Before After

OH! The Stanley CUP!

I forgot to mention my night last night. I worked at the restaurant during the play off game last night!  Oh man was it a mad house!!!!! I did happen to get off work to catch the last 10 min of the game. I at least got to watch the end of it.

The Red Wings are the Stanley Cup champs for 2008!  YAY!!!!

The Penguins did an awesome job, too!

But I live in Michigan so I was partial to wanting the wings to get the cup. And I work at a Red Wing themed sports bar and grill. So I felt I a certain loyalty to the wings.

It was crazy. I called my dh who was watching the game in Indiana and it was so quiet in the background  but where I was was a totally different story!

It was nuts. People all excited. You could feel such energy from it. I even went outside to talk to dh and people were all screaming and yelling in the parking lot, hugging each other and high fives etc!

ONEderland!

I am finally back under 200 lbs. I am so happy to see it !

This is a copy of my goals I set on April 24 th. I am going to add  marks by the ones I have accomplished. And add some remarks to the ones that are close.

Professional Goals

1. Registerbusiness name     Actually make it official.  Shaped by Shawn

 2. Make class CD (2 for each format) (I only have 3 done but am close)

3. Make class plans(2 for each format)

4. Update flyers for Fall.

5. Put together a presentation for hand out to 5 local churches and follow up on the presentations. The presentation will include copies of flyers and  class plans. (I have put together the presentations and am waiting til my older children get summer vacation so I don't have to bring Matthew along when I talk to the churches.)

6. Go to CEC worshops  May 3,4   and Dayton June 13,14, and 15(Professional developement) The May workshops cancelled for lack of enrollment but I am registered and have made resevations for Dayton

7. Get business insurance by Fall

8. Get a website up and running by Fall ( I have a bit of luck on this one a young man who goes to church and school with my daughter actually designs web sites. He said he is willing to do it for whatever I think is fair.)

9. Do a press release for Fall (possible free advertising)

10. get a good portable PA system for classes Oh Yeah! I got a 100w amplifier that will be awesome for class.

11. get a good headset mic for classesYes I got my mic! It's awesome. I was even trying it out to amplify my flute playing. It works awesome for that too!

12. Contact local community ed about running classes for Fall

13. Listen to fitcom expo at least every other day. While I surf.

Fitness and Nutrition Goals

1. No Fast Food (I had been really hitting it hard lately.....The reason for my major weight gain.....My biggest weakness!

2. Eat more fresh fruits and veggies

3. Eat clean in general

4. Control my portion sizes

5. Not eating late night

6.Work on discipline No MORE dioing good for the first half of day and messing up later!

7. Lose 14 lbs by June 12. (That is 2 lbs a week TOTALLY ATTAINABLE WHEN I EAT RIGHT AND EXERCISE)  Then I will be back under 200 again. ICAN DO THIS!!!!! I haven't quite made that goal but am real close plus I still have a week to get it. I am under 200 again!

General goals

1. Read my Bible daily!

2. Cut clutter in my mind and in my house. Work on 1 declutter project daily.

3. Make exercise a priority! Daily!OOPS that should have been under fitness goalds!

4. Love myself and have the confidence. I Really need to believe in my self and my dreams!

So anyway I have actually accomplished a few of these goals. It's an awesome start !

The food goals I continue to struggle with but I am doing better than I was doing. And that's a start!

The declutter goals haven't made it too far but I will be able to spend more time in this area when my older children are on summer vacation to help with my 3 year old Matthew. I can't seem to accomplish a whole lot other than chasing the little guy down keeping him out of stuff.

I am glad I looked up the goals I made in April. I am progressing! And I can see the areas I still have left to get accomplished.

Have an Awesome day!              Shawn

Stanley cup!

Oh man oh man was last night exhausting! I have mentioned that I work at a Red wing hockey themed sports bar and grill.

It was crazy- busy last night with the game. I can't even tell you how many pizzas I made. Didn't count just did it!

So anyway I was going to start my 12 day base camp yesterday. Day one I did great on the eating portion but did I get my 7 hours of sleep NOT!

I got off work with 3 minutes left in the hockey game. Red Wings ahead 3-2 . I thought cool. No Wednesday game to cook for!  NOT! Penguins scored with under a minute left in the game. It went into triple overtime! Penguins won. So there went my 7-8 hours of sleep I stayed to watch the game after I got done cooking. This 12 days of getting in my 7-8 hours of sleep is going to be hard. I think for my success I will actually wait til after the play offs are done. Then I will be going to Dayton and I can't stick to the basecamp workout because the training is very physically demanding. So that puts me doing my base camp between my Birthday and my husbands birthday. End of June beginning of July.

In the mean time I will still be focusing on my goals for the transformaton and goals for the next year. I will still focus on good nutrition. I will aim to get a minimum of 3 x a week working out. I just have such a hard time with my little one(MR. Handful) I mean Matthew. I get discouraged because it is such a challenge. The plan is to start base camp end of June. And my transformation in July.

I hope everyone is enjoying their day      Shawn

Focus

May 28, 2008

Quote of the Day
"Concentrate all your thoughts upon the work at hand. The sun's rays do not burn until brought to a focus."
– Alexander Graham Bell

Here is an a bit from the book Strength For Life on focus.....
"Focus is the concentration of attention to the exclusion of all else. It means putting everything you have into what you're doing this very second- whether it's work, trainng, nutrition, a friend or loved one. When you're focused, you're not thinking about the past or future. Nothing else enters your mind.
We live in a world that demands our attention, compromises our focus, and steals our precious time. Our minds must withstand a constant assult of stimuli. Focus frees you from stress, cultivates energy, and offers you a sanctuary of sanity- a place to renew and connect with your innerstrength. Focus is a master skill of an extraordinary life.
Perhaps more than any other factor, it is the mastery of your focus, which precedes the mastery of your energy- that separates the average performers from the peak performers in life."

So what am I focusing on today. I did a little clutter cutting on my computer desk(always a source of stress when I can't find things).
After I get off the computer I am going to focus on planning for my success in the 12 day basecamp. Think of things I can do to ensure my success when at work and plan what I might eat while there. Make a shopping list for tommorrow. Filled with things to help me recharge my sytem before I go into the transformation stage.
Other than that I have to work tonight. Boo!
Shawn

OH NO!

Well my weekly weigh in was rather disappointing this morning. I am up 1 pound from last week. I am not too worried about it though. Weight has so many factors to it. I know I ate late just before I went to bed(NOT GOOD) so I sure that had something to do with it. And TOM decided to visit. So with all those factors. It could be water.

I also have been letting my guard down on eating the last couple of weeks. So I am not surprised. I had a huge cookout on Sunday. I know I ate too much.

I can do better. I will do better

I am going to start my 12 day base camp on Monday. It is a plan from my new book Strength For Life. It is like a recharge before I start my 12 week transformation. So I will be watching what I eat very carefully. No junk! No bread, No refined sugars, no alcohol. The only thing is that I am supposed to do these twelve days with absolutly no slip ups or I will have to start over.  This will be hard at the restaurant. But I can do it. I am going to start planning what I can or will eat when I work. I may just buy a bunch of yams to take to work and bake. Planning ahead for my success will make all the difference. The hardest part of the twelve days will be getting in my minimum of 7 hours of sleep per night. I don't get enough sleep and I know it. I only got 4.5 hours last night. I just will have to force my self to rest. And go to bed as early as possible. It is hard working nights and having to get up to get my children off to school. I have to get up early.

I know what I have to do. AND I WILL DO IT.

I hope everyone had a good holiday !

Nice quote!

"I will act now. I will act now. I will act now. Henceforth, I will repeat these words each hour, each day, everyday, until the words become as much a habit as my breathing, and the action which follows becomes as instinctive as the blinking of my eyelids.

With these words I can condition my mind to perform every action necessary for my success. I will act now. I will repeat these words again and again and again. I will walk where failures fear to walk. I will work when failures seek to rest. I will act now for now is all I have.

Tomorrow is the day reserved for the labor of the lazy. I am not lazy. Tomorrow is the day when the failure will succeed. I am not a failure. I will act now.

Success will not wait. If I delay, success will become wed to another and lost to me forever. This is the time. This is the place.
I am the person."

- Og Mandino

That reminds me of how I need to be. I was only down .6 lbs this week. I know I had not been eating as clean this week as I shopuld and it showed. Yes I am greatful for my .6 lb loss !  But I need to really watch my eating and sodium intake.

Have an awesome day !        Shawn

Not much to say

Not  a whole lot to say today. I have to work later.

I was slightly over on my calories yesterday but have been slightly under on some of the days so it should even out by Thursday when I weigh in.

I had a lot of fun last night watching my boy play. My niece and my oldest friend came out too. What I mean by oldest isn't age but I have known her all my life and sort of before. My mother and her mother were good friends and were pregnant at the same time. So we were around each other even before we were born. She was born in May and I was born in June.

I forgot my new digital camera so I didn't get any pics to put on my blog. Darn. My niece did get one picture of me and my friend. I am waiting on her to email it to me.

Have a wonderful day!           Shawn

Shawn's struggle....

I really struggle with working out when I am not teaching fitness classes. I miss teaching.

Working at the restaurant is not as rewarding of a job. Yeah, I take pride in the fact that people will comment on how good the pizzas I send out to the customer look. I want my pizzas to look good and taste good. In fact I made quite a few awesome looking pizzas and strombolis yesterday for the red wing game. Yes they won. and Yes, they are now moving on to play for the Stanley Cup.

It just isn't as rewarding to me personally. The biggest thng I struggle with is my 3 year old( I know he is only young once and in two years he'll be in school) but it is such a challenge to workout when he is awake. He rarely naps any more. I work nights or stay out late at coffee shops listening to my son play so it is extremely hard to get up in the morning before the kids wake up. I get discouraged when my little one prevents me from working out. I have even tried to encourage him to workout to kids videos with me(his attention span is still too short). I will have to walk to the park with him some days now that it is nice. That will be something !

I did really enjoy my free gym trial. I loved taking off after my older kids got home and getting some quiet, sanity and exercise all at the same time. I really miss it. I have a hard time woring out at home while the kids are around.  I don't think I can afford a gym membership It is truly motivating to me though.

I have been eating pretty good. I ate too much on Sunday(It was my free day though) Still Free day or no free day OVER EATING is not good for me. There is a difference between controlled eating and pigging out.

I had avery good day calorie wise yesterday. I didn't workout but I did cook from 4 pm til 11:20 pm lastnight. It included multiple trips up and down the stairs and sweeping and mopping the floor at the end of the night. Plus all the running around the kitchen. So I still burnt lots of calories and I only had half a sandwhich and a bowl of chili while working. Well........and 1 french fry,2 mushrooms(the deep fried ones) but considering that that evil deepfried stuff was right there I did well at resisting. I could have nibbled a whole lot more. I know there have been times I have munched all the time while working.

Saturday I didn't workout officially  but I did burn mega calories gardening. I don't have a tiller so I had to work up the ground for my garden  the hard way. I bought one of those garden claws. It worked beautifully but........I didn't wear gloves so my hands got all blistered. I must have worked outside about 3 hours between my garden spot and digging up the weeds on the side of the house by the driveway. Plus I went to work and cooked from 5 til 10:30 pm. So I don't feel bad about not officially working out. My arms were sore on Sat and Sun.

I got some tomato , pepper and cucumber plants. I also got some three kinds of basil. Purple ruffles, cinnamon, and the traditional kind. Basil is one of my favorie herbs.I was thinking of planting either after my older kids get home from school or possibly on the weekend. I am almost afraid with my basil(it's even more tender than tomatoes) but the rest I think I will be ok with.

Have an awesome day !               Shawn

Quick one

I don't have much time for blogging today. I have to work later and have had many errands to take care of today. So I will get back to everyone tomorrow with updates on diet and fitnes etc!

I am not looking forward to work tonight.Round Three play offs for Stanley Cup Game 6 Detrroit Red Wings Vs Dallas Stars. Red Wing have 3 games ,Stars have 2 games. It will be nuts in the kitchen.

Gotta run.

I thought I had the day off........

......but someone called in and I went in to cover for him. And I am only on break right now......I have to go back to cover the dinner rush! Fun. So needles to say my workout I had planned for today didn't happen. Cooking in a restaurant setting does burn more calories than sitting on the computer. I got in a few trips up and down the stairs  and lifted a 30 lb box of totilla chips from downstairs in the freezer and lifted a big bucket of pickles etc. It was fairly busy lunch so I did a lot of moving around. I hope though that dinner isn't very busy cause  then I will get to leave sooner.

So that means I have to go with plan B  and do my weight training tomorrow instead. Which means between dance class and weght training I will get in tons of workout time tomorrow. But my I need to get in my 3 X weekly weight training. So I must do it tomorrow.

Besides the weight I have lost over the last three weeks I have also lost a little over 8 inches from Chest, thigh, waist, and hips.YAY!

Gotta run. I have a few other things to accomplish before I go back to work tonight.          Shawn
