exercise.  I do draw the line at licking people's faces though.

Where am I going with all of this, I have no idea!  Maybe, someday, I'll move beyond cartoon impersonations.  But for now, I'm just going to enjoy the holiday without making a garfield out of myself!       Shelly

busy weekend already

First was a parade, Columbus Day's, then daughter R had to work a booth until noon.  I used the in between time to go grocery shopping.  Almost forgot I also race walked 3.5 mi before we went to town!  Then it was off to the local college for a 2pm game and tailgate party.  After I had 1 hour until other daughter B had to be at a birthday party at 7!!  I still have to go get her later.  Whew!  I just want to veg out awhile and catch my breath.

Can you believe it was so hot today we all got burnt ?!? Is this October or is the calendar playing tricks on me???

I had a nice e - chat with a fellow EPer yesterday that helped me realise I have fallon off the 'healthy living' wagon.  We both started with the same basic eating plan and exercise regime at the same time, March, yet she has lost 70 pounds to my 40 !! When I was done fuming about my bad metabolism I really looked at what she was saying.  She is so dedicated and she does not cheat!  (I didnt ask, I can just tell by the way she talks) Not on the food or with the exercise!  I cheat all the time, more and more the longer this goes on!  Its no wonder she is still losing like crazy while I have been stuck in the mud!!  I really need to rededicate myself to changing my old ways forever.  I can never go back to the way I ate before.  AND I never want to be a couch potato again!  So I want to say Thank You Melissa.  Thank you for opening my eyes to what I have really been doing. and Thank You for reminding me what I need to do to get back on the right track!  Your no nonsense approach to life is wonderful.  I am ready to give you a run for the loser of the month now!  So glad we found each other here!

I hit 40!

Pounds, not years!  At least not yet!!!  40 lbs of fat are gone forever!  And while I would love to lose another 40, I think I will work on my 14 pound goal first.  These days it seems that for every pound I lose, its a lot of sweat and tears!  They are so slow coming off now!  Its unreal!  I'm fighting for every ounce.

Congrats to Lafay, our big deal winner, and all you other losers out there!  We seem to have lost a couple people, but maybe they will come back when there up for the challange. All in all, I think we had a very good loss this month!   Speaking of challanges.....Did you see the biggest loser last night?  I dont understand how the guy was voted off.  I was on the phone (MIL) and missed it.  Last I seen was a tie between two different people. ????  Somebody please clue me in.

I hope all of you have a good week and keep up the exercising!  Tip of the month:  Dont buy your haloween candy until the last possible minute!  The less temptation, the better!  I dont know about you, but once I get a taste of those snack size snickers - I cant eat just one!!!   - Shelly

A deal is a deal

Okay everybody, lets get those numbers in.  I have heard from patti, tawanda, and lafay.  Now I need the rest.  We cant wimp out now.  We have weigh to much to lose! haha!  SO lets own up to our losses and gains.  After my 3 pound snafoo toward the end of the month, I have lost 4 pounds for the month.   Now I know thats nothing to cry about but it does pose a problem for my goal of 150 by the end of the year.  I dont think its going to be possible to lose 25 pounds in three months.  15 would probably be more like it.  The first few always come off faster than the last do!  While somewhat upset at myself, I know I need to be realistic.  I am much healthier than I was last year at this time.  And I also know weight loss happens in its own sweet time, not on my personal time table.  I also know myself, and there is no way possible I am going to go through a holiday season and lose alot of weight.  Sooo..... I am going to revise my goals now.  I want to lose 7.5 pounds in Oct & Nov and maintain for the month of December.  This way if I do lose any, it will be a bonus.  I will work on the rest after the first of the year.  I have always wanted to be 135.  That was the weight I felt my best at many many years ago.  After I make the 160 mark I will reset my goal for that.  I never before believed it would be possible to weigh that again, but now, thanks to you guys, I am going to go for it!  You are so inspiring!

I will make a separate blog to list the Deal Stats.  If you need to look at last month, go to Tawanda's blog and she has a link set up to take you right there, along with tales of her 8 pound weight loss this month!  GO T!!  And look at Layfay!  Down a whopping 11.5 lbs in September - You go girl!  Good Job!  Dont forget about Patti, she is no slacker at 7!  Amazing!

End of September

This month has just flown by!  I hope all of you had loss's and not gains.  I will be collecting all the "DEAL PARTNERS" info on Sunday and Monday to post on the 2nd.  Anyone who would like to join up just drop me a line.  I will need your losses for Sept and goals for Oct. and any other personal goal you would like  to add.

I have lost the final 'gainer' pound I had from the weekend and am now starting again. I feel like I lost a week in my own person goal challenge to be 150 by the end of the year.  BUT I did learn a very valuable lesson!  Stay away from the chocolait candy bars!  And - Dont let my emotions take control over my eating!!!  Since I am going to be doing alot of traveling with my new job, I am going to have to bring along road munchies and avoid convience stores along the way.  Maybe a bag of carrots and celery in my lunch box will do it.  I am orientating this Sunday, so wish me luck!

A big thank you goes out to my blogging  friend Tammy who found someone that directed me to a calorie burning chart that listed my gazelle.  It was at Fatburner.com.  They offer a pay service like SparkPeople but with a bigger listing of exercises.  And, I went on it (they let me use the tools as a trial) and found 4 listing for gazelle.  (I knew I counldn't have been the only sucker to buy one of those things!)  I picked that I used it at a moderate speed, because even though I think its vigerous - I'm sure its not, and the darn thing burns even more than I guessed.  My hour workout on Tuesday nite burned 640 calories!!!! WooHoo!  I guess I will use it more often.  Its not that I dont like it, it just makes my knees ache for a few hours after I use it and I never really felt like it gave me an intense workout.  But it is nice in bad weather or when you want to watch something on tv and workout at the same time!
